First of all, this Video for the people who cares about details ONLY if you do not agree PLEASE DO NOT WATCH THE VIDEO IT'S NOT FOR YOU.
I supported TFDi MD-11 by pre-order and paying $80 but they need really to work on the exterior and interior, there is no details at all even try to get a good shot from the wing view there is no details at all. Looks so basic, flight dynamics not realistic can’t feel or simulate the weight on takeoff and landing. Without mentioning any names, different aircraft are really way better and way cheaper.
My honest opinion DO NOT BUY ONCE you buy It NO REFUND.

Not a pilot here. I find it interesting that you bitch so much about the visual model / texturing and just gave a few minutes to the flying model. Perhaps the choice to go low resolution was taken in order to get good performance - reach more potential customers. However I concur with you on the fact that the plane has a supersentitive pitch momentum. It is very difficult to handfly it during approach because a minimal input will cause the nose to bounce all over the place. It is as if all the augmentation this plane was known for didnt exist... I've fixed it with a very flat curve response on the joke... but yeah.. again.. thats for them to fix it , and not me.
It's 2024, you can have way better texturing and modeling than the TFDI MD11 without losing performance. Fenix, iniBuilds, and even PMDG have better texturing and modeling and have great performance. The plane is clearly a P3D port, as the P3D model and texturing is pretty much the same.
Not an excuse unfortunately, this is an $80 addon for a next gen simulator. If you can't run it turn down the settings. Inibuilds has better performance and better textures. Rubbish P3d port
I feel the same way. Although the language may be a bit strong, essentially what you stated is absolutely correct. This release unfortunately backfired on the developer. All technical issues can be fixed given enough time, but a tarnished reputation could be very difficult to recover. All the best.
It's not worth $80! However you mentioned only the minor stuff (except for the physics). The System simulations are a nightmare. Packs are instant on when APU Bleed is selected on. In real life it takes up to a minute for the Packs to spool up. Several LVL2 alerts are displayed on the wrong Displays, they mixed up System Display (SD) and EAD (engine and alert display). There are many more mistakes. I really wonder why it took them so long to release this A/C...
Aha here we come to the more interesting and deep cockpit stuff and realism, which is most important. The important cockpit systems should indeed be fixed for maximum realism, maybe you can reach out to the developers to help with ultimate realism? My knowledge about this plane is zero I am specialized in Airbus only, but you could be extremely helpful in that TFDI Discord noticing about such rather hidden system flaws only true experts and engineers know about :)
I can't figure out why you're upset by nacelle chines and GE's nooks and crannies - they're all supposed to be there. I also can't figure out why, as a real world pilot allegedly, you'd start the engines with the EFB instead of showing the immersion using the various systems.
The systems are dang near on point. PROF implementation is the best I've seen since PMDG's MD11 over a decade ago. EFB could be nicer, but that's not a show stopper. Same for 3rd party liveries, they'll only get prettier.
TL;DR: If you want an accurate MD11, this is a strong contender. If you do this for views and eye candy, I can't help ya, she looks good to me. $80 is a bit steep, especially with how long the release delay took.
@@gtasassin I’m not asking to start the engine from EFB I’m a real world pilot and I use an actual procedures. That’s not the point my point is the texture they are using not good at all and for systems side still $80 not fair price Fenix for example way cheaper deep System simulation, texture top Notch and I would love to get what I am paying for and I care about details and I am picky I want the engine looks and sounds good like any other aircraft but this one is garbage not worth $20 even.

The exterior textures are from a 3rd party, you can get other ones. Fenix is Fenix. If a bunch of other developers make their own MD11s, we will see who does it best. There are only two MD11s, and SkySim's is so wrecked that it isn't even competition. The engines look exactly as they're supposed to. The flight dynamics are fine, it's definitely not sensitive. Maybe your setup is wonky? The real airplane flies a bit different, for sure, but not enough to make a whole video about it.

Thank you for the video! I am glad that we have an awesome long hauler with the PMDG 777 now. It is sad that they released the MD11 in this state, would be nice to fly it again.
I was really looking forward to this jet. The MD11 is very fascinating to they eye but now I won’t spend money on it. Thank you for this video, I was probably minutes from giving them my money.
About the plane though, it looks horrible. I also hate how people are saying, “Well it’s been out for 3 days. What do you expect” I expect little to no bugs, nicely textured and visually appealing. Everybody entitled to opinion and I respect it. Thx for the review. There are some things that can be improved. I'm sure they'll do that on the updates. I'm not much of a fan of the textures either, but they're not horrific. Thx for the review. I still like flying it. :)

There’s a direct correlation between CZcamsrs that got this plane for free giving it positive reviews versus guys like this that dumped his own money into and got duped. I’d be pissed too.

I don’t have msfs so I can’t talk about quality of tfdi plane, but I have xplane and I bought rotate md 11 and it is amazing (and cheaper) so if some one have both sims I recommend rotate. Even that it is in xp (with MUCH worse graphics than msfs) I think rotate plane looks a little bit better than this

absolutely agreed, thank you for putting this out. I think this is one of the most mediocre addons i've seen for 80 DOLLARS. I was recently asking in the discord about the potential for adding dull and sharp nozzles on the CF6 and the answer I got was "it was outruled". Absolutely terrible attention to detail for 80 damn dollars. Same with some other stuff on the modelling, it literally looks like a p3d port.
I had the same problem with the touchy yoke, its supposed be over realistic, but I didn’t like it, so I just turned down the sensitivity and that solved the problem 👍🏾

Why not, everyone has the right to point out flaws and criticize certain not so great parts of an ultra-expensive product. :)
Besides all criticism (with textures iam partly with you) you should keep in mind that this plane has a liiiiitle more weight on its tail. The high sensivity on the elevation pitch is just physics, especially on a fully trimmed one. Then People seem to forget that its producing its own thrust(!). Of course you dive down with a simple movement. It just makes sense (to me). People often tend to forget that rocket booster on the tail...
It was a shocker for me at first but it makes sense let's not forget how far back the wings are aswell

When PMDG and FENIX set the bar for the price of 70 to 80 dollar plane this is not good. Was that a piece of cardboard coming out of the rear of the engine. Hopefully they will improve it.
Fenix was $50 the other variants such as the Sharklets and engine variants for the A320 are free.
Recently PMDG hasn't been very good either.......Promises not kept. My fave topic was where is the P3D B777 series VC update to the standard of the NGXu and newer product B747s? Was supposed to have been released two years ago as a free update but until now not only no revised release date but not even any official update on this....NGXu for MSFS which was obviously a simple "port over" from P3D hence all the problems with it at launch on MSFS....... Non working brakes anyone? FENIX now has set the new standard in MSFS being far superior to PMDG in MSFS but at a cheaper cost....I have the FENIX but now am back in P3D as to me MSFS seems to be more for flying entertainment than actual realistic flying............

the addon so far is anything but ready to be released, they know about those issues and it's gonna be fixed someday. But I guess they just wanted to rush to release to counter the PMDG 777
Yet the video could go a little bit more in deepth rather than speaking about texturing which are less important because you fly it from the cockpit not from wingview (not a reason to not improve it though)
Last built I tested, the FMC was having still a lot of inop and incorrect stuffs and same systems wise

I really appreciate that you got my point, I don't know if TFDi sending people and they keep trying to tell me to drop the video and I will never drop it. I will keep this video to help people to see how the aircraft look like before they pay 80$.

For someone who swears this much during a "review", do you really think you are going to reach the proper audience? As for the sensitivity, you NEED to adjust your settings. It's a difficult plane to fly even in the real world. You need to learn how to fly the aircraft. It's nothing like a 737 or A320 in terms of flight dynamics. Just give it time. It literally just came out yesterday. No addon is perfect on release.

Yeah its riddled with bugs, only fair to call them out. 80 bucks and it went trough alpha, beta and collectors edition testing and it will need 6-12months till this one is bug free…
@@humpypumpy Yes, but in this simulator you don't have force feed back unless you got the money to spend. So, that being said, proper sensitivity settings is important in the simulator. Making your settings feel heavier in the sim greatly improves the handling of the aircraft. And yes, it is a twitchy aircraft, hence you need to be gentle.
I would say this review is a bit harsh. The airplane textures maybe does not look that photorealistic. But this airplane is not some "FPS-friendly" low-poly trash with 999999999999999999 never-fixed and never-cared-about visual glitches and and texture bugs and with important interesting areas literally having no 3D-details whatsoever when looking in the turbines, gear wells etc. - all this problems happened in some highly appreciated (and not allowed to be critiziced in any way or getting banned from certain forums) releases during the last four years. The MD11 has none of these problems.
The default outside textures might not be the best and don´t fully catch the vibe of photorealistic reflections oil grime and metallic surfaces. But the 3D model including gear, engines, cockpit and other areas is rather detailed, the engine can be looked into from behind seeing a fully modeled turbine in the engine core and exhaust, with most likely not only the front N1 inlet fan spinning with the rest of the engine fully static but the full engine is probably animated here (but not sure about that detail because I could not see that in your video, you never looked into the rear parts of the engine nacelle while it was running).
The cockpit looks very interesting and detailed and seems to be free of visual bugs and non-functional fake-dud-panels.
Just this oxygen masks cannot be clicked - but to be honest this is the most boring part, the only thing that happens when this mask is made clickable in some other planes is a "pfffft!" sound that is played for one second, and nothing else interesting or deep happens here.
The oxygen masks not making a pffft-sound and some wing-view problems seemed to be main problems most of the critics was revolving around - but don´t you think this is meaningless when it comes to immersive cockpit operations, perfect system and avionics simulation, flight management computer programming and perfect sitting-inside-cockpit flair?
The light bleed in some cockpit floor areas, the cargo door with the faulty clipping animation and no engine core air inlet guide vanes modeled in 3D behind the N1 fan are the biggest flaws I see here, but this is easy to fix. And sooner or later 3D model enhancements will surely come over time.
Never touching this aircraft again is really too harsh with such great cockpit quality and functionality, and a good solid 3D model with just a few flickering problems on certain graphics cards.
To be honest I can´t wait to test this airplane myself to see how well it will do compared to my favorite, the good old Fenix V1 :)

I can tell you now real life pilots had mixed reviews on this thing. It’s like the C 46 commando that plane hated crosswinds certain conditions. It was the most unforgiving aircraft on the planet for civilian aircraft, just like the McDonnell Douglas and 11, but at the end of the day if you could handle it and figure out her quirks and figure out what makes her tick she is the most loved aircraft pilot and even maintenance Crew like the way, the auto pilot works. I was a bit confused with the way the auto photos worked but is soon as you work them out. She is a beast to handle her flight characteristics are completely different and if you have mainly flown A320s or 737 then of course you’re not going to like the product at all because you’re used to a different style of handling performances. This plane was literally built in the transitional years between flyby wire and hydraulics.
If you’re used to the 777 or the 747.. you are not going to enjoy the MD 11 in my opinion, this plane is worth $80 all day long it has everything needed to be a good aircraft. Didn’t need a bit more time in the oven it more time in the oven would’ve hurt
But the worst aircraft for $80. My opinion is sky simulations that thing shouldn’t even be charged $80 that is A $25 aircraft in Australian money and I’m not even joking. I was ripped off the aircraft, but it was the only MD 11 at the time
So all your concerns and problems are just down to your own personal opinions of the aircraft that you haven’t really gotten used to because you’re used to a different style of handling different style of physics different style of controls if you give it time and I generally mean give it time watch videos learn how McDonald uglies actually built the aircraft. I’m absolutely confident you will enjoy it.
If I was you, I would learn to fly the MD, 83 That has a similar auto pilot philosophy where you’ve got a pull the knobs to activate certain things like you’ll get used to the auto pilot philosophy, the way they use, but they’re a different panel completely but soon as you realise all the little quirks that both auto pilot systems use perfect

I see a lot of poeple that are mad because you complaind about some aspects. And i agree with you with some things, like te tablet in not good, i like having it but te 2 sould be saparte, i am not a pilot, so i won't comment on the controls but indeed they are very very sensitive. I do like that there is a cabin. I get your complaints about the textures and for the price they should be vetter, but for me they are fine. The Fenix and pmdg 777 are indeed much better and the 737 is a little better. I would still recommend the plane if you want a tri jet, or a little older longhouler than the 777. They should also fix that you cant go outside in the cockpit view.
I know to fly the md11 since pmdg md11. Compared to pmdg, tfdi md11 is very disappointing. I used tfdi md11 on p3dv4. Guess what, the sids and stars are showing ridiculous patterns, time compression is only 4x (pmdg could achieve 16x time compression), apu switched of when switching of apu switch in electrical panel. Had to start an engine in order to prevent power loss. In mid air, I had to switch of autothrottle and use manual throttle as thrust was continously increasing and decreasing, autoclimb and descent had issue, so had to adjust climb rate manually. VOR and ILS screens are not working. They released a very unfinished product. I could not even land the aircraft. In PMDG MD11, the aircraft was very realistic and its sad they have totally stopped its purchase. Tfdi's other product Boeing 717 is so realistic.

Just looking at this so far it did literally look like they took a screenshot of all the textures instead of downloading them.
I mean. On the engine exhaust it looks like they took a picture of metal from Google and just pasted it on. NO metallic surface so no reflection of the sun. It just looks like the model and textures was the first thing they did and when they pivoted to the internals they never compared the quality.
No addon can be perfect and there’s some people who look at everything, but this is utter garbage. A simple redo of the aircraft model and better quality textures could make it so much better.

Absolutely spot on review! I agree 100% with your review! The developers promised a study level product, saying that the systems, flight model, and textures would rival the best payware aircraft. I have been looking forward to purchasing this aircraft on day one! When I saw pre-release videos, I thought that it was still a work in progress, because of how the textures looked. I thought that surely, the textures will look much better than that! On release day, I still decided to look at release product videos, and I was shocked at how bad it looked!! The default planes in MSFS look better than this! You have a very valid point about other very good developers, who make much better products for the same, or less money! I''m glad that I waited, and I never purchase a product for MSFS without looking at reviews, exactly because of things like this. It's great that reviewers like you, show potential buyers exactly what they get for their hard earned money! It also shows developers quality standards, and gives them feedback on where they need to step up their product quality. I'm so glad that I didn't buy it! If they put a lot more work in to fix these issues, maybe I'll give it a second look, but the way the MD-11 looks now, NO WAY that I'm going to buy this!

lol never fail to make me laugh people who complain about a home sim plane being "too sensitive". Mister real pilot you are at home sitting in front of your computer with a fake yoke and rudder. There's no hydraulic cable linking the control to flight surfaces, you can adjust the sensitivity.

You seem really angry, and mostly about graphical issues, and not system depth. $80 isn’t a lot of money…certainly not enough $$$ to be this upset. With that being said, If you have genuine concerns, send support ticket to tfdi…..I’m sure they will improve it over time.

@@pilot_franklin265 The plane is complete. There being small bugs (and yes what you're complaining about is small) does not mean the plane is not "complete." There's no such thing as bug-free and there will always be things to work out on release. They could take 50 years to release and test it constantly and *still* there would be bugs on release. This is how development works. The plane is fun and behaves exactly like you should expect it to for what it is. It's very much worth $80 even now, and will be even more once the small bugs you pointed out are fixed in the next week or two (yes TFDi has put out an announcement saying what they're going to fix). Your video is just being petty nitpicking and does not accurately represent the quality and status of the plane. You really should take it down.

Lol the PMDG 777 has more bugs than this thing (at least in my case). And why do you actually refer to the textures throughout the entire video? Firstly, they're not as bad as you make them out to be and secondly, there's more that makes an addon good than textures, like the systems (wich are great in my opinion). Also, you can't expect an MD11 to fly exactly like a 737 or an A320. These are completely different aircraft. Apart from that, the MD11 was only released yesterday. It is clear that the aircraft is not yet perfect.
In my opinion, this “review” is complete nonsense.
Sorry but the textures are pretty horrendous, especially the engine textures. You could show me a picture and tell me it was the Sky Simulations MD11 and I'd believe you. It's clearly an aircraft made for P3D first and then ported over since the difference in texturing and modeling is barely noticeable between the two versions. I think texturing and modeling matters and overall visual representation, especially when other aircraft that are cheaper or the same price have texturing and modeling that are lightyears ahead, it's a disgrace to pass this as an $80 product. I've heard the systems are decent but not the greatest, I'm not a MD-11 system expert so I can't judge that.
Demand a Refund!!!!. If its not of merchantable quality.

yeah ok buddy, you spent 80 dollars for an aircraft that looks really good but turns out to be awful, they dont offer a refund, id be annoyed as much as this guy, PMDG's 777 is 70-80 ish dollars and thats incredible and is worth the price but the aircraft portrayed in this video seems so rushed, dont blame the guy who made this video dude probably saved a kid's money thinking the aircraft is good.

I already paid $80 and I don’t want anyone to spend the money and then they will regret it, I requested a refund and they said no so I had to publish this video to show the people what are they getting for $80
