    -----------------------------------------------------------------
Dragon's Dogma 2 is an action role-playing game played from a third-person perspective. In the game, the player takes on the role of a character called the "Arisen", a hero marked by a dragon whom they must defeat. The player explores the world they live in, taking on quests, and fighting monsters, while being caught up in a geopolitical conflict between two kingdoms. To assist in this, the Arisen relies on allies called "Pawns", non-playable characters who join the player's party. These characters are AI-controlled, but function like player-controlled avatars, able to assist in fights, provide information on enemies, and give guidance to currently active quests. Players can each create and customize their avatar and their own Pawn character with different genders, appearances, and race. In addition, players can recruit two additional Pawns that have been created by other players.

Dude The Ox cart thing is really funny as fukk. Its really trying to go for Read dead 2 level of immersion along with dumb shit. XD But yeah i was gonna say "Dont give your pawn, or chose any pawn online with certain crazy abilities as melee fighter" but i realized "you do them against Chimeras and drags" lol ~ so yea funny thing abt your Ox definitely not a bug. Actually there might be a work-around with getting the pawn back, if it's still in the new game, go to your history in the pause menu and add to favorites and in the rift walk to the stone and there should be a summon menu press search and there you can summon again past summons or pawns you favorited.

You mentioned it numerous times... "this game isn't for everyone." I think that's one of many issues with the industry right now. Devs want to make games that appeal to everyone, watering down systems and gameplay in turn making a generic run of the mill game.

agreed. if you try to appeal to everyone. it won't appeal to anyone. simply because you always appeal to the weakest common denominator.
meaning shallow generic junk for the masses. just because something is popular doesn't mean it is a good game.
studio's really need to go back to learning about the demograph they want to appeal to. and make a game that is actually made for that group.
there are plenty of big studio's doing just fine having more specialized games for a more specific player group.
You don't have to make ALL the profit. You just have to make profit in order to be sustainable.

Im not sticking up for the game companies bad practices, I’m saying stop putting blind faith in companies and giving them your money without researching the product beforehand. Yes, we should be able to trust companies to deliver games without problems at launch, but they’ve proven we can’t. So take some accountability or responsibility or whatever when you purchase a shit product, it’ll be less likely to happen again. Technical Artist here, chiming in in regards to the performance drop while a lot of humanoid characters are present:
This may very well be because humanoids tend to have many layers (including their body mesh and elements of equipment) attached to their main "skeleton" that are treated in turn very similarly as separate skeletons that need to be animated. This can create heavy CPU load because one humanoid may require each equipment slot's current position to be calculated individually in relation to the wearer's skeleton.
As opposed to a lot of creatures that are treated as single skeleton and are thus way "lighter" performance-wise, since they are often only one single skeleton.
Tldr: humanoids are often way heavier to process because they are more customizable in body characteristics and equipment.

Most game devs spend 1-3 years on their games. 1 for something yearly like whatever latest cod comes out, 2 or 3 for any other game with a modicum of effort put into them, or just misuse of time and resources.
Rockstar took 8 years and around 100 million dollars to make rdr2.
Gta5 took 252 million dollars to make, which is weird because it's much less impressive than rdr2, but that cost may be calculated after advertising unlike rdr2 cost.
Then there's larian studios with baldurs gate 3 and they took 6 years to make bg3, and a budget estimated between 100-200 million before advertising.
But really a big budget or long development time isn't what makes a good game.
The greatest game ever made only took 2 years and an estimated 20 million dollars or less to make.
NieR:Automata is the game in cas you're curious.
You just need the right people working on something they love uninterrupted by any big wig investors with only money on their mind.

The games I enjoy the most were the ones that felt original and didn’t have a “by the numbers” walkthrough. Games like Metal Gear and Assassins Creed 1 and a few others did it so well. For old school gamers like me I think this is going to be a huge hit but for people who go in expecting “dodge and roll” and everything else that every other game does
this likely won’t be for you. Challenge yourself to play games that don’t lead you or give you all the answers. Those are the games that leave you wanting more and looking forward to sequels.

It's funny, everything you described in the Emergent Encounters from taking the armor off a cyclops and stabbing it in the eye to killing enemies by tricking them into jumping off a cliff, that's all stuff you could do in the first game. DD1 is one of my favorite games of all time, but even I have to admit that it was always rough around the edges and I understand most people bouncing off of it. So my main hope is that the modern polish of the sequel can introduce a new generation of people to the awesome gameplay that the series is known for, sorta like with Monster Hunter World.

Personal preference changes with age and how much free-time you have. I used to enjoy games that took up a lot of time and you had to work things out for yourself, but these days I don't have the patience. I can barely get an hour of gaming in per day sometimes, so I don't want to be spending half the time wandering aimlessly or looking up solutions. If there's PC performance issues, I think that's also something that's not inspiring me for a day one purchase. Will wait for some patches and hopefully a discount. I sometimes get the feeling game devs make games with journalists in mind rather than players. Most people don't have 25-30 hours just to get to the part where the game starts to get interesting, which is something that happens often now, and playing big, dense games in 1 hour sessions can get confusing, because you don't connect as easily with the dozens of different characters that make up the story. I think this is why many players enjoyed games like Marvel's Avengers, because they are just mindless fun. You hop in, do a mission and hop out.

I even upgraded my Ryzen5 3600 for a more recent 5600x but at this point I'm sure my rig is going to struggle anyway. It's a real shame. Hogwarts Legacy had a similar problem where in Hogsmeade the performance would decrease significantly. And in Hogwarts Legacy, even though the problem was still somewhat present, I have found that a pirated copy ran significantly better than the game I purchased on Steam. So I am fairly convinced Denuvo is to blame for at least some of these problems, and I hope it gets removed soon from the game. The expense reports say that Capcom actually spends more of its Earning than Fromsoft does.
If Capcom isnt finishing their games its because they hit that budget cap, considering Capcom is spending more of its Earnings it cant afford to continue development if the development isnt going well so they focus their teams to get out what they can in that budget.
Its why the CEO wants $100 games. Kind of out of touch and its probably too much spending on management but at the same time They are spending over half of their income back into the market.

Would you compare the open world of this game to the "open-world" of God of War? Where you can go anywhere in that certain area but not 'anywhere' like you can in RDR2 and, as you mentioned, elden ring?

I really wanted to play it but I can't convince myself to support a game that has such disgusting microtransactions. A single player game having any micro transactions is bad enough, but a $70 game that cuts out fundamental features to sell them back to you is disgusting. Maybe I'll cave eventually but it doesn't look like I'm missing anything given it's horrible micro transactions, steep price, and the fact that it runs like shit.

Everything sold as a microtransaction can be found in-game. It's stupid, yes, but nothing in the "online shop" is required to play the game and no features have been removed. It's absolutely the Capcom executives that set up those microtransactions, not the developers themselves, and unfortunately those execs only see games in terms of dollar signs.

I loved the first game, it is a true fantasy action RPG to me. I love the fact that you had to explore and find things and how quick the story actually was because it made repeat play throughs interesting imo. If you played the first game you would understand the endgame and how it all wrapped back into itself

@@steeledclub6368 the issue is that they influence and affect the games design more and more.
And it’s not a matter of not buying them, because they are aimed at a small minority that always falls for them. Or as the devs call them “whales” (which comes from how casinos would call their high paying customers..).

The micro transactions are mostly what come with my deluxe edition copy anyway, and there just in game items that you can get by working for them. The only reason to buy them is if you’re lazy. All the items are in the game. They’ve not an item that be obtained by buying only like in Diablo 3. So, I really don’t see the issue!
