- We saw this car last year at Cootamundra and though it was one of our favorites, it didn’t run very consistently. After a few change ups, IT’S BACK! This thing was not only way faster, it was extremely consistent! It broke the Cootamundra record for fastest 4 cylinder, won the RWD drag battle, AND the overall drag battle! What an insane car! What do you guys think?

@@mihailpetrovici5044 Truthfully if it was prepped that would have prevented most of the 60ft from being useable. The slip is actually a benefit on these cars...wheelie prone for sure with the weight where it is.

In terms of regular usage not very reliable. Without major upgrades. Being midengine it has issues with over heating. Reliable for short trips but long hauls no, no, no. In terms of longevity oh yeah, mine is 35 years old this year.

Loren husky, the 97-04 civic type r's were 185-225hp off the lot and revved to 9k rpm. Every car brand has a sports version of there regular affordable street cars
And the s2000 was 250hp off the lot. And the 97-00 Integra type r was a 9k rpm revving 200hp 4 banger. Prelude was a 217hp 4 banger. Your thinking of a economy civic dx with 90hp which is Honda's affordable gas saver, and for some reason when someone brings up the word honda thats the car people think of which sucks. Vtec engines are really not that bad
That thing is properly built. Gets off the line with no drama and smooth all the way through the 1/4. Props to BYP on building it and setting it up perfectly.

Of all the possible rwd swapped cars I'd have to say this mr2 is the best choice for going A-B really freaking fast.
I had a 91 MR2 in 1995 which I had modded to about 300hp and that thing was so fun to drive. I wish I never got rid of it, but it is nice to see this car with about triple the HP I had. That is sick!

During the beginning of the video, that white Hyundai van is RWD and can be had with a manual transmission. We used them when deployed in the middle east to get around base, 10/10 can do burnouts and drift (on oil slicked or dusty asphalt, that is).

This shows you that simple and "cheap" (compared to others...) is not always a bad thing. Using the time to make the car work properly instead of modifying it all the time seems to be the key.

Who'd have ever thought that an Accord engine, that comes factory with an "Earth Dreams" badge on the vc, would be making 900+ hp and doing 8sec RWD passes on asphalt!?

I'm building two k swapped Fiero GT's. I have said repeatedly that the k series will become the new king of engine swaps (current is 3800sc) and a sequential gearbox would be a game changer. Hopefully one day a quafie 6 speed sequential gearbox will find itself bolted to my turbocharged k24 fiero!

They have kits to put lsx motors in them as well - Archie has been building Fiero swaps for about 25 years.
Fiero weighs roughly the same as the stock MR2 - so it might be just as quick - and 10 times as embarrassing when it walks you 😂 i still think the mr2 would be better, even though i really want to see a fast Fiero.
@Zachary Trent the reason there is no aftermarket is because you can interchange parts for a ecotec turbo i4, 3800sc V6 or LS4 V8 with tons of info in the forums.
I own a 3800sc fiero and it's a blast, planning to turbo the Buick V6 and make it a GN motor basically.
BV Motorsports already has built a turbo k24 fiero.

I'm not a big fan of imports, BUT, you've got to give these guys props for the amount of tweaking that goes into these little time bombs.
HP per C.I gives us Big Block engine builders something to rise too
They are literally little time bombs, you don't know when they're going to blow, but you just hope it's at the end of the day. I think the issue is that you big muscle guy don't put as much time into it as guys like this do. I've seen some 6 second cars, and that is basically the equivalent of what these guys do. But that's a lot of testing and tweaking. If you're cars were as light as ours, you could probably shave off another second. I love my little MR2, but my buddy has a 427 cobra in his old F100, and that thing is mean as fuck. One of the greatest sounds i've ever heard.

This k series mr2 is 400-500lbs lighter than a 3s mr2 and has a sequential trans....the current 3sgte record holder mr2 is stick shift and is only .1 of a second slower. K series is a great motor no doubt, but like b series still holds the world record in fwd trim, why isnt k series faster even in awd hondas?
@@InNoTime3377 it's. 1 sec faster on a shitty track with horrible traction where even AWD cars struggle for traction. As a result they would have to turn this down a lot just so it can get off the line cleanly and then make up for it by adding a shit ton off power up top. So the fact is this car will shit all over the 3sgte on a prepped track my assumption of low 8s was wrong this MR 2 would run mid to high 7s once the 60' time comes down and they can turn the power up.

The MR2 being a mid-engine...it’s not a typical RWD.

It's a FWD layout, from the back. This is not your ordinary RWD car. It is set up like a fwd system, except everything is in the back, instead of the front. It is the most fun car i have ever had. I'm not making nor will i ever make 900hp from mine, but even at base power, it is still an amazingly fun car to drive.
