      @@seedsofjudah I've heard of Grazon issues with Black Kow and other issues in another video.
      I used to buy food from a farm that was close by to me, which was apparently close by to Black Kow HQ, so the farm sold this fertilizer as well as used it. They were really organic and strict, so it's a shame to read all these negatives about Black Kow. I contacted them when I first was starting and it didn't seem to be for me.
      I'm EXTREMELY STRICT when it comes to amendments.
      One Manure brand I've heard great things about, as well as I purchased a bag, is "Bu's Blend Biodynamic Compost" by "MalibuCompost."

    Thank you for this informative video.
    This is the 2nd video I came across (that was suggested to me via YT). In the first video the narrator mentioned that she got what seemed like good quality manure in a Black Kow bag vs Earthgro. It would reckon that mass production will always have its issues so what I intend to do a cut a bag open and check the quality of the manure BEFORE I leave the store. Of course I would rebag it if I decided to purchase.
    I realize this video was made over a year ago but now money is way too tight to purchase anything with deceptive labels.

    Thanks for the heads up. I picked up 10 or so bags of Black Kow a month ago and they all seemed ok, but the past few years I feel like the quality on all these bagged products has gone down tremendously. It’s pretty much hit or miss depending on what junk they blend in as filler on that particular day of manufacturing. Ive had very poor luck with Miracle Grow potting soil the past years, what used to be a very nice product now often looks like it is mostly ground up pallet wood. I had one bag of MG Potting Soil that no matter how much you tried watering it, it simply would not hold water. It actually repelled water, could not have been much soil or peat in it at all. No plant would have survived growing in it.

      @reighngold Před 2 lety +1

      @@seedsofjudah Hi! Thanks so much for the tip! I'm gonna go look at Lowes. So it turned out it wasn't herbicide damage (thank god!) just the insane heat/sun on that bed drying it out and essentially burning the soil. I did deep mulch and it fixed the problem. It is however growing super slow (everything in that bed) so I think it really just isn't providing as much fertilizer as it should. I'll be adding my own home made compost to that next year which is full of worms and all manner of gross awesome stuff. I think I also made the mistake of making the mix too well draining. Lots more compost from my garden and other sources should help with that too.

Years later i tried my hand at gardening again and got a bunch of bags only to find that they started adding sticks and twigs to the mix. That said, i never seen it anywhere near as bad as the bags you got. This has nothing to do with Black Kow, sometimes stores have to go through 3rd parties to get the product and these companies take out the product and replace it with something completely different, never order things like this online, especially through Amazon because they always go through many vendors and sellers and always replace the product, they even have the ability to reseal the bags and you would never be able to tell…

    Not surprising of this. Keep in mind many mfgs have processing plants at various locations and buy manure or composting materials from different vendors and occassionally when product is not available they may use an alternate vendor. This does happen. Additionally when the label says "manure" this can be a marketing labeling gimmick but contains other ingredients such as sand, bark, or other materials. The reason the don't always tell you of what it contains is part of their trade secrets.
