I’ve tried King wrasse before and they are one of the best fish I’ve ever eaten. The meat is white and flaky and it’s not fishy at all. Def give it a try.

Do you see squid on the sounder at all? I have a little Garmin device its really helpful on Navigation, it shows fish but I never fully understood the fish curves (although have watched lots of youtube videos), last time showed some thick curves so I sent a camera down😅 they were really small (contrary to what those youtube tutorials say).
Any advise on kayak safety with regards to weather, wind and swell?

Hey champ absolutely nothing on the troll and didn't see any bait fish or arches worthy of a fish... so quiet but the squid where plenty full if needed a bag🦑🦑🦑I don't see anything that resembles squid in my sounder.
I look for arches and blobs on my sounder but usually mark structure and revisit certain times in the year to see what's actually hanging around 🐟🐟🐟
Weather wise obviously calmer the better but I've been out on blowy days just gotta see whatxlandmarks can buffer the wind for you alot of variables too, my yaks a PA14 so it's heavy but stable on the chop big weight rating aswell...just gotta be smart about things get used to your yak, nknow its limits and have your safety gear on hand

G'day champ West coast south there still there busso etc, little.schools along the beaches, moles some salmon have been landed and some Perth metro beaches. Boat wise I havent looked to see if there's big schools deeper brother. Just really so used to it with pretty much all the seafood caught, this wasn't alot of ice in there but I did a salt water slurry with it.😁🤙🦑
