The thing with Lara is she sings her life story to all of us, raw, explicit full of emotions, cant get enough of her!
The music of Broken Vow was co-composed by Walter Afanassiev and Lara Fabian.
Walter Afanassiev, an american/brazilian from russian descent, is a legendary composer and producer (he co-composed some of the greatest initial hits of Mariah Carey such as All I Want for Christmas is You or Hero and was the producer of the Titanic soundtrack that increased Celine Dion WW fame). He is produced a song for Dimash among others.
When this song was composed, Walter and Lara were engaged, they were living in San Francisco’s bay area, but apparently he cheated and she decided to break up. When she took this decision, that she knew would dramatically change both her personal and professional destiny, she wrote these incredible lyrics.
Lara has said this is her preferred english song from all the songs she wrote in this language (there are many, and some are pure jewels).
One reason is also because this song has then been covered by the greatests:
- Barbra Streisand (she performed it in concerts from one of her tour but never recorded it),
- Josh Groban (his cover made this song famous in US, she is her friend and role model and he made several duets with her),

For Jackie Evancho, and at the request of Jackie's parents who found the original lyrics were not a good fit for a young girl, Lara rewrote Broken Vow in french as "Imaginer" with a complete different meaning.
But the original from Lara remains the absolute reference

This was the song that introduced me to Lara Fabian through youtube many years ago. Impressed by her artistry was an understatement. And that comes from me, an old man who has listened to many singers, including some of the great singers from various parts of the world.
The song was the finale of her concert. I heard this song back in the early 2000s sung by Josh Groban, at that time I was not interested in who wrote the music or lyrics. Fast forward to 2023, saw this video not knowing Lara wrote the lyrics (which are very personal to her). Since then I've listened and watched as many of Lara's performances as possible and enjoy reactors discovering Lara for the 1st time and wondering why they never heard of her...me too!
Great reaction! And you said it all! One of the many things I love about Lara is how emotional she is, although never letting the technicality behind. She’s a magician with her voice, but she’s also a fearless bomb of emotion and hit us every time. She’s so comfortable on stage, like if she were in her living room telling a story to some real and intimate friends. And I think that’s why she never goes over the board just to show off her pipes, she never puts more effort than needed to present the song. She’s not just a singer, she’s a storyteller with a voice of an angel.
I think we should create a specific word for her: a "storyliver".
Because she is not telling but really living the story just in front of us.😮

Lara Fabian is a cheet. She had a consort in Hungary and then was singing to Viktor Orban. I truly believe if u feel anything u just can't believe it but I have to exert it.
Victor Orban will be gone in 5 years. Lara will be known in another 50 years at least 😂
