  • Welcome to my new series Straightforward Tanks where I show you how to paint WW2 tanks using nothing but an aerosol primer, normal acrylics paints and brush techniques. This time I show you how to paint Britsh desert camo using a Rubicon A15 Crusader as a subject.

      Well, I did that the wrong way around. I went and bought a tank from WG and then came here :(

    Very useful, especially being made with us non air brushers in mind.

    nice to see someone moving away from the use of an airbrush.

      +David Martin I still use airbrushes in my own work but I do feel that you don't always need use an airbrush to get good results.

    Excellent job. I've been following for a bit as any time I can get commissions out the door faster is a plus. Your work on the GOA stuff was very helpful too as I normally don't tackle SciFi. Also appreciate the use of the Army Painter line. It's a good line usually overshadowed by others. One thing I'd like to see is a quick and easy tutorial on the German Ambush camo scheme. Keep up the great work!

      +Richard Danda Thanks :) You may seen in some of my others comments that I am planning on covering more complex camo schemes in my futures videos so I will certainly keep the German Ambush camo in mind.

    Brilliant vid . Thank you. have looked into getting an airbrush but that method looks very complicated . With this method I already have similar processes to painting minis ...I may need a couple of larger brushes, other than that all I need is a tank!

    iv only just found your page and I must say iv picked up more tips watching a handful of your videos than anyone else on CZcams but I have one question. am just starting out modelling tanks and planes so don't have a lot of paints to use so what is a good brand/set of paints to buy?? also keep up the great videos

    • @PeteTheWargamer
      @PeteTheWargamer  Před 5 lety +1

      Army Painter is a pretty solid buy, the paints are high pigment and pretty affordable. Just make sure that you shake your paints (ALOT) before first use as they have a tendency to separate in the bottle after being left alone for a while.

    This looks great… would you use the same for panzers?

    • @PeteTheWargamer
      @PeteTheWargamer  Před 8 lety +1

      +Ian Campbell Yep, the same technique could easily be applied to DAK forces. However, to mix it up a little bit you could opt for a lighter base coat such as the Skeleton Bone spray primer instead.

    I tried this on Universal Carriers but it didn’t turn out right. Never mind, an alcohol bath for a week for them and I’ll try again.
