How Netball was invented!!! Was originally called Women's Basketball 🥴 #netball #funny #rulesofnetball #theguywhodecides #jasonjasonjason Tickets To My Show 👉👉 linktr.ee/jimm...
You missed the part where there are no nets. And that the distance between a shooter and defender is 3 feet, instead of something metric. And jarred fingers to go with the sprained ankles. It has been several decades since I played netball; why is the trauma so vivid?
Long ago, when was training to be a teacher, I was forced to my netball umpires exam. As soon it was over i promptly forgot all about netball and have never bothered with it again. I passed but only just.) Congratulations Jimmy on the clearest explanation of the rules ever! Brilliant work.
As a GK and GD add in a few broken fingers from the ball bouncing off the tips..... and don't forget the clawing... I mean scratching...I mean gentle hand touches of your opponent!
I play netball and I sent this to my team last night from tiktok and one of the parents sent it from facebook and no it's on CZcams too, I love it it's so funny and I've seen it three times in 12 hours
All I remember about netball was getting continually whistled at by an umpire because I was apparently never doing the right thing in the right place for whatever bib they'd put on me. Hated it ever since.
Perhaps this same guy can explain to me why in soccer you cannot pass the ball to a member of your team if there are no players on the other team behind them, and the goalie may or may not count I cannot remember. Also faking broken ankles when an opposing player comes within 30 feet of you. Perhaps a whole video on how it was invented is in order.
Ironically Netball was invented in North Carolina when they learned about the exciting new unnamed game in Indiana that everyone was going crazy for. Professor Naismith wrote a letter which was a description of the rules he had so far and how he thought the game should be played. Confusing the rules and how the game should be played resulted in Netball, which was originally called Basketball, the name change coming to avoid confusion with American Basketball. NB originally Basketball did not have a backboard, a net was added to keep the game going when players missed a shot. After consideration it went from a net to a board because players wanted a firm surface to use when shooting for goals.
Netball as it exists today comes was initially invented in Massachusetts by Senda Berenson. She read an Article in a newspaper about Naismiths game and decided to put games together as a way to keep women fit because gymnastics was losing popularity. After a few of what she described as "experimental games" she was appalled at the games "roughness" so she changed the rules to make the game more "ladylike". 1 year later another game was founded in London by a british teacher called Martina Bergman-Österberg, who returned from a visit to the US where she saw Beresons game being played. She developed the game separately in the UK, changing the rules several times until 1987. The game you're thinking of was invented by Clara Baer in New Orleans (not sure where you got North Carolina). Clara Baer tried introducing Berensons game to her college but was asked to codify the rules first. That is where she contacted Naismith about the rules and confused them, because she was working from her knowledge of Berensons game. Her rules were printed in 1899. Osterberg transferred to a Kent where an American teacher was lecturing and the two merged the 1897 and 1899 rules into one game.
@@louiscypher4186 Impressive, my understanding is based on an account in the British TV show QI. They normally get their facts right but you seem to have better sources.
He's like an insane genius from the future who has come back in time to give us instructions on how the future works, but instead has been driven mad with power and alcohol.
Jumped into the comments to see how many die hard netball fans are angry about it saying the first foot gets glued when it’s the second foot. Surprisingly haven’t seen that comment yet. Never thought about how gross it is to exchange sweaty bibs until now 😂
If you the first foot is glued/ grounded, you can pivot on it and move the second foot. However, if you land on one foot then the second and lift the first, you can’t put the first foot back down (so in that instance yes, the second foot would be glued).
I don’t remember the bibs being sweaty when we were young… but I do remember them dripping with the guys’ sweat when we played in a mixed team as adults. 😬
After 35 years of playing the game, up until this moment I never realised just how crazy all the rules are. Make eye contact with the line. 🤣🤣🤣 Oh and yep I see a reconstruction in my future. Worth it for all the memories and trophies though!
I played netball for one season when I was in grade 5, and my only recollection of it was girls crying when they twisted their ankles, the sweats that had been doing it since grade 2 with their mums that were just as, if not more, competitive than them, and shooting in the rain wishing for the first time in my life that I had windscreen wipers on my eyes.
Did walking netball a few years ago and it was so bizarre....get a few more steps in and more than 3 seconds to pass the ball but it is really hard to not automatically run to catch the ball😅😅 I actually sprained my finger playing netball in school...except the ball was down the other end of the court 😂😂
Man I spent 20 years playing the sport and all I got was a ruined body. Specifically fingers knees toes all the things that you can hurt playing as no contacts
Oh come on Jason!!!! Pick it up!!! It is about time you learn how to take notes!!!!! It is all fairly simple…. Just a few unrealistic and confusing rules!!!!!😅😅😅😅😅😅
Maybe if Jason wore a dive mask it would save him a bit of clean up time, arh team sports I bask in my ignorance of all their rules as Jimmy will do a far better & more entertaining job of simplifying what the hell is going on.
I still don't understand the rules, but this is by far the best explanation.
Likewise!!! I am even more confused now. 😂😂😂😂
If you can understand other sport you can understand netball lol not being able to dribble or run makes you focus on handling skills
What is truly odd, is that because I grew playing netball, everything The Decider says makes so much more sense 😂
“Sweaty, sweaty bibs” 😂
As a netballer i confirm this is 100% accurate 🤣
Except for the bit about the first foot gets glued. Second foot
@@melissalowcock3035 no it’s the first foot.. because you use the second to pivot or you can use it to step in if your shooting
Can you explain the rules? I still have no idea😂
Oh yes this is indeed accurate 😅
You should quit and play a real sport.
You missed the part where there are no nets. And that the distance between a shooter and defender is 3 feet, instead of something metric. And jarred fingers to go with the sprained ankles. It has been several decades since I played netball; why is the trauma so vivid?
The hands tucked in bags of frozen peas every game night so the bruising would go down enough by practice...
I’ve been playing netball for four years next year, and this was so relatable. It’s so hard to explain how to play, but you nailed it. Poor Jason!
"Women's basketball is a gentlemanly game"...not how we played it at my school. Netball was most certainly a contact sport. 😂🤕 We made AFL look soft.
Long ago, when was training to be a teacher, I was forced to my netball umpires exam. As soon it was over i promptly forgot all about netball and have never bothered with it again. I passed but only just.) Congratulations Jimmy on the clearest explanation of the rules ever! Brilliant work.
From my experience when I was rehabbing my knee, I can verify the number of knee and ankle injuries from netball I saw come through.
As a GK and GD add in a few broken fingers from the ball bouncing off the tips..... and don't forget the clawing... I mean scratching...I mean gentle hand touches of your opponent!
4:17 I played Netball for Saturday Morning Sports in -4° on a frost-covered court in Canberra… while wearing a skirt. 🥶
I play netball and I sent this to my team last night from tiktok and one of the parents sent it from facebook and no it's on CZcams too, I love it it's so funny and I've seen it three times in 12 hours
I play netball and this is a hilarious commentary on the beautiful yet slightly odd rules of my game
Getting visuals of The Guy Who Decides and Jason playing Netball !!!😂😂😂😂
Hey Jimmy there’s a new character 😂👍🏻
Absolutely gold 👌
Makes sense.
Can I suggest Jason gets a raincoat.
Please do more of these! My kids and I have watched them all and love them!
And somehow, it becomes the most widely played sport by women and girls in Australia. And a defacto popularity ranking in primary schools nationwide 😂
I played it 50 years ago and it was an old game then!
* watches video *
* is completely confused *
* reads comments *
THIS IS A REAL GAME?!
Jason is awesome!
Jason never took the pen tip off so nothing would of been written down. Much like my understanding of Netball 😂
We’ll divide the court into thirds but time into quarters.
Literally love all your videos. (Even giggle and hoot still watching that til this day😋)
He never gets old 😂❤
All I remember about netball was getting continually whistled at by an umpire because I was apparently never doing the right thing in the right place for whatever bib they'd put on me. Hated it ever since.
I am seeing you next year Jimmy can't wait
Omg I started playing netball at 7 and my ankles are killing me all the time
I have been a netball dad for the last 6 years. This is all 100% accurate.
What a weird kooky sport. I love it!
“And the foot that lands on the floor first becomes”… broken
Marvellously confusing 😅

*under my breath* stupider isn’t even a word sir…
Hilarious...no wonder I couldn't play it 😂😂
Poor Jason needs a drink.
Today I learned netball exists
Why is this so accurate
I thought one of the running / standing rules was changed because of knee injuries. Orthopaedic surgeons made a lot of money from netball injuries.
Ironically Netball was invented in North Carolina when they learned about the exciting new unnamed game in Indiana that everyone was going crazy for. You just know that the real reason for many of the strange rules for these games are probably even dumber than this.
... and that is why I never played netball.
😂
Do you put a waterproof sheet on the floor before you shoot?
do guy who decider city

W-what..? ..How? Why? Surely this game doesn't exist. Surely people are not that dumb to play something like this for real.
