      would like to see that also..was wondering if the solar cover would bunch up on itself or spread out evenly over the pool.

    Pool is nicely clean. The Sika sauce is interesting and could be used for other projects I am thinking. I think I would have mounted the stanchion a bit further out (west?)(cover supports rotated CCW) and then had the cover pole swing against the rain water tank, even though that would be 270 degrees, so you would not have the post out in the yard to have to mow around. The pool cover is a great addition.

      Thanks. Sika sauce..Ha ha. I didn’t have a lot of options for the stand, any closer to the house then I definitely couldn’t get the lawn mower through. Mounting opposite to the west runs the chance of interfering with any additional solar water heaters. I think it is possible I could have mounted a little more to the north (your suggestion) and swung the cover/reel back to the water catchment system. Not sure if there is enough length. Anyways interesting to get another person’t perspective. Thanks for watching.

    Do both sides of your pool still have the mounting bracket installed??

    This is exactly what I need for my pool. Do the mounting brackets that you used for this project swivel as well? Great idea! Thanks

    Does this stand have to be out in the grass? Do you think a support in the middle of the solar blanket would work?

    This is exactly what I was looking for...with that - I need to make mine a portable version of this stand. Great video though. Thanks.

    How big is your pool?

    Just an idea I have because I hate how the roller looks on the pool and it’s appearance. Can’t I do two posts close to the edge of the pool opposite side of my deck and put the roller on there? Will the roller system still work that way or does it only work ON the pool? I just purchased it but didn’t realize it had to mount on top of the pool.

      You can do two post at the end as you mentioned. You may need longer straps. If so, use these straps. I just replaced my straps and these are nice and long. amzn.to/3h3GLSC

    curious to know the length of the 4x4 and how far into the ground you dug. how much gravel did you pour in before you covered it with the post mix?

    • @GreenMountainDIYGuy
      @GreenMountainDIYGuy  Před 3 lety +1

      These are 8 footers and tey went at least 3 feet into the gound. 6-10 inches of gravel at the base. You depth and gravel will depend on your frost line and soil conditions. Thanks for watching!

    Too bad it's not available on Amazon right now and it's to small for a 24' pool :(

    Did you have to buy 3 mounts total? The third being for the post..?

    • @GreenMountainDIYGuy
      @GreenMountainDIYGuy  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes, I bought an extra set to use for the 3rd post. It’s also nice to have extra parts on hand too...

    Does the bracket that mounts on the pool get in the way of putting the winter cover on?

    Did you buy an extra stand???

    • @GreenMountainDIYGuy
      @GreenMountainDIYGuy  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes, so also have an extra stand on hand too. At some point, I will probably have to replace one. Only issue so far is the white plastic has discolored more to a yellow. Only cosmetic.
