Been watching for sometime now but decided to subscribe tonight. Retired diesel mechanic that worked on construction equipment for years. That means I have worked on all different makes and brands of engines and equipment. Never on anything like a bus. I didn't realize just how complex the suspension system on those things really is. I would imagine that work would be pretty expensive parts wise. Couldn't imagine parts for something like that would be Cheap. Really enjoy watching the work.
Another satisfied customer. Those steering components haven't been within a mile of a grease gun, EVER. Amazing it held up as well as it did for so long. I love those Eagles.
Tennesee should give you an award for helping all these people get their busses back on the road as much safer vehicles, with all the brake and suspension repairs that you have done lately. Love these videos!
Scott have you thought about filming (fixed camera under the bus) the worn out suspension on the test drive? To show how bad or worn out the parts or bearings needing to be replaced.
Man I miss riding those old eagle buses when my pops drove for trailways....could not wait to feel that front end float going up 1-5 north...love those old buses and really get a kick out of watching you work on all the classics now retired and converted, when they were the ones running up and down the road working when I was a young un'....you are a master at your skill my friend congrats on what you have achieved so far and may 2022 be good to you also....happy holidays and enjoy......

With those fibre gaskets with adhesive stickers on them. You need to send them back as "Not fit for use - due to unauthorised additions". Explain the defects caused and their effects. Also, send them an invoice for the return postage/freight - and ask for urgent redelivery "in exact manufactured condition". Tell them that if necessary they will need to deliver them personally to you (at their cost), due to the urgency they caused. Maybe this may cause them to "think" of the effects of slapping on stickers onto everything, instead of perhaps tieing on labels, or putting them in containers.

Lol That is really a very quiet bus, except for the dog. Are you sure he was excited to go for a ride or did he just have to go out to pee? Lol With the storms going across so frequently, I hope he beats them all home.
GREASE MONKEY HILL(patent should be applied for) test your turbo and driveline on the way up, and real world test your brakes on the way down. Good stuff as usual folks, keep 'em coming
The Eagle has the same engines you’ll find in the older buses, they sound the same. Unless you’re talking about the interior? Any bus can be quiet inside, it all depends on how it was converted.
U.K. As always well worth watching. My Elli (whippet lurcher) also 'talks' a lot, well she's a female (OOPS!) kept calling but no answer. I don't know what Americans call bad workmanship but oddy enough in the UK we call them 'cowboys' . What have cowboys done to deserve that ? It's nice to know that the US and UK have at least one thing in common CRAP GARAGE FITTERS. - r - soles. We used to have an oil called Castrol R, it was made from caster oil. Used a lot in boy racer's motorbikes because it smelled fantastic. Do try it in a GM - please, please.Maybe not.
Great job have some information you might want to get out a friend of U-tube Heavy D just showed his friend junk yard in Iowa I now it far but had quite a great Gm city buses with the double headlight with the chrome cover over or stainless steel the whole bus was figuring the siding windows dash parts suspension parts you could use And last I getting information on a stainless aluminum side polisher from airstream trailers no rubbing really cool also how are you and the Mrs any of that weird weather hit you I am in Michigan last 2week no power I glad I purchased a 6500 watt 4clyinder Kohler generator converted to natural gas and figure to take your or your son's generator or both to keep the power running
I would say, don't worry about the paper stickers on paper gaskets. If they were graphite impregnated or impregnated with any thing, yeah that would be a problem.

Guess that driver was a bit stage fright,, but his bus sounded good after your work i bet it wouldve ,, drivers piss poor responses, But loved the sound of the exhaust and turbo winding up, very nice sounds
Now with the new outside doors going in , your going to have to yellow strip the floor so nobody wipes out their mirrors when backing out of the shop, just a friendly suggestion 😃
Send back the gaskets and ask for some without stickers.. Keep doing so until the seller realizes that gaskets with stickers don't sell while gaskets without stickers do.
I ordered a gasket set from an un-named after market diesel supply company once. They'd heat shrink clear plastic over the gaskets on a square of card board. Ended up with two sets of half gaskets.
Parts companies should go back to putting gaskets in plastic bags. Putting stickers on each and every item is going too far. I see it as a company’s decision driven by bean counters, too scared they’ll lose out on a counted item. Just my opinion.
To get those stickers off those gaskets use ad hair blower on the hot setting. Best chance of getting those stickers off without damaging those gaskets. The hot air will software the glue mak8ng removal easier.
All those leaves from that sumbitch storm system? We caught a bit of the thing even up here in Ontario. Nothing like what folks encountered down your way but lots of power outages, downed limbs and shingles flung about.
Do you measure the inside diameter of the spindle bores after removing the old bushings for the king pins to check for out of round? We have had a few issues with that when I was working at a very large government fleet.
Gone are the days when such gaskets would be individually wrapped in greased brown paper, any stickers would have long fallen off, but the storeman (in his brown dust jacket) would have written the part number and price on the paper.
Did you return the gaskets? Are you able to use them with that amount of material removed? I would guess since you don't use RTV with that gasket you wouldn't want to use it.
Could you tell me the difference between Eagle buses and others (besides rust issues)? Were they nicer and more expensive? Reason I ask is most of the major country music stars of the 70s had Eagles.
I drove many miles carrying entertainers in Eagles. No bus rode better or was easier to sleep in than an Eagle. With no air bags, side to side lean was basically non-existent.
As a plumber I can certainly relate to the stickers being placed by morons. They put a barcode on every damn glue contact surface. A five minute job ends up taking fifteen minutes.
@BusGreaseMonkey Scott, when starting a Detroit D in the cold, do you let the bus fast idle to get the motor to temp, or apply extra-high RPM (foot on the throttle)? What is the correct answer?
The front and rear body styling on that Eagle looks different to any of the silver Eagles in Australia ! What year model is it ? The youngest one iv seen in Australia is a 1990 model
So much less driving stress on a big rig when the steering and suspension are all working right. Shop needs a steam cleaner for the greasy stuff and the shop floor
Do a brake check....Move all the loose object....now find all the loose objects :-) Have you ever had anyone complain that their brakes are too good after you've fixed them?
GREAT JOB, SCOTT. That Eagle needed the full front end rebuild! Amazing how many buses need so much work on bearings, seals and King pins.
Sticker removal hit them with a heat gun. Takes about 5 seconds they fall off.
this is vary true, i have sent them back my self a few times. as a vary thin paper gasket there is just no removing the sticky stuff.
Didn’t seem to appreciate all the work and how safe the bus is now.

A 2-stroke Eagle has always been my favorite exhaust note. And yet I spent most of my time in an MCI

Stickers I use petrol cigarette lighter fuel to let it soak then they peel off easy. Use brake clean to wipe any goo off.

Putting stickers on gaskets has become the normal procedure. Get a heat gun and warm up the stickers backing glue and then they peel right off

You get the stickers on everything from McMaster-Carr too, unless you ask for no stickers . . . They love to stick them on small fan blades.

That floor sweeper seems to work on the leaves and heavy dirt like the oil dry , how's it work with light weight dust / dirt ?

I'm still surprised you don't pressure wash the undercarriage and running gear before you start work on the bus.
I’m thinking he needs everything left like it is to find evidence in solving problems.
It always seems like Eagles get a bad rep but I disagree I think they just generally need more tlc but once they get it their great buses!
What is that air hissing sound on the test drive? Very autible going down the hill and the first minute or so after you pull out on paved road.
