Today Polar has announced the Vantage V2, a touch bit over two years since they announced the initial Polar Vantage V & M series watches. The Vantage V2 essentially takes all those new Grit X and adds a couple more related to running and cycling performance testing. Also, music controls and new watch faces. It is by all definitions a modest update, both in terms of software - but also hardware, with only slight changes to the watch’s exterior design - albeit a significant reduction of weight.

#PolarVantageV2 #PolarVantage #Polar - Sport
Sadly I too saw the same Heart Rate spikes in my Vantage V2 data. Otherwise generally pretty accurate but it's hard to overlook those deviations. Great video as always Ray!
Yeah, it's too bad - I was hoping we'd see them sort that out from the Grit X.
I've a Polar Vantage V and I'm very disappointed (and It's not my first Polar) but in this moment I would prefer a Garmin
Well done for pointing out the ridiculous no notifications during activities too btw
Just wondering if people have seen more HR accuracy when wearing the HR chest strap, especially since it makes more sense to have the HRM mounted on the stem or handlebars.
@@edderepa9685 I wonder, if you can get Bluetooth to work during training. This would be essential for Diabetes typ 1 folks, who want to get their values from their Diabetes sensor like the coming up FreeStyle Libre 3 or Dexcom G6. Unfortunately sports watch producers seem not to have diabetics as their customers so far, which is a shame in my eyes. As technology would allow for more!
Thanks again, always appreciate these reviews!
Thanks!
I currently run with the fr245 and i really like it
However i really liked the polar eco system for it's clear and simple style
I want to go back to polar at some point so im still hoping for a polar watch that checks all my boxes
Great review! Ty
Thanks for the review. Was waiting for that :)
Can always count on a review available minutes after a new smartwatch is released. :)
Or...an hour or two in today's case. 😂 Gotta keep it fashionably late!
You’re such a treasure, man! Thank you for your videos!
Thanks good review and I am enjoying my V2
Great review, I just sold my Apple Watch 4 and bought a Polar Vantage V a couple of months ago. So far I love it, it lacks some smart watch features but the fitness analysis, ability to put workouts in your watch, workout recommendations and recovery all make up for it.
I do miss music control and, as a personal trainer, would love to have the Vo2 tests and see the fuel analyses ... but I’m not sure if it the upgrades are worth it enough to pay out €500.00
I’ll think some more on it, but your review has helped! Thanks
Thanks!
Forget Polar. Garmin series rules.
Excellent video as always... for running, which ecosystem do you prefer, Polar or Garmin? And what about triathlons? Thanks for sharing!
I noticed that your jump tests are higher than mine. Not cool. Also, touch screen on a rainy day and you're making it work. Impressive. I wonder if the HR issues is due to skin tone. I noticed mixed results and I'm ultra pale. Also, I just noticed that sticker in the background. Very nice of you but I was expecting you to stick it to some unsuspecting dutch citizen that you didn't like. Amazing video! Great work on this Ray!
Hahaha... it's been there for a couple weeks now, but I realized recently that it was actually more behind me, and almost impossible to see except if I got up/moved around/etc... 😂
Man, I really wanna love this watch, but Polar keeps letting me down by not including ANT+ Are they even aware how important that is? When I ride on Zwift my powermeter is paired wvia Bluetooth to my iPad so I wouldn't be able to pair it to my watch. With Garmin I can pair the power meter to my Garmin and my tablet. Darn Polar!!! Somebody wake them up!!!!!
I agree it's important. And I think especially so with the FTP test, and needing to control the trainer somehow. It's a legit practical issue that became super obvious to me on my first FTP test attempt with it.
Super great review as always. In the start I thought you spoke a little fast.. but not a big problem.. anyways is the buttons on the V2 been smoother then the previous model?
Nice and thorough video! I just got mine and I'm so confused. How do you get the colors so vivid? With mine it is almost like monochrome :o also is there a way to turn the AOD off?
at heart rate accuracy test you should have compared it to a chest strap. V2 might actually be accurate and other devices wrong. Especially when u clash it up vs a Garmin watch. So many reports saying Garmin is way off. Thank you for the review man !
I enjoy all your reviews. There are so many smartwatches out there now. I have a Garmin Fenix 5S, was thinking of upgrading. If you were looking at any smartwatch on the market today which one would you buy and wear?
I generally believe that unless there's a compelling reason to switch ecosystems, it's usually better for most people to stay in the same ecosystem if otherwise on the fence. Given you've got a Fenix 5S, I'd probably look at the Fenix 6/Pro series, or even if you didn't want to spend that much - the FR745 is the same price as the Vantage V2.
Polar seems to be making this their main cycling computer, which is nuts. The V650 isn't perfect by a long shot... connectivity issues and a serious lack of power based training options... but it's a darn sight better than strapping your watch to the handlebars as if this is the mid-90's.
Hello! Please tell me if it is possible to use "nightly recharge" and "recovery pro + orthostatic test" in this watch at the same time or you need to choose one of these functions, as it was in the previous Polar vantage V? Thanks.
I am going to keep my VV a while longer and buy the VV2 when there is a discount. Right now my VV works great.
@@gustavopaulette3496 , trolling over the internet is easy and something that cowards do.
Gustavo Paulette, oh yeah, let the world know the extent of your intelligence.
Any news about Huawei gt 2 pro? It seems odd you didn't review it yet.
I tested the V2 for a week and was ALMOST there, switching from Garmin to Polar after four years rocking the first.
Then, I ran with my brother who fell (he did not hurt himself that much) and his Apple Watch send me a message that he had an accident. I remembered that one time I would have needed an incident detection feature on my Forerunner 645 breaking my arm on a run years ago, before it got that with a firmware update. I have it on my Forerunner 745, and I have peace of mind knowing that for when I run or bike alone (which I do most of the time).
I returned the V2 the same day. But, if Polar eventually does update the V2 with a crash detection, I´m ready to switch.
Still using the 745? Polar VV2 user here (for weight lifting 5x/week) thinking about trying the 745.
@@CharlesINTEL Still using it.
It is still an awesome little device with much more smart functionality than the V2, but feels more cluttered than the latter.
But for weight lifting, both are an overkill!
Hey, can you write more about the test results. What does polar do with test result? Does it update you HR zones according to test? I'm looking for a watch which could set my HR zones by test results.
Maybe you should add a disclaimer regarding HR zones.
In the Polar community I see that hardly anyone has their HR zones set correctly; they just go with the standard setting which will give you an average HR Max for your age and divides the 5 zones in increments of 10% each. (You should actually do a well supervised HR Max test to set each HR zone correctly according to your personal respiratory performance). This results in some ridiculous HR zone measurements, like 25 minutes of a total of an hour spent in Zone 5 - the red zone. It is NOT possible to perform for more than a few minutes at a time in Zone 5. Let me repeat: If your results show that you are performing for more than 3 minutes at a time in Zone 5 then it's all wrong. Zone 5 is anaerobic training - Anaerobic exercise is any activity that breaks down glucose for energy without using oxygen. (And adding to that it also gives totally wrong Running Index results).
Basically people are buying these highly technological and expensive watches but have no clue how to use them.
PS: After writing this diatribe I continued watching your video, and lo and behold, at 6:59 we get to see that not even DC Rainmaker has his HR Zones set correctly ... Ooops ..
If only apple would update your zones after your test automatically...
Thank you Ray always the best reviews, is it easy to look at your rest while you running at Max effort? why no SPO2 Polar. still wearing Fitbit Sense😁.
Fitbit Versa 3 in this case - though, they're identical from the outside. :) It's pretty easy to see while running for me.
DC Rainmaker can you please explain why Polar don't use SPO2.
@@thani7963 The challenge with SpO2 is proving value. Right now, most of the sensors are accurate, but only when used in very specific ways (sitting quietly/still/etc...). I suspect eventually we'll see Polar add it, but I don't really hear many people asking for it specifically.
Hi there. Are the wrist bands swappable between V and V2 ? Thank you
Hey Ray, This is Manson. Not sure you can remember me, the ex-Mio guy (Mio Link, "His" & "Her" casebacks). I have a suggestion about your HR graphs. Would you please enlarge the legend font size? They are hard to see. Thanks for all your reviews!
Hey Manson - good to hear from you!!! Long time no chat! Good call on the legend font. We had made it small years ago so it wouldn't be in the way, but I agree, it could use a size upgrade.
Just fyi i still use a mio link lol
3:21 "Maximal is you run until you die, which was what I did."
Reason why this video was delayed by 3 days.
Do you know how the guided running programs are with polar, compared to Garmin Coach programs?
It seems to be an already old just released sportwatch.
This is a silly question but can you use the touch screen only or do you need to push the physical buttons when browsing the menus and selecting things?
It’s a damn shame that polar took all the features from the Grid X and The one thing that I would like polar to do is to have the recovery pro feature on the Grid X.
Hi Ray! Are you planning on reviewing the Galaxy Watch 3?
Yup, goes onto my wrist on Monday. :)
Hey Ray, great review. As usual to put this clear!!
I would be interested in how you see Polar’s firmware update strategy in comparison to their competitors. I got my Vantage V v1 about 1,5 years ago when firmware was not just buggy but lacked most (!) of the features. With the release of the Vantage V v2 it is clear that there won’t be new furqther development for the v1.
Do companies like Garmin or Suunto drop development that quickly for their premium watches as well. Quite a bummer!
Martin Weissgerber same with V650 cycle computer and Balance Scale, I’ve now moved to Garmin and wish I’d moved years ago
@@get_outdoors that’s exactly my point: polar products may be great (at least the hardware. And polar flow service especially!). But what’s the point if there are no feature updates? That’s the same reason I buy an iPhone over an Android phone. So yes, I too will probably leave the polar world.
how sensitive/prompt navi is? Is this any quicker than v800? I've been struggling many times to go proper way when there were a few options to chose - as it gives no base map. i was wondering if they've improved it any way.
Can you test if it works reliably with Garmin Speed Sensor 2?
I have the Grit X. Is it possible that Polar will update the G-X with the new features found in the Vantage V2?
Just heard the answer 13 minutes into your video...damn. almost forces you to either get an upgrade or leave Polar....not good. You should always support older models as long as they can process the info. You dont have to give them everything, but dont leave them completely out in the cold either. This is a VERY STRONG reason people leave. But maybe that's not important to Polar....
Any idea when polar will release one with music??
Must say that the tool wall back there has very random tools on it :D
How are Polar running programs comparing to Garmins coach ? A lot of comments here on why Garmins beat Polar (for tracking runs which is my purpose) but Vantage V still works for me (had it for 3 years) so not sure if FR255 or 955 would be great upgrades?
Hill reps in Amsterdam? 🙊
Is there a way to upload Zwift activities to Polar Flow? I wrote couple of times to polar support team but they keep forwarding !!! It seems they don't understand why we need during all those lockdowns
Not exactly the topic for this video... but did you ever do a review of the enormous Casio GBDH-1000?
Not yet.
In your opinion which round face smart watch has the biggest display in the entire industry, as in the actual display size?
Hi Ray. Thanks for all your good work. I've owned and used both the Vantage V and V2 and while the V2 has certain advantages, it has a huge disadvantage for me. For some reason, it doesn't allow reporting out with any accuracy of pool lap information (total yards and time is more or less accurate). I tried to look at the CSV file to discern if this is a reporting issue (maybe), but I know for sure the V gave me the laps, lap times, rests, all with pretty good accuracy. That information is junk when coming from the V2 and unusable. I don't think this is a user error. Any insight here?
thx! good to know!
As always.... Great review. But the V2 without NFC is a no go nowadays.
Fenix 6 or Vantage V2? What does the rainmaker thinks? I am a trail / halfmarathon runner, looking to increase my distances
It depends a bit on your wallet and what you want out of it. You could also look at the FR745, which is the same price as the Vantage V2, and has about 92% of the features of the Fenix 6.
@@Dcrainmakersorry but that's not usefull at all
@@pedrorodrigueztube Why not? It literally depends on what you want out of it. A Fenix 6 or FR745 has far more trail-running focused features than a Vantage V2. But, if you're not going to use those features, it's pointless. Thus my question - what do you want out of it?
Hello DC Rainmaker, What is your daily watch or what what do you find that you use more frequent than otherse?
Once watch review season is over, I'll probably settle back on the FR945, Fenix 6 Pro, or Apple Watch Series 6.
@@Dcrainmaker you have to mutch options haha nice
Nice watch, but as always I feel the are still short from Garmin. Nothing in this products would make me change Garmin for Polar (even though I love Polar flow). Music storage, 22mm wrist bands and interchangeable watch faces are some things that a watch at this price point should have!!!!.
ohhh and the ANT+ deal is really weird!!!! why not include it in this watch???!!!!
@@edutoro11 maybe royalties?
@@thestamsvideoproduction7427 maybe, but it really affects this product compared to all the premium watches, I think.
Bought the garmin vantage 2 ultra when it came out! And was blown away with the features! BUT now March 19,2022 the battery just last ONE day! What happened!??
A Garmin Vantage 2 Ultra 😂
On the music control, they did mention the smartphone can be left at home. Does it true?
Not for music, no. For everything else, yes.
Is it accurate in steps and calories?
I would love these manufactures to stop making screen data where you need a magnify glass to actually see it. Not of all us are 25 year old devs with pin sharp 20/20 vision. I am not taking my reading glasses on a bloody run or cycle.
Grump aside, as premium watch is not really good enough.
I thought the same with my Polar M430 until I realised I could customise the screen to display what I wanted, of course I don't know if it's possible with the model in the video.
Yes! So true....
I've owned a Garmin Fenix 5 plus before the Vantage V1 I currently use. The main thing I love about the Vantage is the integration of recovery feedback, training load and training advice, something that is missing in other watches. Garmin beats Polar in sheer number of features but the features that are implemented in Polar are in general more useful, for me at least. Polar should really look into local music storage though, it would be interesting to know how difficult that really is, or at least make two versions like Garmin. I have €40 Mighty that can even do that.
The fenix does all those things you mentioned. Training load, training status, recovery etc. It's been a staple from the original fenix 5
@@thestamsvideoproduction7427 The Fenix does not provide feedback on how and what you should training based on training load/recovery. The Fenix 5 plus (which is really similar to the Fenix 6) only provides the data, not the qualitative interpretation.
@@flippodud @K 1. training status 2. Training load tells you if you're training too little or too much 3. Training effect will tell you the impact of the specific workout you've just completed. Recovery advisor on Garmin advises you how hard of an effort to take based on recovery time indicated on the watch.
The user then makes a decision based on the data? Maybe I am missing a feature you're referring to?
I had the polar V800 for years and despite the odd strap replacement I loved it. Currently using the fenix 5s which seems decent enough but even with the limitless apps and watch faces I miss the polar app and the workouts choices available from polar like spin and body pump. Is it worth the upgrade? The only thing I can really fault the fenix 5 for is the sleep feedback is sketchy compared to the V800.
@@bennyhill8421 you know Garmin connect has tons of pre built workouts you can send to your watch right? They've been adding different workouts over time.
Apparently the V3 with amoled is coming soon
OK, so....I was going just about to buy the Grit X, stick to the Grit X or wait on this?
I'd probably spend the extra $70 if it were me.
@@Dcrainmaker Thank you Ray, great channel.......always go to you first.
Hallo
does the Vantage V2 count the steps while cycling?
Hallo!
Is the V2 screen brighter than the Vantage V? Thanks.
It’s not so much brighter, as it is crisper and with darker blacks. Same as Grit X.
@@Dcrainmaker thanks a lot!
Will there be a Titan 2 ??
What would you recommend for a sportive guy like me, who primarily does his workouts for getting fitter and better for competitive badminton?
Mainly bodyweight HIIT, rope skipping cardio and Intervall, some running too.
Normally I play 3-4 days per week at my club/tournaments.
After waiting and checking a lot of watches finally I decided to go with a Garmin Venu 2. You should check it too
I like that Polar stays focused on the main thing - sports training! But actually even the newer models are moving more and more direction of Garmin. I think that’s a mistake. I still think the V800 is still the best Polar training watch. I don’t need/want battery draining color/touch displays or super small text that you can’t read when running or if you have older eyes.
When I want to know how fast I am, I go on a track or I do a competition. For me all those new features are a desperate attempt to make people buy new devices. Unfortunately Polar doesn't go for Maps and Navigation, so still no competition for Garmin in that field.
As far as I know grit x and v2 have komoot integration and can record, export and import training sessions / tracks you or other people did, but I guess you are looking for real navigation features like in the car / with Google maps, so no real solution for you with the polar watches?
@@bjornprompeler9424 No, I have a Fenix and the offline track navigation with maps is a feature I don't want to miss. So Polar is no option for me, as long as they don't deliver that.
@@bjornprompeler9424 even suunto has an integration mapping tool! This is so good to cremte new roads! Suunto is realygood, its the hidden champion in that field!
@@alancampbell6236 probaply you love suunto
I’ve really come to the conclusion that Polar is just making watches meant to be worn during activity and not really other times (considering sleep an activity as well). Which I don’t mind as I just use my M for training and sleep and wear my Apple Watch as my daily driver. I think they’ve just given up on making lifestyle or true smart watches like Apple and Garmin are.
Now, if only bike rides could be pulled from Strava (or uploaded from Wahoo I guess) and included in the fitness calculations and so on, happening on the Polar side. Polar barely even has a bike head unit available.
Is there any watch/platform that will include data recorded "outside the ecosystem" into the core metrics?
I'm not aware of anything that includes 'outside' metrics, at least from a watch/device standpoint. From a platform perspective yes (meaning, like a TrainingPeaks or such).
@@Dcrainmaker That's what I thought. It's really a pity because it's making me stick with a low-end watch because I wouldn't get much of the benefits of the higher end units. And it's frustrating too, because all the data is there! They just... refuse to look at it if it didn't come from a unit with the right brand name on it. Walled gardens suck.
I think polar have given up on cycling. So far behind its competitors. Want a head unit that syncs with my watch (vantage m) in a useful and complementary way. My polar head unit won't even sync with a polar cadence meter.
I fully agree. I owned a v650 but sold it because polar didn’t upgrade it anymore. Especially missed the navigation functions (turn by turn) and phased training with power. Incredible that it is still not possible to train based on my powermeter. I also own a Vantage M and a garmin edge 530. To get all my running, swimming and cycling data in Polar flow I record my bike rides on my watch and my Garmin. My powermeter connects with both of them at the same time.
Don’t know if I would buy a new Polar watch next time. Using one brand makes life a lot easier.
What about swim accuracy? The first Vantage Gen had lots os issues with swim.
so does the Polar 800. I've never gotten it to work in a pool.
I bought a Polar Grit X in August, 2020. Tried it for three days and unfortunately hated it: touchscreen is cumbersome and unresponsive, the plastic base feels and looks extremely cheap, smartwatch features and connectivity are abysmal. I have been previously a Polar user and really wanted to get back to Polar but yeah... after three days I took it back to shop, paid additional 170 and switched to Garmin Fenix 6 Pro and now I'm a happy camper. Did really not want to piss on Polar but lately their devices suck.
Apparantly I'm the only happy Polar (Vantage V) owner here ^^
K me too! I love my polar vantage v
@@flippodud would yout tell uns why?
@@mikec1571 hey would you tell me what do you like?
@@dwahnsinn Nightly recharge works and is very accurate, together with training load this gives me a good overview of my recovery/wellness. I also like the fact that my VV is light weight, compared to a bulky Fenix, functional Komoot integration, Running Index, power on the wrist etc Garmin shows more data on some aspects, but more detail comes with greater margin of error too and does not always provide more useful information. My 2 cents, but again you can't go wrong either way.
Still waiting for V800 V2. Then ill come back to polar.
🤣🤣🤣
@@Baranskyi Somewhat agree.... but that ship has sailed...
Will you be doing a review of the Samsung galaxy 3?
Yup! Goes on my wrist here in a few hours. :)
@@Dcrainmaker that's great! I'm really wanting to buy one but want to see what you think of it. You do awesome reviews.
Really interested in battery life, if the flip to wake works smoothly, how the mobile app shows metrics, how accurate the health metrics are, can you make a call with the Bluetooth version if the phone is connected in your pocket and is the Google assistant available yet? If it didn't cost another $10 a month on Verizon I'd buy the lte version. $5 reasonable but $10 for a watch is too much
for me! if Polar can add answering/making calls' to the vantage V2, so we don't have to take out your phone or stop training during my training session will be a perfect watch for me.
Garmin watches offer pace alarm sensor and Polar does not. I have not find how to set a pace range and get alarm from my Polar Vantage watch.
When is it available?
It’s already on sale
do you think polar will bring a software update to the vantage v1 with some features of the v2?
No, the stated in a FAQ document sent to the media/press that they don't plan to bring those features to either the Vantage V1 or Grit X. :(
Sad😥
This is why I dumped Polar, they don’t support their product or customers, moved to Fenix 6 Pro and never looked back
Is there any hardware upgrade over the Vantage V, is the sat chip the same, are those new optical sensors more accurate , it seems to me that those new features are gimmicks, many not even linked with running, its music, weather, all that nonsense junkware.
Honestly, I'm looking for a top spec fitness band to be released. One that I can wear on the opposite wrist to a more general smartwatch or a good old analogue/digital one.
It's odd that after the Grit X that they're pushing ahead with the different heart rate sensor.
Not being able to store music on the watch is a disappointment. A feature I really like when going to the gym or a run when I leave my phone at home. Even though the sound quality isn't great I've realy come to like this feature on my Garmin. I'd be very intrested to see how it plays together with Komoot.
The sound quality isn't great on Garmin? Which model do you have?
I will keep my V800
Very informative review. Please consider to review Garmin 6X Pro. Looking forward to it. Liked & subscribed. Thanks
Thanks! As for the Fenix 6X Pro, I've included it within my Fenix 6 series review: czcams.com/video/jHTEJjBGrGI/video.html - enjoy!
So the only new thing is that the v2 costs more?
Really want this watch to be better than most things Garmin offers, we're getting dangerously close to some sort of monopoly...
👍🏻
Hi Ray. Why doesn’t Polar put out another Wear OS watch? They could likely put out a better watch than the Suunto 7.
I do agree, Polar's first attempt at Wear OS years ago now was actually way ahead of its time compared to what Suunto did, specifically from an app standpoint. Inversely, Suunto's watch is super pretty and externally way better than the M600 (which...basically was the ugliest thing Polar has ever released). I suspect we'll eventually see Polar get back into that game, but I think it's wise to wait for Wear OS battery improvements to happen (for realz, not just the ones everyone keeps saying already happened).
DC Rainmaker The M600 could at least pair with an external HR strap, if my memory serves me correctly. But, it was painfully uncomfortable to wear. With the 4100 processor, it might happen. Reviews report good battery life generally with the Ticwatch Pro 3.
@@johnmanley4528 Indeed, external straps, even customizing data fields, pages, sport profiles, zones, and best I can tell, structured workouts. Crazy!
I still use their attempt at a Wear OS device, the M600. Overall it's pretty good, but it's very bulky and I find it uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time. And it desparately needs more buttons; touchscreens suck for exercise.
The main thing that held it back was Wear OS. It was very laggy. This was partly due to the hardware not being available, which is only just being addressed now with 1GB RAM on watch SoCs. Like much of what Google do, it's a resource hog.
@@tams805 I could not wear it at all. It hurt my wrists
Is a power meter necessary to do the Orthostatic test?
Did you slow down the video on purpose? You seem to talk slower than usual ;)
Hahaha...I think maybe just a bit more tired than usual!
So if I have a fenix 6x...is this worth the upgrade
no, I even think it's downgrade :D
Haha, it will be downgrade. If F6x OHR is accurate on your hand and you work out with cheststrap, then going to Polar is downgrade
But what about the leg ready and vo2max test?
@@patkob2180 as you can see from the video, Garmin shows almost the same VO2 number (57 vs 58). Leg recovery? Probably you'll use it once or twice and you'll forget about it. Vantage interface is still laggy and you don't have the crazy capable navigational and other functions. In my opinion you'll be disappointed after your experience with the 6x.
After being a Polar Loop 1 then a Vantage V user, I can say that Polar lost my trust. I just ordered a Garmin Venu 2. I think the V2 is overpriced for what it offers. Yes, I agree that it’s purpose built, but I’m using my watch not just only for training. I want phone integration throughout the day and wireless payment. These are dealbreakers for me. Not to mention that Polar still not fixed a lot of annoying things for the Vantage, like the continuously upcoming fw upgrade notifications for versions that already installed months ago, saving option for the interval timers and the all or nothing phone notifications. And the list just continues.
Thumbs up for the vid, but thumbs down for the watch. Really disappointed to hear about the HR and GPS inaccuracies, especially when cycling outdoors. You'd think that by now watch manufacturers would have worked out that these metrics are kind of important to us. I'm also starting to get tired of these full price incremental upgrades.
Maps?
Nope. :(
I’ll wait for the V2 Titan

Alberto Gil Rivas Same here. V800, OH1 Sync problems with iOS, Android, Mac. GPS issues ... The new Polar series haus a nice design, but thats not important over all ;-)
Polar ANX500... V800... Vantage V which let me down big time on a 2 day hike, tired of Polar ditching their product once the next best thing is released. had been a polar user, now a satisfied garmin FR245 user. But the price for something that average is really getting ridiculous. Never ever I would pay more than $€300 for a regular watch (same goes for garmin). My training matters, not the funny watch.
500 dollars for that watch is ridiculous. Should have a bezeless oled dial and watch faces as with android os.
Why?
@@Dcrainmaker cuz the quality should meet the price and software.
@@abbottsmilereviews6112 Except an OLED display kills battery life. The purpose of this watch - arguably single focused purpose - is as a multisport triathlon watch that gets you through an Ironman Race - so, max 17 hours. Or, an ultra run at 30-40 hours. There's zero OLED/AMOLED/LCD screen on the market that comes close to that with GPS. Thus, it's really not the same purpose at this point. And WearOS is a big part of that battery burn - as we see on the Suunto 7 for example.
Do you agree that it is just a firmware update? I really didn't like it when they said they won't introduce the updates to the previous version. proves my theory that only software is updated, now 550 bucks for a software? noway bro. And Polar lost a fan right here. they stooped too low on this.
I stopped listening at the 8 minute mark when I found out there isn't any music storage on the watch. Boo.
So the gritx won't even have the dashboard customization? Shame on polar :(
"Kinda of a nice touch...."
😂😂😂😂 bought the initial V, won’t do the same mistake twice.....
No longer supported, old tech now. Polar dumps on its customers all the time, moved over to Garmin Fenix 6, there’s no comparison to Polar, don’t know why I wasted all those years with Polar products
@Chokwe because they marketed the optical HR sensor as the best in the industry.
That was a lie.
The overall handling just sucks. You can’t leave a workout without closing it for example.
OS development takes forever, it was in beta state when it was first sold
And so on and so on....
@@get_outdoors how long have you been using Garmin? Do you track swimming with it too? Does it give a workout program based on your stats?
The watch shows the wrong wake-up time and unfortunately it cannot be edited. Poor product
Polar is stupid. No music storage in 2020? PASS!!!
Dude, in 2020 no one stores music files. Just use your phone and a streaming service.
burtonBG dude - actually lots of people use music on their watch in 2020. Maybe you don’t, or some folks you run with don’t, but I know LOTS of people who do. There’s clearly a need in the market. It’s always funny when people extrapolate their needs or interests or wishes as being representative of the ENTIRE market. Everyone wants different stuff.
@@narosser No man, this is clearly stupid.
@@burtonBG Who still runs with their phone?
@@fidelbanuelos9601 most of the people do. It's a useful device and can save your life in case of emergency. Just put it in a running belt or sleeve. It's far less hassle than having to sync files to your watch every time when you want new music. And if you after all insist to store your music why it has to be on your watch? There are tons of sport headphones with built in player and storage.
