The ASUS Mini Gaming PC series (like the GR6 and the GR8) are really fantastically designed regarding the ability to be serviced while having a small footprint on your computer desk. Especially that you can detach WIFI on the hardware side and REALLY make sure it is not connected physically. However i really hate that the Fan cannot be easily removed because of the adhesive on the underside... but you have to completely remove the heatpipe. And all that because the fan case has no screws but has welded plastic notches that cannot be closed again after servicing....THAT is my biggest complaint on an otherwise wonderfully tidy designed piece of hardware. The GR6 board doesn't have this extra module like the GR8 but the GR6 uses the left side USB slot on the board for the WIFI hardware. When you wanna remove the board you ONLY have to remove the screws with the white triangle / arrow. Not the unmarked ones. Just make sure you carefully lift up the board so the plastic spikes, that grab the board at a few spots of the board, slip out so you can pull out the board from the case. Also instead of using motor oil you might rather wanna use isprop-alcohol and clean the hole of the driveshaft so the old grease gets removed, before you add new grease. You should use fine-mechanic oils that are free from acid and resins. Something that will not dry out shortly after but remains smooth and greasy for a while.
Just cut the plastic and tape it together
@@ItsBinhRepaired Yeah. Did that and it does the job really well.
@@KRAFTWERK2K6 yup :) dumb design
Thanks for the video! Its a lifesaver. The battery of cmos kaput and i get to replace it with your video guide.
Just checking if i want to keep the current hdd and add a new SSD and clone it to make it the os must it be placed as the (master) inside or it doesnt matter(drive beside the RAM).
There's no master/slave on SATA devices. You'll have to change the boot device in BIOS. I have a video on how to clone the drive in my general computer repairs playlist.
@@ItsBinhRepaired appreciate the prompt reply! Awesome!

If you watch 8:18 you can see another internal usb port on the left side that is emty. Is this usable ?
Should be
@@ItsBinhRepaired Opened mine. My wifi modul is on this internal usb port on the left side where yours is empty. Dont have this strange board where your wifi module is connected to. Have only one Board. Cleaned my Fan and will upgrade SSD do 256mb (now 128) and second Hdd i put 1tb in soon. My GR6 is now clean inside as new..

@@ugotaphonenumber if the power button is broken and you short the power button pins, yes lol if the cmos battery is dead it'll need to be replaced
@@ItsBinhRepaired ok thanks ill try replacing it xd
@@ugotaphonenumber hope it works
Do you have tpm2.0?
@@namojorchannal2115 I don't own the device. I wouldn't know.
I got an error usb device over current status" after reassembly. How to fix this? Thanks
Not sure. I've never gotten that error before. Recheck all the connections.
Help, I need fan replacement, is there other compatible fans for GR8?
Not sure. Check the fan model number and Google it.
The fan model number is KSB06105HB but sadly that doesn't really give you GR8 and GR6 fan unit replacements... but just a countless number of Laptop fan units that use this type of fan. Nothing that you can use to just swap out an old fan unit.
:(
Can i upgrade with any ram or does it need to be a specific one?
DDR 3 only not sure if it only supports 12800
This is the only way to fit 32gb RAM amzn.to/3IOd3z6
@@ItsBinhRepaired it doesnt support 32gb ram dude only 16gb

@@ItsBinhRepaired i dont need to try it,the board only supports 16gb,if you put 32gb in then the pc will only ever see 16gb! its simple motherboard 1o1

I wish you could change the GPU lol
The gaming gpus are bigger than the entire computer. LOL Not only that, but they use more power than the power brick uses for the entire computer as well. Hahaha
Can I change the CPU on this PC?
CPU looks soldered to the board
