This helped me a lot dude. Always wanted to start reading spawn but didnt know how to do it. Originally was going to get the volumes but they dont have issue 9 or 10 so books might be best.
Hey! No problem I'm really glad this helped someone out thanks! I started reading the series (read issues 1-3 so far) and I'm really enjoying it. Interested to see where it heads :)
That’s for the clarification in the video ! It was a huge help in deciding which way to start collecting these editions (I’m going with the hardcover 👍🏼)
Thank you for this. I can't find "book 1" hardcover on amazon anymore, just volume 1, which I dont want. Trying to track down book 1, and collect it the right way in hardcover.
I really want to get into Spawn, but the order of the TPB's are really confusing. Spawn Origins vol. 1-20 cover issue #1-122. Spawn Resurrection, Spawn: Satan Saga, and the upcoming Spawn: Hell On Earth cover issues #251-275. Which TPB's cover the issues in between though? And is there a more efficient way of collecting the series (money-wise)?
Yes there is a difference. I wanna buy Book 18 of Spawn 0rigins Collection On eBay or Amazon But I'm Not Sure Is it the correct book? Does a book Number 18 exist?
Thank you! I'm trying to put together the full spawn origins (volume) collection because I'm loving it so far, I'm only on issue 15, but I'm having a lot of trouble finding a few of the volumes on line ( like volume 20 ) even on amazon. Anyone know where I could look?
From what I've been told at comics stores and read on forums (even since I finished this video) the volumes stop at a certain point. The origins collection was going on volumes, eventually got cancelled, then came back in the "book" format. There isn't an official announcement of that anywhere but that's what I've been told at stores and read on various forums as of late. There was never an official announcement of this though, so even when I was making this video there wasn't really a way to tell that.
This is something I'm not 100% sure on. The person who let me borrow the volume for my review, he and I aren't really friends anymore and I don't own the volume myself, just the book.
The most recent came out in October which was BOOK 10, the volumes are an older line which have been discontinued, so if you're just starting I personally recommend you collect the "Spawn Origins Books", not the "Origins Volumes."
Degenerate Jay thanks dude , I was going to get the books anyway 'cause they're better quality ( not that the volumes aren't but the the hard covers are much more resistant ) one more thing do you think they're gonna release another compendium ?
It's no problem man! I'm buying the books too, although I only have the first one so far. I don't THINK they will... but there's no way for me to for sure know if that makes sense. The reason I don't think they will for a long time is that the Books are still releasing. The most recent compilation was book 10 which released October of 2016 (which is pretty recent so I'd assume they're gonna keep this gravy train rolling on the Book versions as long as they're profitable.
Degenerate Jay two more questions and I'm done : when do you think they're gonna release book 11 (or higher ) according to the profit they make for them , and have you ever heard of and if you did ,what are your opinions on it (if you haven't check it out , it's even more messed up then spawn , trust me ) + 1 subscriber !
It seems like they're being released every 6 months or so but it's hard for me to find information on that. Thank you for the support! Have I heard of what? It just put a blank space.
If only I had seen this video before! Is there any official statement on the current status of the books (not the volumes)? I started collecting them, and noticed that so far the single comics are around issue 275, while book 10 covers until issue 125 or so. Since I only buy collected editions, I am a bit worried...
I haven't seen anything since the release of Book 10. This was in October 18, 2016, about a month after I dropped this video. So I'm not really sure what's going on with it. I only personally have book 1 so far (school hit me pretty hard). Still am hoping they continue the series. I also prefer buying collected so I completely understand your frustration and question about it, it's just a little hard finding information about IMAGE releases honestly. DC and Marvel are already really hard to keep up with, due to the fact that the comics industry doesn't really keep readers informed as to when things will release, especially if delays occur. Best example of this? Dark Knight III Master Race from DC.
Totally agree. Which is also consistent with the idea that Todd thinks Spawns sells itself (obviously not), so thank you again for promoting this material.
Yo I was wondering I want to read spawn I don’t want to read 300 issues of the thing so I was wondering when do you think a good jumping point would be
I have a question. Being that it’s nearly impossible to find book 1 of spawn origins do i need to own vol 1 & 2 of the sofcovers to keep up with the story ? I know just showed the video but have to be sure.
Well Origins Collection Volume 2 contains issues 7-9 and 11-14. I would of course like to read them in order so I do not know how to get my hands on issue 10. It is strange how it is not included in the first place but they include several issues after in that edition.
Ah yes like I said in the video I recommend the Books honestly. The volumes are discontinued and missing issues, but the Book collections are still going and seem to have everything included.
A big part of that is probably that the book is out of print at this point. Once that happens they don't make any more of them, and the supply continues to dwindle.
Books are generally the way to go but book 1 is harder to find now than it was back in late 2016 sadly. The Volumes cut off at a certain point is the issue on that front.
Issue 10 has been declared basically "not canon" it's a weird 4th wall breaking Deadpool-like story. To quote the summary on mycomicshop.com, "Cerebus the Aardvark takes Spawn on a surreal journey and exploration about the politics of the comic industry and the rights of creators." Because of this I guess they didn't include it in the Volume series.
@@DegenerateJay Well, does it not advance the story in any meaningful way, that would be noticed when skipped over? Or is it essentially a total one shot where Todd needed to vent?
noooo detailed help!!!!! think as 9 n others if missing cos created by moore n neil etc. so in court todd lost as they created certain things famously #9 neil made angela n court found todd lost neil sold her to marvel now thors sister!!.....in marvel.

Thank you for this post. I'm about to get into the Spawn mythology and your post is super helpful 👌. Again thanks!!
Thx for the video!!! You really helped me out👍
Hey thank you for checking it out! For some reason I couldn't reply till now!
Very lovely! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much I really appreciate it!
Let me know if you guys have any questions about these books! It's confusing online!

So glad you made this video.

Was gonna get into spawn and buy the origins 1 but I saw they had compendium 1 and might get that instead? Is there any difference between them?
Thank you for the video it was amazing. Thank you for the help
Thanks alot man solid information thank u so much for clearing this up lol
Thank you sir!
So if I buy the spawn compenium vol. 1 which is suppose to have issues 1-50 and then I buy books 5-10, will I be getting every issue then?
Book 1 isn't available on amazon anymore. Does the volume also contain bonus artwork at the end or no?
This is something I'm not 100% sure on. The person who let me borrow the volume for my review, he and I aren't really friends anymore and I don't own the volume myself, just the book.

Why are they missing part 10 in volume 2?
Dave Sims wrote that issue and didn't want it reprinted, and Todd has honored that request.
@@visitor5451 What a loser.
Why would they release a collection while skipping issues?
If only I had seen this video before!

Don't buy paperbacks, buy single issues.
Could you please tell me how many books are in total?
Is there a difference between "Spawn" and "Spawn Origins?" I found a compendium that collects issues 1-49, but the title is just "spawn."
Sorry I didn't see this, notifications are weird. Origins is really just these issues in a compilation.
Yo I was wondering I want to read spawn I don’t want to read 300 issues of the thing so I was wondering when do you think a good jumping point would be
Hey man you can start with issue 296 which basically recaps the whole saga so far with also 297.
I have a question. Being that it’s nearly impossible to find book 1 of spawn origins do i need to own vol 1 & 2 of the sofcovers to keep up with the story ? I know just showed the video but have to be sure.
Yes it will, but book 2 starts with issue 13 (which is one of the last two issues in volume 2)
Which origin book has issue 50#?
Thanks for the info man! I want to get into the series, but for what reason is Volume 10 missing and how can I get my hands on it?
When you say volume 10 is missing what do you mean exactly? Do you mean online?

A big part of that is probably that the book is out of print at this point. Once that happens they don't make any more of them, and the supply continues to dwindle.
Degenerate Jay ok thanks
Was the original spawn run 12 issues or 13?
Why is issue 10 missing?
Is it still worth getting Spawn Origins collection Volume 2 ? And rest Origins collections
Books are generally the way to go but book 1 is harder to find now than it was back in late 2016 sadly. The Volumes cut off at a certain point is the issue on that front.
Degenerate Jay I’m so glad they reprinted volume 1 because I had 4 and 5 but there was no volume 1. Now I will order it.
Does anyone know why issue #10 is missing from vol. 2? Is it a licensing issue or something?
