Nice Review. I have had mine for going on 6 years now and it continues to amaze me with what it can do for the money spent. I consistently steer folks looking at the bottom end Polk PSW10 to this subwoofer as the price difference (even with the Polk on sale) is pretty marginal when you take a look at what you get for the money.
Thank you for the review! I've been looking at the sub1500 and this is pretty close to it, wanted to see how their (dayton audio) sub lineup performed in general. Looking for a budget-ish subwoofer for a 5.2 setup im planning on building and don't plan on cranking my stuff up much at aall, just want to be able to get those real low frequencies I don't get with my current sony 5.1 system with 7 inch subwoofer.
I'm not totally sure you are correct. If you use the (low level) RCA inputs, then NO the subwoofer does not send any output to full range speakers. If you use the (High Level) inputs, then the subwoofer plays the low end as to whatever you have the frequency "tuned" at. The (cut off) to the satilight Speakers comes out through the speaker wire terminals from the plate amp. That saves your speakers from playing extremely low frequencies. Allowing your entire system to play louder and actually sound better than just using the RCA inputs. Depends on if your using it for movies or to listen to a 2.1 system designed for music playback ONLY. This is exactly why I have 2 separate audio systems in my house. One system for movies with it's own subwoofer and a separate system for music. I use a Yamaha amp, a vintage ADC equalizer Spectrum analyzer, amp is 100 watts (RMS) sustained per channel, speakers are JBL Studio 530s, channel B is the Jamo C93 11, second generation, and for the subwoofer, I have an SVS SB 1,000. In my opinion, this particular system I have is about the best a person can get, (for the money)!!!! I also run everything through a Panamax line conditioner/surge suppressor. I use a Fluance R-82 LP player and an Onkyo hi-res CD player. All stand alone. No computer music which I dont like. !!!!!!!!!!!!! For Christmas I'm going to upgrade to 2 Crown Amps rated at around 600 watts RMS, SUSTAINED, Bridged per channel. All that CLEAN POWER will make for a totally different and exciting system. I'm also gonna be getting the Jamo C-103s, 2and. Generation in the Apple Wood Finish !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally a good video showing this sub, thank you.
I have the 10" in my wood shop. My port kept falling out so I added a couple screws. For the price its a great set up.
sweet review. I felt little dizzy with the LR mic

The Dayton is a very good budget choice to add a little rumble. It won't rattle your windows like a $500 SVS, but it also is wayyy cheaper.
If you just watch regular movies with acceptable loudness when watching movies this set is good.
Reminds me of the design that Velodyne used in their EQ Max series. Hmm, interesting.

This subwoofer does not have a low pass filter. When using high level inputs it still sends back out full range signal to your speakers.
If that was my subwoofer I would remove the foam and put on tall boy rubber surround for a better look to the sub
Dayton subs use rubber surrounds
