yes, but also that rugby and football are dangerous af. Shit, i play basketball and get annoyed when some try hard who wants to pretend he's in the NBA or gets paid to play ball for a living tries to roughhouse, mostly i just get my shots in and get a workout in by myself nowadays. Too many people trying to prove something meaningless in these sports.
so sad to hear he died in 2009 from a chest infection. However, it is wonderful that he got to live long enough to visit his home in Ireland. Also, though short, he lived magnificently. RIP.
So nice to see that he has family & friends in his life to provide him care & support for his needs. Some people aren’t as lucky or just don’t have that.
Was sweet when his brother kissed him goodbye near the start. My hubby would rather stick pins in his eyes than ever kiss any of his brothers, under any circumstances!
@@leece_6702 put it in context...his brother has a special relationship with someone who was disabled. Do you know for sure he kisses ALL his brothers like that?
Ya must be very tiring and when she was holding the paper up for him to read I thought her arm must be getting achy she was wobbling it a bit, my arm would be tired after 5 seconds
I think he was getting sicker here... His voice isn't as clear thats always a sign something is going on Unfortunately... He was also getting impatient with Things to Bless Him Glad he got to go back to Ireland.. He's flying high now an can do whatever he wants xoxo
I am also Irish, 97% + by DNA test. I've never seen Ireland because frankly, I cannot find a relative or friend who wants to go with a disabled old lady. My family is originally from Cork too. And I also have 4 younger brothers. Lovely, his horse knows him. This is very hard work for his parents .
Feel truly sad you don't have someone to come with you, I hope by now you found a way to visit Ireland! I am in Canada, and am also mostly alone, even if I am not disabled. I keep thinking in a situation such as Stuart's, I would be alone, stuck in a hospital bed probably. I hope you find good people, friends.
if i were one of the parents i don't know how i would feel? obviously heartbroken but i maybe would rather my son had passed away so as not to suffer in his condition , my life would be taken over with chores and i would feel that all the chores in the world wouldn't really help much, i know it sounds selfish but thats the way it, is when my dad died my mum lived another 4 years and kept saying she wished she was dead and back with her husband, we as a family tried to cheer her up but i was a waste of time it depressed us as much as it did her , she was immobile housebound alone waiting for carers or us each day and now she is dead i am happy for her? harsh but true
Yeah your 100 per cent right I keep horses and a horse can tell if you're scared of it 'and that's when it will throw you off 'you have to be really firm and you're in control 'if you don't then the horse is in control of you 'don't show any fear even though you're terrified ''don't show it
What an amazing young man. It just shows you that no matter what life throws at you the human spirit is strong and you make the best of it. For all those saying the would rather die I think you would probably feel different if it happened. The will to live is in most ppl stronger then they think.
There's a really thought provoking part in the book where the carer explains how the main character dreamt about his life before he was paralysed and how he used to scream with frustration when he woke up and faced the reality that he couldn't move. The author wrote that she had either a family member or friend in a similar situation which inspired the book. I think this guy mentions something similar. Guess we should all learnt not to take our mobility and independence for granted?
Jayne Forster the horse knew he was disabled horses can tell when you are fragile horses say hello my nudging and licking they like your hands to say hello it knew he couldn’t so said hello when it went up to his face 💔
OK just another question, I was going to ask if you had of airflow mattress To keep things moving on your body so you’re don’t get pressure sores. Also do you have lambswool but those are on your heels in bed and your ankles almost anywhere that will help keep pressure sores off too. You can tell me stop talking and I’ll understand. Take care
As Stuart comes from part of Ireland that is not part of the UK but part of the European Union how does this affect his care costs under the NHS? He's in the same situation as someone from say Germany or France that had an accident in the UK and needed care under the NHS.We used to have to take an E111 when visiting the EU that is basically a document that says the UK government will pay for your care if needed in the EU.I don't know what happens the other way round.
wish they could've had that beautiful young person on hyperbaric oxygen therapy - hyperbaric oxygen therapy oxygenates the the whole body, kills infections and it has also been said that ihyperbaric oxygen therapy appears to promote growth of new capillaries
Usually it's as a result of medication. With a spinal cord injury the signals from the nerves are blocked at the level of the injury. His was the worst kind of injury, being very high up. He would probably have had trouble regulating blood pressure and other body systems so steroids are usually needed and they are the usual culprit when it comes to swelling and the weight gain due to fluid build up xxx
it is medication, DaBratt when muscles atrophy they get small not puffy. he can use his face muscles as a quadraplegiic he would be on a LOT of medication including steroids sto help with the chest infections etc
Shit like this makes me realize at a young age that almost anything can happen at any time...value life...
@@kerronthedon9306 Really????? Don't be a loser all your life.🤫

If you don't value your life already. I think this doc should make you think?
I just think his family are amazing and his mum is wonderful. They were lucky to have each other. Bless him x
He had amazing support and very positive outlook. Hard to believe he has been gone almost 10 years now.
He died in 2009. He contracted a chest infection which caused pneumonia leading to death. I read this in a text written for his memory.
Im so sorry for your loss of such an awesome amazing man rest in peace god bless you xxx
So sad he died... He's free of that broken body now, though... Makes me really sad, but it's bittersweet.
Vitamin c would have saved him.

What a beautiful life he had growing up :-)
He is so fortunate to have such a loving family. He died in 2009 just 1 year after his injury. Rip Stuart.
the horse knew , it was a good moment to witness
The horse knew he was disabled horses can tell when a person is fragile
He definitely is an inspiration. I am sure he has his dark days too but he strives towards staying positive. Thank you for sharing his story.
We all adjust to what life hands us...we can be hurt if it’s our child but we do what we must do! God Bless!

His speech clarity is diminishing as his diction continues to deteriorate.
Maybe he knew that he was deteriorating and that's why he wanted to go back to Ireland?

He died in 2009.😥
April 5th is a day that changed my life too, different year, but a bad day as well.
What happened??? Tell the damn story
What is the whistling sound sometimes while he's talking? If it's his breathing, what causes that sound?
It's a ventilator, it was mentioned in an earlier part that he needed a ventilator as his lungs no longer worked.
Boy that is a lot of work for an older man. I hope an electric chair is in the future.
He passed away in 2009. 😥
A mom is a mom...
There's a definite sadness in the horse's eyes at 8:10.
God bless you, keep going forward one day at a time cherish each moment with family and friends.

thanks for the update
Wonder why he didn't get an electric chair that he could control.with a straw called a sip.n.puff
Becky Peters he’s ventilated, it can be really hard to get enough pressure for a sip and puff depending on your ventilator settings
Stu, Ypou are such a personable person. I cannot see you not getting married some day with 3-4 children.
He died a year after this.

Why do quads get that bloated doughy face thing?
i guess because they put on weight easily
It's that body-shape change phenomenon.
