  • Paralysis Diet for Speedy Recovery | Paralysis Recovery Diet Plan | Dr. Pragti Gupta
In this video, Dr. Pragati Gupta will help you to understand how the diet of a paralysis patient should be designed.
Recovery from paralysis comes with regular medication, exercise, and diet. Unfortunately, diet is mostly taken wrong even if it is one of the essential factors in paralysis recovery. This affects the recovery phase of the patient and delays it.
Paralysis occurs due to two reasons which are ischemic stroke and Hemorrhagic stroke. When a patient's right side of the brain is damaged, the left side stops movement; similarly, when the left side of the brain is damaged, the body parts to the right side of the brain get affected.
Following a healthy diet plan is essential to resume the patient's brain function and body movement.
-Patients are advised to eat lentils, egg whites, milk, mushrooms, chicken, and fish in grilled form instead of fried.
-Fish is vital in patients with paralysis because it contains omega-3 fatty acids, aiding the patient's recovery.
-Patients are advised to avoid red meat, beef, or pork. This is because the intake of Vitamin D and Vitamin B12 is equally important for the patient. In addition, a patient must take a diet that helps them provide energy to the body and gives strength.
-A patient unable to move or do physical activities is advised to take a low protein diet, while a patient who can walk is advised to take a good amount of protein in their diet.
-We suggest that every paralyzed patient avoid salt, sugar, and fat. High blood pressure, high sugar levels, and high cholesterol lead to paralysis, so the patient should take care of their diet and not eat anything that aggravates their disease.
-Patients with high blood pressure should take a pinch of rock salt when their blood pressure levels are normal.
-Along with this, the patient should avoid potatoes, rice, sugar, and maida.
-We also recommend the patient undergo a lipid profile test to check the cholesterol level.
-The patient can also eat walnuts and almonds after soaking them in water overnight.
-If there is muscle atrophy, the patient should take a protein-rich diet.
-Always ensure that the patient's food has a flavor so that they eat it correctly.
-We can also use olive oil and desi ghee for food preparation. Hence a good-tasting diet with fruits is also necessary, but the patient should avoid citrus fruits.
-Nondiabetic patients can eat papaya, chikoo, and custard apple. And diabetic patients are advised to eat a cup of fruit a day. Along with this, steamed salad and soup also benefit the patient.
Eating a healthy and proper diet will help the paralyzed patient. In addition, acting on the brain, along with medications and diet, aids in recovery in the paralyzed patient.
At Sai Sanjivani, we provide paralysis drugs that help improve brain function, restart the brain to send signals, and regain muscle movement. Our medicines, along with our diet, help the patient recover faster.
