I vaguely remember Selina and Stephen’s reunion and after watching this I realise how vague a memory it was as I do not remember them being in England 😂 Culture shock for the Aussies 😂
i think it be good if selina and steven made a return to home and away in 2023 and was played by the OG character's also people's jaw's would drop that they return with there children to the bay and the story line be to help the kid's with there problem it would fit the show nicely

Lol true for me too. It got too boring for me from then on so I stopped watching and haven't dipped back in since. Hard to believe that's a longer time frame between then and now than there time frame between the shows launch to 2001!

I began to find it not as good when The Sutherlands arrived and the writing seemed to get dumbed down around 2001. I hung in for a few more years but eventually gave up in 2010
I'll always say if Tom remained the show would have been good for a LOT longer. Alf (though he's even still there now in 2022!!!) helped but Tom I believe was a core. Michael was a good actor (and perhaps if Dennis just replaced Tom instead of being Michael it would have been fine) but in my opinion he just didn't fit into Tom's "shoes" so to speak. If Tom was the one who drowned in 1996 it would have been FAAR more dramatic. For one Steven would have had faaar more emotion (obviously since he never really knew Michael) amongst a few others
@@vnlpat001 In terms of what we saw on screen in early 91-mid 95, Michael and Steven's relationship didn't receive known development, but Michael was in Steven's life nearly twice as long as Tom was and we assume that Steven came home from uni for holidays or Pippa, Michael, Sally, etc. went to visit him and take some meatloaf, although we didn't see it. When Steven was charged with Dodge's "murder", Michael was the one who sorted out bail. Although the drinks were mostly in Shane's honour for Angel being pregnant, Steven was involved when Michael and Alf took them out for celebratory drinks. Even if it was less "foster father and son" because Steven was just turning 18 and going away to uni as Pippa and Michael got together, they were probably friends though. As much as I believe that Steven needed Tom when he was going through his HSC and the stuff with Jennifer, I believe that he would have needed Michael (or maybe more Tom seeing as Michael didn't really have a great track record with this kind of thing, e.g. Sophie and David, Finn and Randy) when everything blew up over his affair with Selina's. By that time, Michael is dead, Shane is dead, he's lost the respect and friendship with Don, and later on in 1996 before he packs up and leaves, there are also issues between him and both Travis and Jesse. I've never really bought a relationship between Steven and Alf, but I think Michael is another loss of a male friend or father figure when he needed it more than ever.
