Fortuner and Revo 2.8 both have 1GD engines. Unfortunately, Toyota Indus pours in 20w50 from factory and afterwards. Owner’s manual recommends 5w30 API CF, as these newer diesel engines have tighter tolerances as compared to older diesel engines.

Hi there,
I am Malik Farhan. I purchased Prince Pearl in February 2021 from Prince Mir Motors, Johar Town, Lahore.
From day one I am facing some issues in the car and nobody is assisting me to solve it. I visited their service center but have not got any issue resolved. It's been about 7 Months passed but the issues still exist.
Here is the list of issues that I am facing but have not got resolved yet.
1. Gear is not working properly, you can imagine it's a brand new car and it's gear like a roughly driven 20 years old car.
2. Rear shocks are so noisy. This issue comes in the second month after purchase, I thought this noise was coming from somewhere else but their mechanic said its rear shocks breakdown. Still not resolved.
3. Wheel bearings breakdown and the car's sound is gone like a down model 1998 HiAce. Still not resolved.
4. The Ride of the car is very bumpy.
5. An unknown noise is always coming from the dashboard and it's very annoying.
6. AC is not working well, I think AC for this car is made for "Early winter season" it's not for "Pakistan's Summer Season".
I bought this car just because they are new to the market and we should help them to grow here, because big 3 auto tycoons are playing a bad role in our auto sector. But now I realized I made a big mistake buying this pathetic car.
Their service is very bad, I applied for a claim on August 7, 2021 but they filed it on 17 August, 2021 (How unprofessional it is). One month has passed but I still haven't got the things done. It's about replacement of rear shocks, wheel bearings, gear issue and dashboard noise.
They don't have any spare parts in their service center.
2 times a week I am visiting their service center but they always give me lame excuses.
I request to everyone who is thinking of buying this car, please don't buy their car, it's just a waste of money and time.

Engine oil doesn't have any link with mileage. My Vitz 2018 is driven more then 1 lakh kilometer and I am using 0W-20. Use recommended oil, if recommended oil grade for your car is 5W-30 then use that don't shift.

Deisel engines have a problem of cold start if temprature drops ( below -16°C deisel freezes ) petrol freezing point -60°C which is not possible in Pakistan) you didn't mention grade for deisel engines ?
Diesel engines uses thick oil and diesel engine have heater in it which turns on before starting it makes starting easier for diesel engines.

My xli 11 is 100k driven I am using 0W 30 zic engine oil since long. It gives good fuel avg i - e 16 kml and apparently there is no problem while using it but some of my friends are suggesting to shift to 10W 40 grade.

No please don't shift it will ruin your car engine XLI has 2NZ-FE engine and recommended oil for 2NZ-FE is 0W-20. Use the same grade or shift to 0W-20 but never shift to higher grade 100k kms driven car is new not old.

@@malickasfandyar I also have Axio 2007 😍 and my car is driven 275k kms and I am using 10W-30 of Havoline which is mineral oil. I would suggest you to use 5W-30 of any reputable brand you like as it will prolong the life of the engine. 5W-40 and 10W-40 oil grade are same so don't use 5W-40 as it is expensive than 10W-40, use 5W-30. If you want to understand oil grades you can watch video uploaded on my channel.

It is not that simple. Always use the manufacturer recommended lubricants in your engine. You can find a chart jn your owner's manual.
Engine tolerances are designed for a specific dynamic oil film thickness. And, inappropriate viscosity can cause severe metal to metal contact and reduction in compression.

0 w 20 means u you can use this oil if your weather conditions varies from 0 to 20 like in karachi now its very hot so I can 5 w 40 because 40 is the upper limit

@@nomankhurshid8718 No SORRY you are wrong 0W-20 does not mean that you can use it in 0 to 20 weather. In Karachi we are also using 0W-20 in summers, recommended oil grade should be used and oil grade does not have any link with outside hot weather it has only link with outside cold weather. Always use recommended oil grade because engine components like oil pump valve and seals are made according to recommended oil grade and oil recommendation does not change with outside hot weather. When the engine is at normal operating temperature the normal temperature of oil is 92 to 120 Degrees Celsius so outside hot 40 Degrees Celsius is nothing for engines. I have explained oil grades you can watch that video on my channel and understand how to reads those grades.
@@nomankhurshid8718 On Internet the temperature charts are wrong, always check temperature chart in owners manual. 0W-20 oil can be used at 90 Degrees Celsius temperature too the outside temperature is only hot for us humans not for engines because they have cooling system like radiator, coolant and fan.

Yaar please at least do some real research. A car's engine is NOT at 0 degrees at cold start. The engine temperature is more or less in line with the ambient temperature. 0w grade oils are more suitable to colder climates where the ambient temperature can be very low. The lower the number before "w" the thinner the oil in colder temperatures. So yes it does help cold start in areas where it's significantly cold more like sub zero temperatures but in Pakistan's weather this is not necessarily a requirement. The best advice is to always follow the manufacturer's recommended grade and do not change that because 0w is something new in the market.
