- Climbing the highest peak in the Adirondacks during a winter storm - Three times height of the World Trade Center - & I'm afraid of heights.
Why did I start hiking? To put it quite simply, whenever a voice inside me says I can't do something - I have to try it.
This was my second attempt climbing Mount Marcy - the highest point in New York, with an elevation of 5,344 feet. My first failed attempt was solo in Nov of 2021, when conditions were too severe. www.newyorkups...
We climbed the third weekend of March 2022. Snow accumulated to depths that had us walking amongst tree tops. Upon reaching the first of three false summits, a storm arrived with 50+ mph winds. This hike pushed me past limits that now feel like new. No hike goes as planned, but with each experience I gain a profound appreciation for life and the moment. I did the same type of trip last fall; hiked with our tents but stayed at the newish Lean-too there! The view was amazing.

This video was so cool! To hike and get to the top must feel surreal. The accomplishment must be euphoric and at the top you must’ve felt like you were in another world !
