A girl Hedgehog comes for a feed, Then a Boy Hedgehog arrives and the Girl leaves. A Fox has a quick look but doesn't stay. Sonic turns up and barges the Boy away from the food.
The British Hedgehog need our help. So i have been putting food out in my garden and recording them on a CCTV cameras and a wildlife camera trap.
I hope you enjoy watching & helping them as much as i do.
What can you do for Hedgehogs
Important:- NEVER give Hedgehogs bread, milk, mealworms, sunflower seeds or peanuts.
These are all bad for hedgehogs or they can't process them.
DO give them Cat or kitten dry complete food is perfect. They prefer chicken any make or flavour (Except Fish) is fine, and the smaller the size of the kibble the better (hedgehogs have tiny little mouths).
Avoid any that have cereal as the first, main, ingredient this basically just filler with little nutritional value.
The camera trap records sound, the CCTV camera does not. when there is no sound it's because the camera trap which records 3 minute clips and has stopped recording. but it does start recording again when the Hedgehog moves enough to trigger it :-)

Great videos, might be a better idea not to feed them on a step, they way they push & roll could lead to injury

Thanks, I did have some concerns about that, but they have been feeding there for a few years now, without injury. These where recorded last year and i have made some changes to reduce the chance of injury.

@@steveshedgehogchannel7602 can I ask what biscuits u use, my hogs are having trouble some cat biscuits can be hard & small

It has a good ingredients list but it has been getting quite expensive though !!
But it is small (hog mouth size) and crunchy. Young hogs can struggle a bit, but you can spray a bit of water on it to make them softer. A lot of other Hedgehog food have the main ingredient as cereal which is basically just filler with little nutritional value 😞 they also like wet chicken cat food. i was told that cat & dog biscuits where to BIG for hedgehogs !!??

@@steveshedgehogchannel7602 thanks, I did with water on morrisons own cat food biscuits which they loved but they don't make it any more, I ordered a big bag of brambles £10 for a 2kg bag, il try that too 🦔
