    I especially love watching Men react to this song. After the first chorus they always nod and say yes that's very sage advice and I smile to myself knowing the beast that is in every Man's chest no one touches a guy's woman! And with great satisfaction I watched their face as they get to the end of the song and Justice is served and they realize sometimes you have to fight to be a man. It is so true the wisdom is knowing when that is. Great reaction

      You are so right and when they find out what happened to Becky , they all go HELL NO

      @greeneyelove2003 Před 3 lety +2

      Same here. Because the advice in the beginning is sound advice. Getting into needless fight after fight doesn't make you a man. But when guys here the second half, a switch flips and they are ready to help Tommy kick ass.

      I totally agree. I have watched many reactions to this song. 1st verse is a message of peace. "He told his son right." 2nd verse is "Oh hell no." Chorus is "That's what he should have done." Basically, men shouldn't look for trouble but if someone is hurt then maybe fighting is the only answer. Tommy learned this lesson.

    After being arrested at home in front of my parents for fighting again at a club the previous night, when I got released and returned home on bail with a court date set, my father said to me when are you going to learn son, I said why should I have to put up with twats stepping up to me or my friends for no good reason, my father replied son you can't punch every Tosser you meet, you will be punching people every day,
    Rest in peace farther, I miss you every day, you would be proud of me and my two sons. 🙏x

    The key phrase is: "walk away from trouble IF you can".

  • @Fishmorph
    @Fishmorph Před 3 lety +34

    The genius of this song is that the chorus seems like great advice the first time you hear it, you question it the second time, and you applaud the subtle revision the third time. The chorus is different every time you hear it.

      @samuelvincent557 Před rokem +1

      Agreed. But the part that most reactors miss is that Tommy's Father says, "Walk away from trouble IF you can." He knew there are times when walking away can't happen.

    You nailed this review dude….most of the time you have to try to live a good life, but when someone crosses that line… you’re allowed to do whatever needs to be done

    Kenny will always be a legend. This was a song i remember from a child, along with "the gambler" also "love will turn you around" (yeah, there are times when acceptions are made for everything, those guys were lucky he just beat them up and didn't shoot them)

    It is so hard for me to listen to Kenny, I married his clone! My Husband looked, and sounded, just like him. My Husband was a professional Musician and did all of Kenny's stuff, his most requested was The Gambler, and Lucille. He passed away Valentines Day, 2017. Every Valentines Day, I play Kenny's songs, Bob Seger, Elvis, and a few others in his memory! I think he wanted me to listen to this, because before I knew it, I clicked on it! lol I was looking for Polk Salad Annie by Elvis! Saw this, and clicked! Spirits!! UGH! lol.

    I think this song comes from more of an age of innocence.....I think in the context of this song "taking turns at Becky" does not mean giving her the high hard one....I think it just means slapping her around a little.
