    I’m on the waiting list to get one. Definitely need to swap out the antenna I heard. There’s a 3D printed design to help deal with the button issue. 73!

      Pretty sure I’m on the same list for my next T-Echo! I just got some new antennas to try out, so you know what I’ll be doing soon! Thanks for the support, bud! 73

      Saw that ugly blocky add-on for the buttons. Just superglue another layer on, with holes cut in for the buttons, to make them harder to reach.

    If you factory reset your device it will remove all the Chinese nodes.

    Keep in mind, a higher gain antenna = more directional antenna. Even if it's an omni, it becomes more directional vertically. Looking at the picture of the setup in the truck, that doesn't look optimal antenna-wise.

      Yep! The node in the truck is setup that way on intentionally. Not optimal, but realistic for normal use. Thanks for watching!

    Does this have gps maps? I really like the Garmin Fenix, but dont want to spend $1000 on a watch. Or is this more like a Garmin gps communicator?

      No maps. You can just send text and telemetry data via RF.

      All those devices require a monthly subscription

    Think when you flash Meshtastic to device you want to select 2nd option, delete/flash to remove old data re: old nodes.

    I'm not sure what to take from this review. You couldn't make contacts on either trip, but "this thing's a winner." How so?

    Really interesting on the delayed messages. Is not the sender timestamp already embedded in the message header? This would be kind of critical for certain kinds of telemetry, not to mention time-sensitive info.

    • @Scout75PortableRadio
      @Scout75PortableRadio  Před 7 měsíci +1

      There will be some delay using LoRa. Depending on range, it will take several tries to get a message from one node to another. Especially if one node is sleeping. Then the delay compounds if you’re sending a message to a specific node through a mesh. A delay of a few minutes is normal.

      @@Scout75PortableRadio OK. If the sending message header does not have the specific time embedded in it, telemetry applications need to encode it somehow. For time-sensitive data. And the sending nodes would know the time by GPS signal.

    What was the lowest air temperature you used the device at? How does screen performance change in very cold weather?
