Happy Landings! Fly outside the box. 📦✈ - Zábava
Hey folks! Just to clarify, the section about Flite Test was a joke. All the names that left did so on their own accord, not because Flite Test doesn’t care about them.
Yes, I have come to learn not to take all things said here seriously. It's a comedy channel.
This is the most humorous RC channel with talented sticks to boot! I get a dopamine boost watching each episode. Your one wheel landings are the bomb!
Thank you! Glad you're enjoying the videos. Hope to fly FPV with you sometime soon!
LMAO. I totally agree with the gyro, I've told 3 people if you need it to fly use it and have fun. Don't worry what the other guys say about them. Or that I've never had one. You have been flying for 50 less years then I have, and I've crashed more planes then your likely to buy in the next 10 years. Do what's fun for you.
Gyro is great for takeoff/landing while you get comfortable flying the sky, flipping out for testing your wings without once you're airborne. Over time, you use assist less and less until you don't need the handicap any more. I've gone from lazy 3 channel toy store models to cheapo online 3 channel models to the Volantex 4 channel models. The small volantex models taught me the most with model RC, particarly with cross-wind landings, rough landing strip surfaces, and how to bring in a model for emergency landing (flairing out for a stall settle-in). I'm still perfecting my tail dragger landing technique per scale but I'm not trashing my planes or props
This is what the hobby need now. Especially with all the FAA stuff happening now. Enjoy the process, try new things, as long as you are having fun, and help someone else out. The community is half the fun after all.
Nothing ruins something faster than government involvement. We were totally self regulated for over 60 years. Then drones screwed it all up.
Thank you! That's definitely the message we are trying to spread.
Seriously, there are many [true] life lessons in this video - here are two of my favorites: "skill doesn't equate to fun" and "this hobby is whatever you make of it"
THANK YOU!!!
I've donated a big plane with all the components to a local flight club where kids practice making their own in a class. The teacher was so happy and grateful, that I couldn't take any money from him (it was originally and ad for sale). Nobody ever got me a plane, but I sure did give some kid a cool one.
This sums up RC better than anything I’ve ever seen. My mantra…. I never fly anything that will make me cry if I crash. I crash a lot and this is supposed to be fun. All the guys at my field with $6000 planes never seem to be having fun.
The $40 model turning into a $120 model felt like a personal attack against me lol. This year, my skill level reached the point where I truly learned "you get what you pay for". I finally upgraded to an Extreme Flight airframe and the proper motor/esc/servos.....I'm having a lot more fun flying instead of repairing cheap components. Excellent video with great advice!
"The dopamine hit after a good landing".... Boy the groundies just DONT KNOW what they miss. Scale or full. Wish I could a bounced one on with you back on the N.E. Coast. Stars!? Never woulda guessed my back yard. Hopefully some day! Keep up the excellent content, and spectacular attitude, as the hobby needs more YOUS!!!!
Thank you!
Great video. So true all of it. I buy planes fly them until I crash them, fix the with glue and tape and when this works no more I get another. Accidents happen but I learn and now I am quite good at flying.
What a good video to make. I know more than anyone that there’s a deep desire to become good at something you love, even if its just toy planes. But its impossible to even kinda get there unless you’re focus is on fun! And thats for either flying or building. I once found myself barely flying and constantly building, retuning, retrying things and starting over because I jus wasn’t confident. Focusing on fun was a recent change thats been all the better for me. (Tho it helps that I have a little bit of scratch to work with now lol)
Thanks - glad you enjoyed the message. 😁👍
Your lack of confidence is still symptomatic of fear of failure, embarrassment or criticism. The hobby is based predominantly on flying, the more the focus is on ancillary pursuits the greater the chances are that an unaddressed deficiency exists. I'm not commenting on why the deficiency exists but what is disappointing is the extensive narratives that people generate to attempt to conceal the deficiency. Developing a skill often isn't fun, and may involve loss and perceived pain,, but it is a goal, which many people lack in their lives, and surmounting the obstacles is beneficial for most people.
Our species can only survive if we have obstacles to overcome. You remove those obstacles. Without them to strengthen us, we will weaken and die.

You got it! Even playing lawn darts brings a big smile to my face.
OMG, this video was fantastic! A lot of good laughs! Thank you guys for bringing humor to the hobby. It has definitely helped me lighten up.
Thank you! Glad you're enjoying the content.
This is hilarious, and full of valuable life lessons...for EVERYTHING.Thank you! 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
I cannot explain how much i enjoy these videos! 11k subscribers!? WOW this is something!
Thank you!
Dude, perfectly worded and thoroughly enjoyed the video. Say hi with a high five to Cody from me. Another legend of the hobby 😎
The Josh one is too true lmfao!
So good my friends! Thats the spirit!🥳 This is the spirit I have wanted to convey for years. And now there's finally a channel for it. Great work guys! I will share your videos as much as I can!
Thank you!
7:57 And I took that personally. 😢
Love the thumbnail pic, I was there when that middair occurred and it's one of my top memories when I was growing up in the hobby
6 min in. Best hand launch I've seen in my life. The rage is understandable
I know the feeling. I can only speak for myself, I have reached a point of surrealism where i just look in disbelief..😮Then i slowly start the walk of shame, muttering to myself.. just my motivation to stay in thy hobby as i can't buy a new plane whenever i want.. thank you
Crashing IS part of the hobby. Sometimes it's the best part!
Great video and message to go along with it! Loved the comedy and positive attitude portrayed!
Thank you!
Awesome job once again guys. Thanks!
Congrats guys, your videos are always entertaining and also educational, rare combo. Can't wait until the next one!
Your videos have made me a better rc pilot. I even got a job at a hobby store while going to school. I love my flex jet and cap 232 from tail heavy rc and the passion you guys put into this hobby 👍
Thank you! So glad to hear you’re diving full on into the hobby.
4:46 "that was cool"... [impact] 😂
Awesome work guys! Hey I thought Josh Scott left Flite Test because of life/career choice (he went into full time ministry with the church)
He now has a channel, Memoirs of WWII, in which he interviews veterans of that war who have some incredible stories to tell. It's worth checking out.
It's not transition from SUCKING to SUCCEEDING I find challenging. It's all the fun stuff IN BETWEEN.
Just loved this one. Spot on. Its all about the people and the fun. 🥰
Amen! This video should be canonized as the gospel of how to have fun in the hobby.
I actually did in a round about way get into the hobby with a DJI drone though. And here I am 25 planes later flying everyday day.
Wayne Gretzky - "You miss 100% of the shots you never take." Such a great quote. 👍
Excellent video, points to you on all fronts...
I don't fly rc anymore, my old Kraft radio and nitro planes are hanging on the wall in the shop. I got back into full scale a couple of years ago and owning an old Piper keeps me busy enough. That being said I still love to watch your videos.
Thanks
Lmao this one hit home I'm still relatively new to the hobby only flying about 4 months....but getting there pretty quick and I still make a precision aerobatics team pilot check out my new plane everytime I get one....I'm like hey throw this thinf around so I can see what she's truly capable of....and that pushes me to learn....altho the rolling harrier is taking a while to get down smooth I keep doing rolling harriers circles lmao
Fantastic advice, in a video with many rewind-worthy moments!
Well done man thanks for making this
You shoot from the hip nothing but respect for ya. Not fake. 👍👍👍👍
❤️
Great video with a lot of excellent suggestions!
This video is absolute fire...."but is it scale" wheres that weenie at I need another laugh
Your videos are great ! Love them keep doing them I learn a lot from them!!
7:00 my exact progress was from an aeroscout to a carbon cub both forgiving airplanes my cub is currently patched together with hot glue and it still flies like it did out of the box
These are GREAT PSA's for the hobby and ALWAYS hilarious!! 🤣well done THP !
Great Video Guys. I’m still progressing it’s been a little more than a year now since I got into the Hobby. My first real plane was a sport cub s2 and I flew it so much I had to buy another it got tore up I have a umx pitts s1 that has two sticks of hot glue holding it together 😂. I just bought a dx6e to be able to buy bnf. I love the hobby it’s to bad the nearest hobby shop is 5 hrs away. Thanks for sharing
Thank you! Glad to hear you're having fun despite the road bumps. It's the right attitude to have!
"If at first you don't succeed, keep on suckin till you do suckceed"..... Excellent content....TY for posting ...Lee
This channel is funny yet you learn from it my grandad got me into this hobby I binged watched planes all the time but this channel has been a great mentor for me and making me laugh I finally have 2 planes now 1 nitro 1 electric this channel has inspired me thank you tail heavy productions
Thanks, Jamie! So glad to hear you’re thriving in the hobby. Bounce one on for us! 👍
The weather in Britain can be windy most times but with these new models it takes the wind on easily I truly love how this hobby has adapted and people like you making it more accessible to the newer generation 👍
Very entertaining. Thumbs up, you guys.
Please never stop being awesome boyd
2:08 last I heard from the other josh back in flite fest west, he went into full time church ministry and kids, that's why we don't see him on the show.
This is a great video guys :) Sucking at flying but having fun is where its at!!
Having the expert maiden your plane and even teach you how to successfully take off, fly and land is soooo much better when you are a rookie or even an intermediate pilot! And all it takes is buying the guy a beer.
Although I enjoyed this video, if you order the "right" cheap plane, they are fine! #1, MUST be EPP foam! Other foams are unworthy of a beginner! EPP or Nothing! #2, build that sucker right! Use the right glues for the job, and triple check joints, and check your center of gravity 20 times. #3, do a test glide!!!!!!!! Start with a LIGHT NO POWER toss in tall grass, adjust, and throw harder. When it glides FLAT and straight, you're ready to "consider" flying it. #4, I suggest starting with a 2 channel Glider. Super simple, super cheap (MUST BE EPP! Think flying Nurf) to get used to the controls Before going to powered flight. I just saved you months of anguish and a crap load of money. You're welcome. :-) and yes, this is how I learned to fly all by myself with no help. EPP bounces wonderfully. Seriously, start with a 2 channel EPP glider and beat it ragged to learn the controls.
Great content, you guys are going to do well 😉👍
Great video & perfect points!
After my 1st month, I stopped using any gyro. (3 yrs ago after returning to flying after a 20yr 'break'🤪). But if someone is comfortable & happy using safe, more power to them. Just not for my style/kaotic way to fly!
I just found your page cause of the Pirana... and I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!! This totally describes me and my flying buddy... Anyway, wish we had been recording more stuff over the last 15 years. Thanks for your hard work.
Good video and so true!
The humour in this video is just top tier btw getting hit by a sport cub like in the video is something I can 100% relate to
Dang!! I was going to spend time and leave a comment, but after watching this, I'm just going to go fly!! Thanks!! 👍
Actually have a good $100 beginner plane. The Eachine warbirds got me into the hobby and laught me valuable lessons.
I started with an Ft Arrow, now i finally have a few big scale warbirds and expensive fpv models i am to afraid to fly ... great Hobby
I just got into this hobby and have my first plane, and man do I love it. The only thing I can’t get down is my landings. Still get excited when I don’t crash after 2 seconds
Haha. You had me rolling🤣
I have a neck-strap length of 0 and always get nervous! But seriously, those things get in the way of the display every time you find one safe second to glance at it.
lol I always enjoy your Saturday videos
Poor Billy, that prop to the leg had to hurt. I spent a few hours at the emergency room last night, due a prop strike to the finger. I learned not to be in front of the prop, when installing a receiver. I Hate spektrum!!! I said it. The FMS PA super cub 1300 prop is powerful.
Another fun video to watch!
THP back at it with another banger
Oh my god, sick burns everywhere!
Great advice
That f9f was cool
I build and fly indestructible EPP laminated wings. Crash and fly all the time and nothing cheaper. Love em.
bro this is literally the opposite of my club
u guys keep goin
Crash of the Month Club. We all auger a few in from time to time. Sub-terrain pull out.
As always, a very good video.
This video IS the best therapy ever
On the thumbnail for this video, that's my 3DHS 104 Slick 540 being taken out by my flying buddy. Just wondering where you got that photo.
This was an outstanding video, I always wondered what happened to that one guy on FliteTest - just too handsome for his own good, I totally understand.
Josh Scott now has a channel, Memoirs of WWII, in which he interviews veterans of that war who have some incredible stories to tell. Check it out!
Can you make a video explaining what rc planes are in the coolest way possible, to show the friends and family that somehow stil don't understand what it is
The closest video we've got to that was our very first video, "So YOU Want To Fly RC Planes". We may re-visit that video one day.
Love your videos can you please make a video on tips for flying
When you said something about 4 landings and only one take-off, i knew that couldn't be me with 7 take-offs and 1 landing, the rest where crashes
Yeah, I started rc-flying with an 40$ plane and moved on quickly from it after the engine caught fire midflight to a 500$ jet...
Nice shot at Hobby King and DJI
4:44 uhh....yeah that's something I just realized I've been overlooking XD
i got into the hobby when for my birthday my grandpa bought be a 12 dollar mini drone from amazon
really funny episode!
Can't agree more !! If you aren't having fun, then maybe it's not the right hobby for you. Even on a day you crashed hard and dropped a few hundred bucks... same thing.... if you don't stop by a hobby shop on the way home after the crash, well... maybe consider stamp collecting.
At the airfield from which I fly there was an old guy who told me I can't fly and I shouldn't buy a jet under any circumstances. After I bought my jet and had many successful flights, he bought a jet (the Habu). It has been destroyed on every landing so far and the maiden flight ended up in the field.
I like the fact that there is more examples than my mind on a math test 😂
Hobbyking may suck, but so does eflite. Bought a umx timber x and had to repair the flimsy hinges b4 the first flight. The aileron was about to fall off. Foam Tac is the best. I have 30 flights on an FMS Super EZ, not one problem.
The Hobby King jab was a joke from what we all know to be a stereotype in our industry. We've had new in box planes from every brand show up with one issue or another over time.
you make alotta fun of DJI ... its warranted XD
I do really like mine tho I fly it all the time cuz i love taking pictures of the lakes around my house
enjoying!!!!!
I do have a lot of planes hanging on a wall and could probably never afford all the radio gear it would take build all the ones still in boxes even if I hit the lottery. But it’s just lack of time not afraid to crash them.
The Durafly Tundra has been the only rock steady model from hobbyking. I’d like to see these guys fly one and compare it to all the other bush planes they like.
The only thing that has stopped me from picking up one the Durafly Tundra's is the fact that its so close in price to say a carbon cub s2 BNF. Unless i cant find it or I have to wait but its around $250 and its out of stock in the US so its coming from the EU. So im thinking because of that there might be shipping costs too and wait a few weeks to get, plus basically no support or warranty, but i havent really looked into that tbh.
I like that it has a ton of leds from the factory and would be an awesome plane to have for where i live and even though i have a carbon cub s2 its definitely not as new as it used to be so i wouldnt be against trying one lol.. Did they go on sale for black friday?
We've owned one and weren't fans of it unfortunately.
Idk what you talking about about them Chinese micro warbirds 😂 okay but fr I got it connected to my Qx7 and flying without gyro is so fun. Landing and flying out the box is fun too! I love the challenge of carrier landing the Corsair and Zero onto arresting “cables” (string with rubber bands at the ends) 😊
Very good (RC) philosophy
my first and only plane was bought three months ago. the first time i tried to fly it, it never took off because the prop got snapped on the ground. i have never taken it out since, because the wind is crazy.
Wall of text incoming!
I don't GAF about what other flyers think of my flight skills (well I kinda do) but when I hnonestly screw up, I own it. Botching a landing due to too steep of an approach, yep. Got too careless flying too close to a cinderblock wall... NAILED IT. Having a bird bigger than my model attack my model, didn't see that coming. Leson learned (situational awareness), while flying our RC planes we gotta stay on our toes to keep them flying. From evading preditory birds to RF dead zones, it's far more tricky flying RC than flying a conventional personal aircraft first-person. Been there, done that.
In my view and experience, a skilled RC pilot can fly a Cessna first-hand with little difficulty but an experienced Cessna pilot would be far more likely to crash an RC than a skilled RC pilot would be to crash a first-person personal aircraft as long as they know the controls. Call me biased but i've been in both worlds, flying first-person is by far easier than third person flight.
Nice! We fly both as well and have made videos on these exact topics. Check out our videos titled, "20 Ways RC Preps You For Full Scale", and "RC Flying Beats Full Scale".
Dead-on. I started flight lessons in my teens in a cessna, when I moved on to RC it was a completely different world. There's a huge difference from being at the yoke first person to flying 3rd person several hundred feet away with perspective inverse controls. It's not so much a matter of life and death but a matter of if your $1k + investment survives for the next flight and if you don't cause damage or hurt someone when you bring the bird down. On my end, luckily I've only bashed my own planes avoiding otherwise bad sutuations. Paramotors really should be required to have transponders.
that Jake quote at the end is real food for thought! - thanks for the great upload, per usual.
you're quickly becoming my favorite rc aviation youtubers, i hope others feel the same.
i also find it hilarious that the old guys at my field cant handle your honesty.
Thank you! Glad you’re enjoying the videos…and LOL…to be a fly on the wall for those discussions hahaha ❤️
@@TailHeavyProductions Its just tough love for them they get it, at the very least we ALL agree that BP is horrible cringe content ♥
Good video
