The first reconstruction is slightly odd, all the stuff about him going to the nightclub which didn't seem to have anything to do with his murder, plus the neighbours watching television and getting in bed. Why didn't they just start with him arriving back?
This is one episode that I have been awaiting upload for years. I videod it when originally broadcast and some details and scenes stuck in my mind for years ie the sexual assaults on women on the beach in Aberdeen but the disturbing parts to see again was the violent burglaries on the Welsh borders, the man who was woken up and confronted by the three masked men in his home and the man walking his dog outside his home and looks up and disturbs the three masked men. I might have nightmares tonight after seeing this after so many years.
Maybe it's just a conspiracy theory on my part, but it's funny how some of the most important/shocking cases were the ones that didn't appear on here for a long time. Feb 1992 is another example. Just been uploaded recently.
@@ajs41You mean Stephanie Slater? The Crimewatch File has been up for ages, so I think it's just a coincidence. I know what you mean about these really notorious cases though- very serious ones that got lots of publicity and took a time to solve. Far fewer people read newspapers and watch the main news broadcasts, and there's no Crimewatch, so cases don't really grow in the public consciousness like they used to.

I read that as "hanged himself" at first!
I just love classic crimewatch episodes, it should have never finished.
“The police were there in three minutes …” These days it would be more like three weeks, that is if they bothered to turn up at all …
Why do they always have to hurt the doggies?! What did those poor little babies do to them FGS!!!!! 🤬
what about all the people who are hurt?

Andrew battens killer had four years for manslaughter.now that’s criminal
Man's laughter. 4 years for taking a life is pathetic, you would get more time for stealing.
Plus he wasn’t caught until 20 years later (2015) so he got to enjoy freedom and live his life all that time. It’s not right 😣
Did they get the murder of John Eden?
21:15 looks like a young Mandy Patinkin from The Princess Bride 😂
Was this episode done before the 6th december 1995? Surprised the essex boys was not flying round this episode must of been day before
13th December I think, only know because in the first reconstruction they show the Nov 95 show which states when the next episode is.

That detective looks like and sounds like he couldn't give a shit about what happened John Eden. Even Nick Ross himself is like "I couldn't be arsed".
I disagree I couldn't detect any I couldn't be arsed undertones from either the detective or Nick Ross for that matter.
People didn't "emote" in public back then as much as they do now, so maybe it was just that. It doesn't mean they didn't care about it.
Why should he? Eden wasn´t his uncle.
there seemed little of the usual 'this was a truly savage attack' or much background about reasons why the villain may have wanted to kill
They ruined the theme tune
