- Like Dreamer and CosmoDreamer (yes, this is a double feature) are both shmups made by a solo indie developer, Outside. They are quite obscure and are yet to really leave the shmup corner of the internet, despite receiving almost universal praise. With this video, I hope to take you on a detailed, guided tour of what is now one of my all-time favorite games (and its immediate predecessor).

This is such a well-written review, holy hell...
oh yeah, Like Dreamer has 5 difficulties, not 4, but given this is a review for beginners... yeah you're not gonna like 5th difficulty.
Telling you as the first person to clear it with tlb in the AllTrial on the first day of Steam release of the update
HOW ARE HALF OF THESE GIRLS STANDING UP STRAIGHT ;-;
Btw, about 43:34, I have an upload of the extra stage's and Hinako's themes! (Technically)
We can probably safely call it magic. The setting at large in this series is a bit unclear, so it's suffice enough.
That's cool, but the audio in your video is very tinny. I need me my high quality extends. I did record both the stage and boss theme on their own after making this video, so maybe I'll just make and upload my own extends of each track.
@@marriedtomychair I don't remember the exact website I found it on, but the creator of the game actually just bought the music off a Japanese music website. That's probably why there's no real extends of the music online.
Man now idk. JUST purchased this collection, and am excited, but did so because I saw you could crank the difficulty up. Now unsure if it's my thing (guess I need to dip for a few more shmups when I have the cash). Still looks fun though.
Always wanted to get into bullet hells and decided to try out one last year called ikaruga cause alot of people in the dreamcast community talk about it, I played it for about an hour and really just could not get into it. Maybe I just need to get back into it and "Get Gud" but I also cant help to think it may just be the style and its gameplay quirks. Might check these games out ty
Ikaruga is a widely beloved bullet hell, but it's certainly not an easy one, and it's really centered around its gimmick. It's probably not the best place to start, so these two games would be a better option. It's generally rather tricky to find proper beginner level bullet hells. Personally, I started with Touhou 7, which is also a good starting point but it has a very nasty fourth stage and multiple "crutch" shot types and mechanics.
I should mention that bullet hells are an interesting genre for how transferable skills are. Spend a good bit of time with Like Dreamer, and you'll likely find yourself doing a lot better in Ikaruga when you try it again. Good luck!
