When you are in stealth (or generally) and start attacking an opponent it is better to first AA and then throw W because the animation cancels with W, so you get free AA basically.
Unless enemy is already far away from you already and u need to catch on to them

Instead of throwing W to cancel stealth, try pressing B. It stops you for a small amount longer but saves some mana

The way thresh's hook works is that it's built up of 4 circular or spherical hitboxes in a square formation as opposed to a diamond, making the corners of his hook a lot bigger than the front or sides
