I have been so sad about David Lindley this week. I can't even imagine how Jackson Browne feels. They were such a great duo, and I remember when Jackson came out to play wearing a David Lindley tshirt. So much respect for him as a friend and artist.
Did not know, of Mr. Lindley's passing, this very year. A humongous musical talent, saw with Jackson, and I believe solo in Cambridge, House of Blues. RIP!

Bruce Hornsby on the piano. I love going to Red Rocks to see a concert. I saw Bonnie there with alot of special visits by other artists. They all love to play there so all their friends show up. Great show. Red Rocks is outside of Denver in the foothills. Jackson is so good in person. He is one of those rare artists who sound even better live. His smaller Acoustic shows are fantastic.

The best lyrics by one of the most underrated songwriters EVER, .. that’s Bruce Hornsby on piano. Just an incredible rendition of a great JB song with great musicians. ‘79 I believe?
@@24680jru Yes, he looked a lot younger in '79. Underrated? Among people I know (mostly musicians), he is considered one of the greatest songwriters of all time.

These Days. Late for the Sky. Farther On. Sky Blue and Black. Shape of A Heart. Sleep's Dark and Silent Gate. JB knows it all, feels it all, gives it all back to us in his music. JB unites us all in the communal challenge, emotion, regret, luck, and loss of our so separate and solitary lives.

I met Jackson Browne after a concert he did in 1970 in Albany, NY. His first album had just dropped. We struck up a conversation after the concert. I thought he had the same guitar I had, a Martin D-35 [he didn't]. I told him "Mark my words, you're going to be a BIG STAR". "Thank you," he said. "You're very kind". Next thing I know, he asks me if I want to come see him on his Northeast Tour dates. "Oh YES," I practically screamed. He put me on his backstage pass list for 2 years. I was in heaven. I also got some great soundboard recordings.

Jackson Browne. The Lord's gift to mankind. I cry each time I listen to your incredible songs and their poignant lyrics.
Yes, yes, yes! Definitely a gift from the Lord!
Lindley. My favorite JB band musician. Love that sound.
Blessed to have been in the audience. It was a magical night.
I was there also!~
They did a better show with Springsteen in 1989.
Every one was wearing jackets.. I bit chilly that evening?
A beautiful rendition of one of the best, and most beautiful songs ever written...by anyone.

I LOVE JBs version of TAKE IT EASY! When LINDLEY is playing Slide!
So fabulous!! A David Lindley tour de force, as well as all the rest!

The studio version with Lowell George on slide and harmonies is sublime. RIP Lowell.
He can make it cry and sing. David and Jackson...it just works perfectly.
There is nothing like the sound of David Lindley on steel guitar.
billvill61 let alone shawn colvin on vocals and Bruce hornsby on the keys
Except maybe Lowell George's slide on the original album version.
Except maybe David Lindley on fiddle...
Lindley is a genius ❤

I'm sitting down by the highway
Down by that highway side
Everybody's going somewhere
Riding just as fast as they can ride
I guess they've got a lot to do
Before they can rest assured
Their lives are justified
Pray to God for me baby
He can let me slide
'Cause I've been up and down this highway
Far as my eyes can see
No matter how fast I run
I can never seem to get away from me
No matter where I am
I can't help thinking I'm just a day away
From where I want to be
Now I'm running home, baby
Like a river to the sea
Baby, if you can see me
Out across this wilderness
There's just one thing
I was hoping you might guess
Baby you can free me
All in the power of your sweet tenderness
Yeah (yeah)
Well, I can see it in your eyes
You've got those bright baby blues
You don't see what you've got to gain
But you don't like to lose
You watch yourself from the sidelines
Like your life is a game you don't mind playing
To keep yourself amused
I don't mean to be cruel, baby
But you're looking confused
Baby if you can hear me
Turn down your radio
There's just one thing
I want you to know
When you've been near me
I've felt the love stirring in my soul
Yeah (yeah)
Yes I have
It's so hard to come by
That feeling of peace
This friend of mine said:
"Close your eyes, and try a few of these"
I thought I was flying like a bird
So far above my sorrow
But when I looked down
I was standing on my knees
Now I need someone to help me
Someone to help me please
Baby, if you need me
Like I know I need you
There's just one thing
I'll ask you to do
Take my hand and lead me
To the hole in your garden wall
And pull me through

David Lindley is "part and parcel" of Browne's signature sound. Without Lindley, Browne is just a shadow of his formative albums !
