If you watched this as a kid like i did, we lived the wonder years, we played outside all day and roamed free with little supervision and enjoyed extended childhoods. That sounds like Claude Kirchner at the ending. To all of you who watched this when it was new,and share the memories,i wish you happiness and good health.

The last time this was probably shown on TV was 1962, so all of who watched it in those years are seeing the first time in 47 years, a feeling that transports you back in time with residual memories as an after effect, like finding an old toy in the attic from when you were 5 years old.

Very true. The Casper stories resonated with children. The idea of this little ghost wanting to make a friend would pull at the heart-strings of kids. We were the generation who would deal issues of social acceptance.

I have a MATTEL JACK IN THE BOX,it has Matty on the top. 1959 still plays and the clown pops out, POP goes the weasle song. I watched this when i was 7 , and feel 7 watching it again, its great , i mean its swell! These intros bring back more memories than the actual cartoons do. For some reason cartoons from the 1960's always stayed in my head all these years. You cant beat that feeling of seeing something you havent seen for 47 years!

Of all the Harvey characters ,Casper was the only one that made it big time, every kid in 2009 knows who he is. That makes me feel good. My favorite was Hot Stuff the little devil , he mever made it into the tv cartoons. But i have a big collection of his comic books from the 1950's and 1960's. SWEET MEMORIES

MATTY'S FUNDAY FUNNIES first ran on Friday evenings at 7:30 on ABC, sponsored by Mattel. It was such a successful show with the CASPER cartoons being the most popular that ABC commissioned a new CASPER SHOW in 1962.
MATTY'F FUNDAY FUNNIES moved to Sunday afternoons in 1960 after the Friday evening primetime run.

In 1959, Harvey Publications, which issued comic books of Paramount/Famous Studios' cartoon stars, bought their 1950-'59 cartoon library [and the rights to "Casper", "Little Audrey", etc., in perpetuity], rechristening them "Harveytoons" for TV. The show aired at 5pm(et) on late Sunday afternoons, with a Friday night edition [7:30pm(et)] added for the 1960-'61 season...in 1962, the "package" became "CASPER THE FRIENDLY GHOST AND COMPANY" in syndication {with new opening/closing titles).

And just as Paramount Cartoon Studios created the Harvey Jack-in-the-Box opening for the cartoons replacing their original Noveltoon Jack, they also produced this animated opening and closing, as well as the bridging sequences and some of the commercials.

That's veteran actor/announcer Marvin Miller (who was just finishing his tenure as "Michael Anthony" on "THE MILLIONAIRE" at the time) as the show's announcer. Claude Kirchner was under contract as "the voice of Marx Toys", 'kid' {also hosting "MARX'S MAGIC MIDWAY" on NBC's 1962-'63 Saturday morning schedule}.

@bukster1 Billy Mumy was not the voice here. That was Cecil Roy---a woman.
Billy Mumy was MATTY MATTEL for the BEANY AND CECIL "Matty's Funnies" in 1962,

I was just reading Bill Mumy's biography. He was the voice of Matty Mattel in this. Later he went on to be Will Robinson in Lost in Space and Lenier in Babylon 5

Why does Casper have to be Wednesday? I'm not a fan of Wednesday!
