I think Apple needs to create more steps and require 4 devices 2 plugged into power, and 2 not plugged into power. You did a great job explaining the process, but it’s a bit cumbersome and most of us just won’t take the time to do this process.
Mostly intended for Apple Support themselves, and this 'self servicing' is probably just for repair shops, it is less aimed as a true self servicing method.

The support webpage isn’t available in the UK, and as others have stated it appears that it only works in the US. I suggest your video title is amended to reflect this because otherwise it’s just click bait.
On the first device go to settings , privacy and security , scroll all the way down and press analytics and improvements , on the second device (doesnt matter if its ios android or windows) go to the site , type the serial number of the 1st device , after some seconds you'll see a new option on the 1st device with blue letters "start diagnostic session" and you are ready to run any available diagnostic , camera diagnostics wont work when the 1st device is in diagnostic mode , the device needs to be in iOS for the camera to work , hope that helps!
Unfortunately your information is incorrect. This diagnostics suite requires the device to be in diagnostics mode. The above mentioned steps would only work if diagnostics were launched by apple support, or technicians in an Apple Store. As for camera image quality, the diagnostics suite will work in diagnostics mode as the diagnostics mode boot gives permission to access the camera as when technicians are done with a camera repair in store, they are not allowed to go into the customers phone through iOS to launch diagnostics. So without it being able to work in diagnostics mode thy wouldn’t be able to test if th camera repair was successful. All of this can be verified by just trying it yourself on your personal device.
13 is great (just bought one in August 2023), don’t waste your money on plus, pro or pro max…useless features..unless your Andrew or do a job like his.

I was an Apple Store technician for 9 years. That audio test brought back PTSD 😂 old store I was in had such a small repair room, I had to always cover my ears during that damn test. It was so loud.
Zollotech, I did a self diagnostics on my grandmas iPhone 15 Pro that's been having issues with the display not turning on but still functioning as if it was on, it was running iOS 17.2.1 I believe and the self diagnostics worked and her phone is having a Anomaly display issue unfortunately so I scheduled an appointment at my local Apple Store, I tried to run a diagnostics on a iPhone 11 Pro Max running IOS 17.2.1 that is having an issue with all three cameras. When I enter diagnostic mode and typed in the serial number it said it was invalid or the device wasn't eligible for self diagnostics. Do you know why this is possibly happening or does the phone just need to be up-to-date? Thanks!!

Super useful! Thank you! I've felt that on my iPhone 13 Pro Max, the camera quality has degraded ever since upgrading to iOS 16 (now on 17.3). But the camera diagnostics check out fine - assuming they're not leaving it up to human perception to determine if it is bad simply by highlighting an area in a photo.
Would’ve liked to see Apple include a QR code at the test screen to get the second phone logged in from the Support page. QR code for the serial number would’ve been a handy tool as well. I don’t have a second phone right now, but does it test all the pins on the Lightning or USB-C plug for data transfer as well as charging? 7:36

i’ve changed 3x iphones 15 pro max all have some sort of audio crackilng at max volume in Spotify and CZcams but whats also more annoying its the ios 17 that has loads of pre caching shader compilation lags even in easy task games like temple run and subway surfer I am waiting for a fix

They should make it easy like samsung. You have just to dial codes and you can run test with samsung. I love apple, i use apple , i work on phones but alot of things is to difficult with apple especially for a man like me living in a small Caribbean country

This is also really handy or selling or buying used devices. Is there any drawback to this? I'm thinking along the lines of limited number of uses, potential data loss from any of the tests, or the tests putting strain/wear on physical components?
I mean.. going to the Apple store and getting a diagnostic was free to begin I'm pretty sure? (you pay for the repair) This is more just the convenience of doing it at home when you want

As always excellent content! Was unable to get the link to work for the Apple Diagnostics for Self Service Repair. It takes me to the Apple support App. Was able to connect after manually entering the address.
Question: how can I enter self diagnostics mode when my lightning connector isn’t working anymore? Does a magsafe charger also work? Or does it have to be the physical bottom connector? Cause that’s stuck at mine, it only charges via magsafe
Hello Aaron! Today(Jan 17th) I noticed a major decline in my iPhone 15 Pro Max's battery performance and heat management and screen dimming. Running iOS 17.2.1. When doing a normal task its heating up a lot and draining super fast. I watched an 8 minute CZcams video and it drained almost 15 percent and the screen dimmed halfway through dramatically and auto brightness is turned off as well. Theres nothing running heavily in the background either.
This is awesome to see the same tools I used when I worked at Apple, now for ANYONE to use. 🎉

@@cbastien92 You can actually film in 1080p RAW on the iPhone 13 Pro 128 GB version. However to film in 4K RAW you need the 256 GB version.

Very interesting that aasp’s need a special dock for the audio test but nothing is required in this suite of tests.

Interesting, as an independent repair tech who can access apples internal diagnostics this suite is much more limited however is useful
One question, do I have to use a second iPhone to login to the test or can I use an iPad or my Macbook Pro M1?
Typically you can use another device such as an iPad as well. It’s basically just using a website to connect.
Great video, only downside that you need to be in the united states for this to work (or use an VPN)

Why this feature isn’t available for India?
Fat lot of use this is if its only available in the U.S and not any other region. Doesn’t work in UK or other countries
