@@Renfail More OT, I'm not sure what to think (yet). I am level 5, and trying to get to Freeport so I can start grouping up. It's slow, but I don't hate it. I do wish it had organic drop in/drop out grouping, however, like F76 or GW2. I think every MMO game, going forward, should have opt-in grouping, at least in the "open world."
I think I'll be giving this game a go again. I haven't played since it was released so I know a lot has changed. It's been sitting in my steam list for a while, just haven't downloaded it yet. I'll probably jump in your discord to say hi within the next few days.
The Origins server is a LOT different than the live game or the other progression servers, so it's best to reserve judgement as it's really its own thing.
Hello! I played EQ1, Talon Zek server, guild Pandemonium, for several years back in the day. (Yes, I'm old as well.) I just downloaded for Origins and was thinking I'll probably need a guild here in a bit. I see your message for Discord! I haven't even decided what class I want to play, most like an Enchanter or Bard, EQ2 version, but I'm thinking after I get going I might hop in!
Just gave this a go and has been fun. I'm curious though as I have a tough time reading the quest boxes as they're too small with modern 4k monitors is there a mod that helps with these quest boxes. I can zoom in the camera for the NPC bubbles granted it would be nice to increase the size of those as well so I don't have to lean into my monitor so much. As a workk around I've got my display setting zoomed in at 250% just wondering what others are doing with larger monitors (Mine are 32")
When you say "Everquest2 is a product of its time", why do you feel that Everquest 1, in either private server capacity classic era like Project Quarm or Project 1999, or the live server TLP's have such a much better feel to them even though Everquest 1 is 5 years older? Is it just it was a flat out better game? Was it that EQ2 borrowed more from other games to make an amalgamation abomination rather than EQ1 which was purpose built from the ground up? Its just so bizarre to me, I feel the same way about EQ2. I play it and after a few hours I just feel like I should be playing a better game, and then go play WoW or EQ1. Just mostly looking for your opinions, and curious if our opinions sort of line up.
I don't feel that EQ1 is better than EQ2 at all. They are both EXTREMELY antiquated, and never had the budget to modernize in the same way as World of Warcraft, which is why WOW is so superior in terms of popularity.
I remember when they had the different starting areas around freeport .. still one of my fav MMOs...sadly I keep starting over and over :)

I picked up origins too, oh the memories I’m playing a dirge so mostly for me I’ll play to do group content really myself once a week thing
