    I just bought one of these and just having the philips head and the flathead screw drivers are enough for me to carry it. I tend to need screwdrivers a lot while at work and having these will definitely make things easier. All the other tools are extra to me.

    I just added the Gerber Bit Kit and Gerber Customfit Dual Sheath to my husband’s Truss and it makes it the perfect tool for him. He’s 6’5, in the military and we own a farm and it’s great for his edc. His other favorite combo is the Gerber Dual-force and Heritage Shears.

    I’ve had mine for over a year. I bought it for a field op in the desert. I will warn you like all other tools, once sand gets inside the moving parts, you’re gonna notice it. Also, the pouch provided doesn’t hold up over time. The Truss actually fits nicely inside of a molle pistol holster I had so that’s how it sits on my belt. I came to this video looking for a maintenance video so perhaps a recommendation for a future video? Nonetheless, a great multi tool that’ll last for years. Recommend

    • @RockyMountainBlades
      @RockyMountainBlades Před rokem

      For me, I think the best way for simple maintenance on any multitool is to just use a good lubricant like Knife Pivot Lube in all of the joints and work the action. It will feel a bit gritty for a little bit and then smooth out.

      @@hvacbudget8600 yeap. i have more fun using my gerbers than my leatherman. I love the classic suspension. Its smaller but yet heavier. My local seller was telling me that the material on gerber is inferior than leatherman. Seriously i don't really care about that since my surge scissor can't even cut a piece of thin transparent celotape while my victorinox and gerber scissors just cut with ease. When a tool failed a small insignificant task such as this, then something is really not right anymore. leatherman p4 scissor is also not so good. The worst part for some of my leatherman is plier head getting stuck while folding due to a tool not docked properly.

    I have to ask you a quick question I know only you would know I'm I'm building a small collection of the Gerber 600 so I'm trying to get them made in the USA they lock but I noticed when I opened more than one tool it unlocks the other tool is that normal think it is because when it's one tool open it's completely locked the only reason I'm asking because my other ones don't do it no matter how many tools I open they stay firmly locked I'm still happy with the tool though

    • @hvacbudget8600
      @hvacbudget8600  Před 2 lety +1

      Great question. The Gerber 600 and 400 and perhaps other Gerbers with that similar locking mechanism seem to unlock when a second tool is opened. If you look at the plastic thumb lock when you open a secondary tool it moves slightly up the handle unlocking the previously deployed tool. I believe it has something to do with the locking bar Gerber uses. I had never noticed that before. Leatherman used a spring metal tension on the original Leatherman Supertool which meant the only way to unlock a tool was to deploy another which pushed the lock out freeing up the first tool. I find those simple solutions fascinating.

    A piece of useless trivia… I already had the first Leatherman PST, and saw that Gerber was trying to compete by releasing their first multi tool called the Gerber Pocket Tool in 1991?… maybe?, it had sliding pliers locked into place by a spring loaded button on both sides. But, it had a couple of serious design flaws whereas, when the pliers were in use, there was no relief on the handles and the tool would close all the way and pinch the crap outa your hand. Plus, the awl was SO scary sharp and came to an Exacto/needle like point, that people were getting seriously injured (imagine that), I quit using it because of that pinch thing, but later saw that they redesigned it due to pinching issue and replaced that stupid sharp awl with a less scary awl, and offered a recall-ish style replacement to anyone that wanted to send back the original for a redesigned model. Heck, that just made me want to keep it more for the recall reason alone. I still have it, but have no want to be pinched, and if you looked at that awl wrong, you would bleed! 😆
