  • What does the XAOC Odessa sound like when it's not making robot noises? Howabout when you hook up an Elekrofon Klang to the Hel expander? This video shows you.

I'm absolutely in love with my Odessa. I find this oscillator excels at slowly modulated drony sounds.

6:00 sounds like Einstein on the Beach by Glass, love it

I'd love to see a whole system styled after that elektrofon module

Seriously nice design. Shame you can’t buy that anywhere on the planet 😞

Nicely done but, I really wish I hadn't seen this video... I've been researching the Odessa and have one on its way to me (arriving tomorrow!) and now I see this Elekrofon Klang! Want so bad, but apparently, it's already been discontinued. :(

I don't know that Klang's discontinued entirely. Last time I talked with him (probably a year or two ago) he was working on a new version. I'll grant you he's been pretty quiet lately....

@@JohnSchussler yeah, I contacted him after I commented on your video and he immediately wrote back. He's definitely working on a new version of Klang as well as some other things, but due to Covid, components are hard to come by, and due to the War in Ukraine, he's having a hard time getting his panels made since they're made in Poland right on the border of Ukraine. But he did say he's still around and in business, and hopefully, it's coming soon!

@@JohnSchussler I finally got one! Someone was selling theirs and I jumped on it! I'm still learning how best to use it, but thanks to your video for the inspiration to begin with.

How do you locate these modules? What rig structure do you use around them? Is there a way to brake the monotonous line to a more versatile , textural, polyphonic one?
    Good luck.

Not sure I understand the question. As far as the sequencing goes, this video uses an Arturia Keystep set to arpeggiator mode, which I change chords on every so often.

Odessa is polyphonic, so you are able to create chords and drones with it. Also, are you asking what format these modules are based on? Cuz if so, the format is called Eurorack.
