Honestly bud, if I had the 8v I wouldn't bother upgrading, it's just not worth it and the 8v had been out for years so is much more reliable.
I just don't see the latest generation lasting as well.

Yeah you're absolutely right some problems are to be expected from a generation change 8v - 8y, however what is is strange is most of the issues nice experienced are generic, even the warning lights which seem related to the mmi system, this is one of the last cars to be fitted with it so I would have hoped the teething problems were worked out.
We'll be posting an update in a few weeks anyhow :)

Really interesting. I currently own a BMW 1 Series registered 09 2020 and it’s not bothered me with any issues. Updates operating system and maps easily. Much like my experience of owning three Audi A3s from 2009 to 2016. it’s a shame to hear about the electrical issues in the new model.
Looking at an A3 Sportback. Nice to know the problems and a good honest review. I’ve had two Seat Leon’s before and had similar problems to the A3 you have. I’ve also had two VW Golfs and my current GTD Estate has had nothing go wrong after 50,000 miles. Going to look at the Golf R-Line aswell. At least that has adaptive cruise control as standard.

@@adamhuws8714 Thanks bud, 30-32 without even trying as long as it is in efficiency. (With heated seats, heating etc all turned on)
I find using the speed limiter function helps increase the mpg as it holds you to 20mph which most of London now is

I purposefully kept this review genuine as I am not paid by Audi etc, so better to give potential owners a real life look at the car.
I do like the car and do not regret it, but it could have been a bit smoother journey for my first brand new car.

I believe there is now an update for the SOS warning light. However I've no longer got the car, ended up selling it due to the issues and customer service we received.
Great review, new sub here, was looking at purchasing A3 saloon.. Currently have mazda 3 Saloon and wanted something a bit more of eye catching like this but with a premium like audi you shouldn't be having teething issues, seems like these new modern cars have very cheap parts being installed.. I'll stear clear for the time being, also find cars that are black interior very chlostraphobic,.. Mine currently has a cream roof lining makes so much difference.

Sadly there are still electrical issues with the car, I'm on my second one which is a lot better!
But I would definitely check back before you consider pulling the trigger. There are work arounds that I've found but still no official fix from Audi 👍🏽

I'm coming from my 1.6 2016 manual A3 which has been a pure joy to have so I was reluctant in the first place to swap and been slightly regretting my decision

You have 30 days for a no quibble rejection, and up to 6 months for a long term rejection.
With the 6 month option you have to give them a chance to fix the car etc and they will take the mileage into account and can deduct some value from the refund.
To be honest the missing electric seats aside, the car is really nice other than the sporadic warning lights.
I've had every warning light under the sun so it's a bit difficult to know which one to take seriously. It seems this warning light issue is wide spread with no fix as of today.
If you see the comparison I did with the older A3, you'll see I mentioned a difference in build quality.
But saying all of this, please do not be put off, but rather be more aware of the issues so that you can quickly take action if your car has them too.

@@ea9167 I certainly did! I picked it up about 3 weeks ago and it's like comparing chalk and cheese! It's everything the first one should have been. The only issue I am having is sometimes the wireless android auto doesn't automatically reconnect when getting in car, and sometimes applying my user settings can be slow.

I’ve just taken delivery of a 2020 Audi A3 sport line with the Bang and Olson with the comfort to the sound pack I was a little bit miffed when I have the vehicle to find there are no mid range drivers in the front doors all the vocal come from the front windscreen speakers and it just seems a bit lacking with no mid range drivers in the front doors I happen to drive an A4 as a courtesy car with bang and Olson in it and that one had mid rang drivers in the doors but the A3 apparently doesn’t :-( something to be aware of?
Agreed, even though it's b&o it is lackluster compared to other models and even some older Audi cars!
The driver orientated cockpit, dashboard and Infotainment pretty solid comes from BMW who have this as a standard for many decades now.

You're absolutely right, BMW make some great interiors too, Saab also have some driver focused interiors. I mentioned the Supra specifically as it's my other car at the moment and is notorious for the interior.

I'm the owner of an 21019 S3 in Daytona Grey. I honestly love muy car and still has less than 3,500 km (2,174 miles). I'm really excited about the new model but still waiting until 2021 due I'm from México City.

Hi, about the electric seats disappointment - did you select the option for electric seat adjustment OR did you expect it to be standard? As far as the configurator for my market (Southern Africa) this is optional. Can’t your local dealer update the software to the May 2020 version?

In regards to the seats, in the UK if you buy an Edition1 it's supposed to be on there as standard. We've pushed Audi as a community and found out that the cars were fitted with manual seats by mistake and Audi have now had to compensate owners.
There's a few videos on my channel covering the issues :) - too much to summarise in one comment lol
As for the software update, no news as of yet from Audi
@@CRD90 You Only get electric seats in the diesel version. This is clear when you configure the car on the Audi Website.

Unfortunately Audi have admitted fault and actually removed the configuration for the 35TFSI due to my videos and have since updated the wording. They have admitted to mis-building cars with the wrong seats and are offering compensation to owners.

The only aspect that should be missing on the 35tfsi s-tronic is the memory function. Electric seats should have been present. The cars built roughly September - December all had the wrong seats placed in them.
It's fixed on cars going forwards by the way so in a few months time the amount without electric seats will be a much smaller proportion.

What problems in specific are you worried about? If the lack of electric seats this will be resolved going forwards so you should be okay.
How is it so far, after using your car for a year?
@@Techno.Belgium The best car I've owned so far, no problems at all. I didn't drive very often, so it's only 20 kkm of mileage. Will see in the future what happens. If I was picky, I would tell that S-Tronic is quite laggy, even in sport mode. Oh, and the wireless CarPlay is a disaster, I turned it off after a few tries. It's unstable, disconnects from time to time, doesn't connect automatically. But when I ordered the car, it wasn't even in specification. So if I didn't order it, I can't complain that it doesn't work well enough.

Did you add it as an optional extra? I think they may have included the stalk due to shortages rather than put the standard cruise control stalk in.

I had the warning lights thing too… fixed by audi now… was a bad battery which is now replaced… seems to be a more frequent issue it seems

Can you not update the software so you can utilise the wireless car play? And also I’m confused about the electric seats, did we come to the conclusion that the 35tfsi s-tronic just doesn’t come with them?
Apparently it's going to be released as an update in the future. I'm hopefully taking the car in next week so will try and get it installed then.

I've not currently got a golf lined up due to the covid restrictions etc. But I've gone into real depth over the a3 across my other videos.
From what I can make out so far, the a3 is a slightly more 'premium' form of the golf. I put it in inverted commas because the a3 actually misses a lot of the features that are standard on the golf lol.
On a personal level I feel the a3 has a nicer look and interior. I personally prefer the previous gen golf the 7.5
The new ones feel a bit too flat.

Are you using the UK website? If you select the edition 1 you cannot use the sline exterior.
Unfortunately in the UK the choices are rather limited and you have to pick what is available in each trim.
Once subscribed, have a look at my sline Vs edition1 video which will show you the differences between trim.

It's so strange, just had a look.
Even though it's an Edition1 you can't seem to select the black styling pack. They've made that only available on the sline trim for the Netherlands.
Also again strange that it's a different front bumper.
Is the sline spec worse for you? To me it looks close visually to my edition 1

Nice review! Just ordered the A3 and expect it to be deliverd in Januari. I have the Qi wireless charging pad in the front. Are you saying the car will have the Wireless Carplay functionality? because i can only find that it doesnt.

The wireless charging pad actually doesn't influence whether the car has wireless carplay. As your car will be coming in January I assume you will have the latest mmi software (may2020) and people have reported this enables the wireless carplay function.
So you should be good. Out of interest what spec did you go for and is it a UK car?

As this is our first car (private lease also) we ordered the most basic version of the A3, which in the Netherlands, is the Sportback Proline no extra options.

Hi,Do you know if you have remote car unlocking via the Audi app?
Hey buddy, I actually don't. My app is pretty limited to only telling me how much fuel I have in the car and a status on whether my windows are down, doors aren't locked etc.
I think if you use an iPhone you can unlock it, but I've tried two androids and the phone is not deemed "safe" enough
I expect the issues your experiencing are in part due to working conditions in and around Covid times and the fact that this is the new generation of the A3. Still annoying for sure, especially the warning messages. My 2018 A3 Sline has had a couple of minor issues but it was a facelift and final version before the big changes, but consequently it's 'went out of date' in just two years of me owning it. Agree with the indicator and cruise control stalks, they could be further apart to stop accidental turn off / on of either. On a close look at the chrome trim I was surprised how badly it lines up between the doors and the body, not great accuracy. Still like the car and people are always impressed when they sit inside it. It's minimalist clean lines and clutter free design give it an air of luxury for sure. The new interior is a bit more 'techno' than I'd like but hey I guess that's progress! If I renew then I'd go for the Edition 1, I'm sure. Saw your vid on the Sline, Edition 1 and Vorsprung and it was really useful, well worth a watch for A3 enthusiasts.

We've also just got the new Vorsprung model.
Well, took delivery of mine last Saturday and keep getting random anti theft alarm going off... 6x Saturday, 2x Sunday, 7x Thursday, 18x today. Also, the centre console tonight has decided to not boot up at all.
Yesterday I booked in for Tuesday to look at the alarm but I'm going to go up first thing tomorrow and pretty much chuck them keys and tell them to keep it until it's fixed.
Really really annoyed and disheartened because I was already hesitant getting it
That is shocking mate and I feel for you after having waited so long.
I honestly hoped they would have fixed the issues by now it's been 6 months since mine was built but still looks like cars are rolling out with issues.
Your one is not one I've come across with other owners yet, although the mmi playing up is a typical one which I doubt there is a suitable fix for.
Whatever you do put it in writing that you are rejecting the car unless they can fix it. When you're within the 30 day window it's a bit easier to reject it.

It's so frustrating because my last A3 (66 plate) was my first Audi built to spec, and I didn't have a single issue in those 4 years! I feel for any owner suffering from the issues they have
Not sure what I'd do if I rejected it...ask them for a new one but compensation somehow, or try ask for my old one back 🤷

Its sad to say but I'm almost into double digits in terms of knowing owners who have rejected the cars.
In terms of warning lights and mmi issues I've only come across on or two who have not experienced it at all.

@@CRD90 it's a massive shame people are having to reject them. I've probably got enough grounds to do myself now but trying to be nice. Hopefully they're working tirelessly to fix any software problems. Thankfully I've been lucky not to have any warning lights yet.
I managed to give it to them yesterday and I did mention about considering rejecting it. I'm trying to be nice though, just in case I do have to reject it it may help what happens next. My point of contact got the manager involved and he got the services manager involved, so hopefully things will get resolved next week. They also apologised and managed to sort a courtesy car out
One thing I do regret is not making a note of the software version before I gave it them - I won't know if they do update it now

Ive not managed to get hold of a Skoda Octavia to do a side by side comparison but from what I've seen they're pretty similar.
From a personal perspective I prefer the design of the Audi.
As for the A4, I think the current shape is slightly confused in that it is half and half. Half new generation but also has the older elements present too in the interior.
Where as the A3 is a complete break away and new styling all together.
@@CRD90 I was wondering if this has the same amount of space inside as the Octavia. I find the styling of the A4 S line better the new A3 but I'm not sure about what the exact differences the A3 and A4. Or if it's worth spending more on the Audi's over the Skoda.
@@ishkaranbrar313 its a hard one to say, I personally did not find that much size different in the A4 to warrant paying extra I'm sure if you can make our live stream next week there will be many other owners who could share their thoughts and opinions 👍🏽
11:01 Why are you surprised? You didn't slam the door hard enough. That's why it didn't close properly. It doesn't have softclose of course, so just pushing it shut won't work.
Not sure you understood the problem well enough. The same amount of pressure on any other door and this car (or other cars) closes just fine.
A bit weird that you have to close one specific door harder than any other.
Plus ironically I'm not the only one to have complained about this lol
Well after 3 months find that my mean problems are the program which it’s like spot the fault on MMI system back to Audi garage 4 times and 2 times call out nothing has changed still have the same problems and Audi said until Audi makes improvements they said they can do nothing .Under warranty so bye.I like the design but not the has problems even the radio cuts out when playing still what next.
Exact same reason we sold ours bud, stinking attitude from them on resolving the issues. Not what you want from a new car 🤦🏽♂️

Yeah I do think it's to do with the technology, this seems to be the main cause for the random warning lights etc.
The worrying thing however is that this isn't the first car Audi have tried the technology on, although the a3 is brand new the components used have been in the rest of the Audi range too

@@husy64shah66 I honestly still feel it's a great car and that nothing comes close in terms of styling both interior and exterior. The errors seem like it should be a software fix and I know at least of one person who has had the fixes applied and is having a better experience.
What cars have you shortlisted? I think more than the car itself. I would say be wary of not necessarily recieving premium support from a "premium brand".
Some real horror stories that come up
Well about this car went in for more programme faults and the dealer ship disconnected cam/car recorder front and back fitted Halfords they said this was breaking the warrant and was unsafe so contacted Halfords and they reconnected same,this is what I say what’s Audi all about fix the real problem of the MMI systems on your cars and this system from Halfords contacted Audi garage to ask what was the problem of safety. They said it was not put on car so makes it out with warranty.good job it was not an exhaust or tyres .
What a joke, the electrics are completely messed up on this car they're clutching at straws to blame it on Halfords.
What about every other owner of the car out there experiencing issues?!?!
This is precisely why we parted ways with the car and the company. Never met such a dishonest organisation before.

Hey Andy, honestly bud - I love the car and think it's great. I'd still buy it again. There's nothing else on the market the comes close from a styling perspective.
The frustrations are more with Audi and the poor quality control e.g. the door handle and the way they're handling this whole seat situation. (Taking forever to come out and tell us what's happening)
The warning lights I'll keep an eye on if it becomes constant I'll have to book it in.
@@CRD90 great video again, I agree with you on the warning lights but I also have a huge problem with the MMI, Audi connect UK talked me through some steps to fix the problem and now I've lost 3 or 4 tabs and it doesn't recognise my phone, I've told my dealership they can have the car back
One other slightly odd thing I’ve noticed which irritates me - the control rocker switches for the air con climate controls don’t seem to light up at night.. it’s like they forgot to put lights in them! Is yours the same? Do you think it’s on purpose or another small error?

Yes, very annoying that they are not illuminated, not easy to operate in the dark and to be honest I really would prefer a rotary switch for the fan, it would be easier to operate.

Had my A3 less than an hour when the MMI froze. Then in subsequent days had several warnings. So many that I refused to drive it and had it towed to the dealer. “Software Update” apparently fixed it... I’ll wait and see. Apple car play also flickers the screen on and off all the time when using it. Going back to the dealer again. Very tempted to reject the car.

@@CRD90 of course I have subscribed, interested to see how you get on with yours. They had the car 5 days and it had 3 pages of warnings that they cleared and updated the software. Apparently that fixes it!? On the drive home I got “low visibility warning” on a clear day; then “brake assist limited”. Told it’s due to dirt etc despite the fact they cleaned the car. Really disheartened tbh.
Hey Craig, the limited visibility is completely normal and should only happen in rain etc it's strange at first but it's telling you the outside is limited view... Like our eyes weren't on the road already :)
