    QOTD: ⚡ If you don't usually carry coins, would you still consider carrying this wallet? If so, why?

    • @O_Rei
      @O_Rei Před 4 lety +5

      walletopia Even if I didn’t carry goins (which I do), I’d still use this wallet as my daily driver without thinking twice because 1) its coin compartment can easy fit my key and 2) the construction that separates the layers of leather makes it INCREDIBLY easy to smoothly separate each bill and pull out just the one you need, which is something cash wrap wallets (in my experience, Wingback’s and Trove’s) normally struggle with.

      @nmborto1 Před 4 lety +3

      I like almost everything about it but the snap on the outside. I don’t know why but I think I’d prefer a magnetic attachment or some other unique fastening method.

    • @O_Rei
      @O_Rei Před 4 lety +6

      Nate Bortolini I had a jacket with a strong magnetic fastening that stopped working in about 18 months. Although I see your point and know that a magnetic fastener gives it a cleaner aesthetic (which some prefer; I don’t always), the button fastener gives it more durability in the long run.

      I own it and one hidden feature worth mentioning is the following. It is possible to put up to 5 or 6 coins next to each other and /or above each other inside the coin compartment. If you then close the wallet the coins usually stay in position because of the build structure. As a result those coins add only approx. 2mm of bulk.

    I like that having cash in there doesn't block other compartments dysfunctionally (like some other wallets where access to certain card slots are just gone if you have cash in there). It's 97% there, if the coin compartment had a transparent window (so that it could serve alternatively as an ID holder), I'd say it's perfect.

    To all long term users of this fantastic looking wallet. I know that this question has come up already, but I still wonder if cards can accidentally slip out? What is if less than 5 cards are inserted and does the card compartment widen by time? These are the only thoughts which keep me off from making a purchase.

      My wallet holds 6 cards (2 credit cards, an ATM card, drivers license, health insurance card and my public transportation card). Even if I take one card out it doesn’t really slip out. As for the stretching; the card slot was tight at first, but eventually the wallet stretched enough for the sixth card to fit in comfortably. I bought this wallet in April of 2015 and I can say it is the best wallet I’ve purchased. Hope this helps!

      I don't have long-term experience with it, others who have used it could comment. The vertical grip on the cards is good, so when you insert there is friction in order to keep them in place. Once the wallet has broken in over time, I imagine it's possible.

    I literally choked on my drink when I heard the damn price. That's WAY too expensive for a wallet in my book. The reinforced" stitching on certain points do seem to maybe make it more durable - but that small strap inside and between the coin pocket and the cash would bug me to no end just because it's there. I get that it's supposed to hold the wallet flush - but it's like adding an unnecessary extra step when sewing both halves shut would have been easier in the design. I guess they just want it to be fancy-schmancy.

    • @walletopia
      @walletopia  Před 4 lety +1

      Proven snap closure, I do like magnets as they're sleeker and, but I would be concerned that magnets would hold it shut well enough in this case. Plus the magnets being placed directly against the card portion in front would be problematic for demagnetization to gain the magnet strength needed to keep it closed. The Pitaka wallet (which we'll be publishing a review on soon) is a big example of that problem. BUT that said, it would be interesting to experiment with this to see if it could be done. Having the visual on this be just leather on the exterior makes it that much more of a clean look.
