Judas is an zombie band, they die and revive a lot of times and it's insane that they really started to be awesome as f with British Steel then got down with point of entry, got back with screaming vengeance, got down with turbo, got back again with painkiller, got down bad with juggulator, then got back yet again with Nostradamus and got really back with Firepower and Invincible Shield now on, it's just absurd they are that long on the metal industry

Play some amazingly iconic covers, and then there is some of the incredibly bad ones: point of entry, Ram It Down (and everything after it done by Mark Wilkinson. His covers are so terrible it's bizarre Judas priest seems to like them).

A lot of people dump on Point of Entry, and while it's not quite up to British Steel or Screaming for Vengeance standards, I still think it's a good album. Headed Out to the Highway seems like the song's protagonist has reached the point of utter nihilism, while Desert Plains evokes the image of a long night's ride to reunite with a long lost love. Don't Go, Turning Circles and On the Run are for me fun listens too. I think Metal Trenches guy is a bit hard on the album, but to each their own. We all choose our own favorites.

I've listened to Invinsible Shield twice so far in its entirity and I have heard the songs released early several more times. It's too new for me to rank, but I am loving it so far! It easily beats the last two albums. I'll have a better feel for where to place it after around 10 listens. Here is how I rank the other albums. I love stuff off even the lower ones, though I've never gotten into the Ripper albums.

Still BS, as the other nominations besides Priest were Suicidal Tendencies 'Lights Camera Revolution' album, Anthrax 'Persistence of Time' album and Megadeth 'Rust in Peace' album. It was overall complete bullshit that a cover song won out for best metal performance over 4 absolutely fantastic metal albums.

As was your remark about recent Maiden. I love the first six Maiden albums, but i feel they've been overrated as fuck since. It baffles me that Maiden is the bigger band worldwide. Priest has been here longer, has more well known 'hits'(or at least classic rock/metal staples), have at least as many albums considered classics.
JP may have a couple more flat out turds, maiden have less F's, but more boring chores. The Blaze and Ripper eras equally sucked.

I really enjoyed invincible shield front to back listening on a drive home today, then immediately went to bionic records in Buena Park and purchased the LP. I loved how they took all the different colors they’ve done over the years with synths, 2&4 driving rock, a bit of early speed sound, and an overall great range of dynamics from track to track. Giants in the sky left me feeling super reverent in a sense considering what the lyrics are about. Ritchie really has brought some fire to this band. All respect to KK, but I’d argue with the past 2.5 records Ritchie Faulkner has really cemented his colossus into this band’s legacy. And most importantly I’m very glad that Glenn was able to throw down his guitar work. Grateful that they are putting out such amazing music

I gotta say I'm mostly in agreement with these rankings! Although personally I'd move Sad Wings, Sin After Sin & Killing Machine up to great, move Screaming for Vengenance down to fantastic and Defenders down to great. Defenders is awesome up to a certain point but for me at least the album runs out of steam after Eat Me Alive. Painkiller is the only perfect Priest album in my opinion and it's generally just one of my favourite albums ever! I have to give Nostradamus a re-listen too. I haven't listened to that album all the way through in years but I seem to remember thinking it was a good idea/concept just poorly executed! I sometimes wish they explored that sound more after that album.

Sad wings of destiny and every work of art should be jugded in the context of their time. Imagine yourself being 16 in the 70's with no metallica, no maiden, no internet-spotify, and running into the masterpiece with the sad cover art ''Sad wings of destiny'' or ''Sin after Sin''. These albums were life-changers. Yes the albums ranked above them are ''better''(?) with better production and more years of experience and metal as a genre was established and defined by then, but these albums -along with others- shaped this genre. All in all I agree with your ranking but I would put albums like these in the S tier.
