totally agree! I have about 12 of his CD's and I never get tired of listening to them... his music just grows on you! You keep marveling over just different bits of genius in each song every time you listen to it. Glad radio never ruined his music!

I never understood why John Hiatt didn't make it huge, he's hands down one of the best songwriters in the last 50 years, his fan base is so strong and loyal. When John, Lyle Lovett, Ron Ely and Guy Clark did their songwriters tour I saw them at Toronto's Massey Hall (still my favorite venue), and there was no doubt who the crowd favorite was. Every time it was JH's turn the audience would shout requests, prompting Lyle Lovett to say "why don't you just play a medley?".

I agree with you Quincy. Truly original, absolutely amazing. His range is out of this world.

Frankly... "Stolen Momments" is my all time favorite JH album. I would even put it in my top 10 albums of all time. Totally perfectly recorded contageous songs. I guarantee anyone reading this buy it you will love it by 12 times listening and it gets better from there!

Agree but I love! "Bring Back Your Love" totally awesome! Rock Back Billy is a great Rockabilly song. Thats what I love too about that album cause he shows an amazing range of song types from rockabilly to love songs and anthems incredible breathe of work. Every song recorded with precision! Perfect vocals and instrumentals- Amazing! it remains so obscure- cant figure it out?? This album was close second or third (can't decide which) to Stolen Momments in my book!

My advise is to get ALL of his CD's, especially Riding with the King, Overcoats ( yeah I know it's kind of strange...but it grows on you) and the classic A & M records.

Everyone should have 2 bit Monsters, Perfectly Good Guitar, Walk on, Crossing Muddy Waters and Tiki Bar! Those are great albums. Not a bad song on any of them except Mr. Stanley on Crossing Mud.

Yeah, Stolen Moments is also great. But in my mind it is not as solid as the others. I don't like songs like Rock Back Billy or Bring Back Your Love To Me (One of them might be on Bring the Family, I am just namedropping from the top of my head). But on the otehr hand Real Fine Love, Through Your Hands and The Rest of the Dream are among his best songs ever.
