Trains at Leeds - 02/04/2024

Filmed on 02/04/2024. Moving onwards to our second Yorkshire County from the South to the West. For those who has guessed it than yes this is Leeds (Season 11 Episode 7)
The Transpennine route upgrade works of electrifying the line fully between York and Manchester Piccadilly is well underway between Leeds and Manchester via Dewsbury. Which is why on selected dates the engineering works are in place. Transpennine Express oddly puts on a shuttle service running between Leeds and Dewsbury where rail replacement buses runs through to Huddersfield and Manchester Piccadilly. Diversions are in place which see's Transpennine Express running a limited service via Brighouse.
More and more of the Northern class 331/0's are becoming more common now for services between Leeds to Skipton/Bradford/Ilkley of which Northern are undergoing plans to extend the station platforms which the future will see pairing of 331/0's making it for 6 carriage units to run along the line.

Great video Ricky. 8:53 The loco number was 91130 'Lord Mayor of Newcastle' & 9:05 the turbostar was 170476 not 474. I don't think freight trains come through Leeds some of them avoid Leeds station. Thanks for sharing and have a nice weekend. Take care, Arnold

Ah, my bad Arnold. I lost real time train info so had to use Open Train Times which doesn't have the unit numbers.
There is the odd daily tanker train to and from Neville Hill delivering fuel I think. But, the nearest place freight would be either Castleford or Wakefield Kirkgate.

Wow, I actually didn't realise how small a nine car Azuma was on P6, the 91s and HSTs, they took all of the platform but those azumas, they have plenty of room to spare out there for more

Was quite surprised by the amount of space there is available to get them in. Yeah, I can remember the space they took up. But, they now depart from platform 11 I think it is now for the 225 sets.
