This made me lol while I’m sitting in the stall in a bathroom haha 😂 I don’t know why this doesn’t have a million likes. Guess it’s just our dads that are……
Been doing it for 30 years. Always by hand. Now that I'm 52 wrist and elbows are starting to get sore. I'm seriously considering buying some boxes especially for ceilings. I hate stilts lol
Same here. Hand taping everything, knife and trowel, for 25 yrs. Hands, shoulders and elbows are getting pretty wasted! I just started using the inside corner tools. Pretty nice considering they coat both sides of the angle at once. Looks good, too. Now I’m thinking about the flat boxes. I wish the pumps were cheaper, though! Good luck with everything.
Appreciate your videos thanks👍 but can't the sparkys be considerate for us and cut their boxes and lights after we've flush and sanded 🤔 open to hear a ginuwine answer
I have some kind of experience in drywall but I never watched the kind of tools you carrry they look amazing and it must be nice to work with them specially the handle yep that short handle I like it thank you for sharing buddy
dude i feel like a pro already and knowing me i learn alot more if i see them doing the job than them telling me doing like this without knowing how the hell hold the tool
2:54 you pull off with the brake and you lift your left leg off the ground. Definitely played hockey, you probably had a decent shot too! Lol. Love the informative videos man, keep ‘em comin👍
Yo you explain this very well like on 2:18 very good explanation I’m barley starting an I don’t know the basics like the lat Marks thank u drywallnation
I've used boxes on jobs before that were owned by the company I was working for. I recently bought a set of level 5 boxes. I noticed 1 thing right away. The level 5 boxes are not power assist. How big of a deal is not having the power assist on the box? To me on the tape tech boxes that power assist was a pain in the ass to release before filling the box again.
I just did a garage with 9' ceilings with that short extention handle. Had to get up on a Scaffold to get the pressure to get out the first load Coat. Obviously a longer pole would be ideal, but I'm curious if you remove the springs will it run easier to apply pressure or does it mess up the working of the Boxes?
Hey Drywall nation. Those look like recessed metal electrical boxes. How does one finish around the box once the plaster ring is installed? Especially, I have situations where I use a 2 gang box and only need a 1 gang plaster ring. How does one finish those off? I haven't seen any vids on CZcams for this ne
Did you ever get your answer? Those are aren’t J-Boxes he is working with those are single and double gang plastic boxes that are just recessed. Plaster rings should always go one before drywall finish. If not we always did a hot mix or straight plaster around the mud ring and then finished with compound 2nd coat.
Hi I have a question do you have to fil the joint before Passing two coats of the flat box? or can you roll it after having stuck the paper with the bandjo?
First tape the joints properly and allow time to dry. Then fill coat joints wih the smaller of two boxes (whether 7",8", 10," or 12" and even 14") when the first coat, properly administered, is dry second coat with a slightly larger box to bury the edge from the first box. Rolling is done on angle tape when using a mechanical angle head or flusher to wipe the angle tape. So, no you dont have to coat the joints with a box first to roll the angle tape.
@@endoalley680 sorry I'm French I think I didn't explain my self correctly. When you stick your joint with a bandjo it doesn't fil the edges, do you have to fil it with mud before or can you directly apply 2 coats with boxes to finish the joint? Thx again
@@darkseta34 Sorry for misunderstanding. Two things. First, you can open up the mud flow on the banjo by loosening the thumb screws and pushing the blade in. This will put more mud behind the tape and allow you to easily fill the factory recess on the sheetrock when you tape. The downside is that the banjo runs out of mud very quickly with this setup. Another thing that I prefer is to allow just enough mud out of the banjo that you can run an angle head over the angles without a lot of excess mud spilling out. Instead, you use a sharp drywall knife to cut out broken bits of sheetrock before taping. And V the butt joints. You then prefill all joints with thick mud. That way you can tape with a banjo that is less than wide open, and still have a great fill on your factory edges. Because we always want our work to look pretty, at all phases of completion!
@@darkseta34 I start with a 7 inch box to mostly fill the recess. Then 10...12. Many guys seem to skip the 7" and fill and first coat with the 10". I do mostly commercial work and our walls are not textured so I prefer to do it in 3 and have a smoother wall.
You’re a lot nicer at explaining then my dad is
🤣 👌

The leg lift at 2:55 was marvelous
Gotta get that bolling spin leg kick around motion 😝 at the end of the run
Oo
I like to fill my electrical boxes from both directions so it gets good and full

Let us know if you have any questions!
Do u run the flat box twice for two coats. With different size boxes

I run right over the plugs makes for way less touching up with a trowel.
Just cut them out at the end and clean them out when it's all dry
Little leg kick at 2:50 made this whole video for me
must be a bowler!
It’s just relaxing watching this!!!
Great video...I eliminate bubbles by mixing liquid dish soap in my mud with water....never have issues.
Great tip!
Are you serious? How much are you putting in?
@@gray09r56 about a 1/4 cup per box / bucket . I use dawn
When you mixing up your mud compound try back spinning it in reverse on your drill... doing so pulls most of the air pockets out of the mud.
Oh my god you know I’m going right over those plugs… damn electricians leaving they’re stripped wire all over
You're A1 my friend thanks for explaining and demonstrating EXCELLENT craftsmanship !!!!!!

Where can you buy butt board. I been say someone should make something like that for years. Always made sense to me

Man.. great informative video!
Thank you! We're always glad to help out the finisher community in any way we can.
how do you eliminate the sides I've setu depth on the blad but still come across heavy sides
Thanks for a great tutorial / tips video ! I’m looking at getting a 8inch and 12inch .
Get the quick box by tapetech its way better than level 5 trust
Id say columbia or northstar but im biased, would also suggest a 10 and 12 instead of 8
A little hitchhiker, yeah right. But what do you call them when you are not on camera???
I still don’t get how he gets such long runs. I tend to only getabout 1/2 the distance he gets. Mud thickness maybe?
Yes, the setting on the flat box makes a difference on how long of runs you can get. Changes how much mud is applied to the joint.
Mixing your mud and the settings on your box but this is nonsense i hate video like this sorry no offence!
Is there a different way of doing this on butt joints if you do not use butt boards?
Hi what’s wheels on box they don’t look standard ones
What size box are you using in the video?
You donde use the box the right way
Can I use a flatbox followed a skimming blade to skim coat a whole wall?
No, because you will leave wheel marks on a finished skimmed wall.
What’s triggered of left hand?
Nice tool. Sorta wish they weren't so expensive for diy they're a little out of reach.

Off course fuck those spring
Nice
What do u mean butt board? I'm in orange county ca. Cause of earthquake there's a more strick building code. Can I use that out here when hanging ?

As you run tape fill the bevel as you wipe

👏👏👏👏👏
These videos suck. I've watched them about thirty times and have no idea how to run my box
