- The Manx Grand Prix on the Isle of Man may look more relaxed than the Isle of Man TT Races from the outside, but the amount of work that goes into keeping the classic bikes in race spec takes a lot of hours of old-school mechanics. There is no data on these to fall back on, just an understanding of the bikes and head-scratching ;-)
Race day, forty minutes before my race, I finally got a moment to introduce you to my CSC-developed Yamaha TX500.
Next, I have an exclusive video I filmed onboard the TX from practice during the week, @manxgrandprix2722 so stay tuned for that!

Back in the day, I sometimes rode a TX500 to the Yamaha shop I worked at, it would rev to the moon and only got smoother the higher you revved it, and it never stopped, so much better than the 750's of the day.
Happy Xmas James just unwrapped a signed pix n your Dakar book.thanks so much
Cool love the video
Great vid n with n electrics. Go there james
I thought I missed a revival or reintro of the TX model prefix…..but you are racing an original TX. Cool! They weren’t great back in the day but at least didn’t crack heads like the 750. Hope not was reliable and you had a good result.
Enjoyed that James Thank you
Very welcome
Hi James nice to see your spanner man Dale in the background, hands in pockets as usual lol 😂
😁
Would have loved to hear it fired up but great insight from Mr Nice anyway. Cheers 🍻
I've actually got an onboard lap coming soon! So hope that makes up for it!
Nothing but ultimate respect and loving the natural solar heat tyre warmers ✊🏍💨
You know it!
Great info.
Thanks for watching!
0:48 Attention Paddock 😂
No mention of those “ big feet “ for a change 😂
Well, I thought they were quite obvious when I sat on the bike 😆
cool vid
Thanks
JAMES, you created an excellent breakdown of the bike and its capabilities. My cousin Sam bought one of those TX 500s right off the showroom floor and he ran the poo out of it. I bought a TX 750 and I ran it for about 10 or 12,000 miles until the engine grenade it as it turns out the TX 750s or a third but the 500s seem to do quite well. I don’t know what he ever did with that bike. I think he traded it on a Harley. Best of luck to you my friend.
I think he has become the rider I most like listening to due to the indepth breakdowns and clarity
Thank you
@@Andrew-ud3xl Thank you
It’s a day late lol @amanda
A TX 500? - good god - BITD I had one and it shat itself a few daze after i bought it - a mate had the TX 750 and it did the same - they were horrible bikes, we hated them!
But is she fun to ride, James?
Good fun yes but very noisy after 3 laps!
@@jameshillierracing I can flippin well imagine!😀 Looking forward to listening to the ramblings of this weeks Motorbike Pod.
I would love to know what has been done to these engines, to make them go so well.
As back in the 70,s these engines were total Shite!
Cool love the video
