Jonathan, thanks so much for this excellent explaination. Your scenario is exactly what we're doing in our church, and fortunately I'm now seeing where we're having issues. We're using a track trigger from a tab that the drummer activates, which sets in motion all of the triggers for slide advancement and lighting through Lightkey. This is all set up by our worship minister. I see where you place the lighting progression as connected steps in Lightkey. We're not doing that, and every Sunday, we have a com failure between PP and Lightkey. Now I know what needs to be done to fix it. I just have to convince my WL, which may be a hard-sell! But nevertheless, great explaination brother! Thanks!

Thanks for the great explanation. We've been using ProPresenter for years and I'm contemplating replacing our aging ETC Ion light controller with LightKey. This definitely is another reason to consider switching. You mention a "pluggable unit" to get more video out feeds. I've noticed this limitation on the newer Mac Minis as well. Do you use the Apple one or something else? I didn't see a link for that. Thanks

Glad that was helpful! Here is the link to the pluggable unit. It is working flawlessly for us. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0779K9DG2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 If you need any help setting things up, feel free to reach out.

Do you have to run lightkey and Propresenter on the same Mac to get them to work together?

Thanks for the question. I have not done it myself but you should be able to set of the connection between the 2 computers as long as they are on the same network together. I would suggest having them both hardwired with an Ethernet cable into the same network switch rather than trust wifi connections. If I find a good video tutorial on setting that up, I will post it here for you.

Is it possible to do the same with a PTZ Optics camera? I do have Lightkey already setup within PP7 but I can’t figure out how to control a PTZ. Thank you!

So that is a great question! Had never thought about doing that. But yes it is possible. PTZ Optics released a firmware update a few months back that includes midi control. So if you have a 12x, 20x, or 30x version of their camera, you can update the firmware and connect midi control to propresenter. This video will help with setup. czcams.com/users/livebeztDJ-Lz4M?feature=share
If you need more help, I’d be happy to try to work it through with you as I have not actually done it myself. You can email me at l55techconsulting@gmail.com

How much ram would you recommend to run both propresentor 7 and lightkey?

Solid question! Renewed Visions website recommends 16GB for ProPresenter 7. Lightkey is very easy on a system so it doesn't take much processing power. I currently have both together running on an M1 Macbook Pro with 16GB ram and have never had an issue.
