Equal footing with Elon Musk? ISRO has spent 36 years trying to develop an air-breathing rocket with no success. They claim success but they are lying. I know because I used to work there. Elon Musk is building multiple rocket engines every day, it takes ISRO 5 years to assemble one cryo or semi-cryo engine, that too with help from Ukraine etc. And you have the arrogance to ask for equal footing with Elon Musk? Until last year ISRO and GoI would not allow Starlink services in India. Musk launches a rocket every day carrying dozens of satellites each weighing 300 to 500 kg. And ISRO took how many years to develop the small sat launch vehicle which can launch one 500 kg satellite? And you want equal footing with Elon Musk?
It goes to show how little ISRO and Somnath know about SpaceX and Elon Musk. For that matter even Lockheed Martin, ULA, Boeing, ESA and others are not aware, so Somnath can be excused for that. Recently the Raptor Ver 3 was shown and the head of ULA called it an unfinished engine. SpaceX responded with a picture of the "unfinished" engine firing. The competition cannot even conceive of a rocket engine which looks so simple and streamlined that they called it unfinished.
I appreciate ISRO's efforts as a government organisation but one problem that ISRO has is conceit. From Madhavan Nair to every ISRO head, they boast too much until they fail.
The host of this program is not knowledgeable at all. I don't even think he has a science background. Elon Musk has never mentioned ISRO except when Indian reporters ask him what he thinks about ISRO and he has responded by saying that for a government organization, ISRO has accomplished a lot.
I am not blaming ISRO at all except for the boasting and fooling the Indian people. Even NASA is useless these days. If not for Elon, NASA would have been at the complete mercy of the Russians.

Agreed. I had a friend at ISRO, he told me same thing. Here Somnath is just downplaying Musk by saying oh they had political connections so they got Engine from NASA. Lol he dont know shit! Elon was just 180 million dollar guy before SPACEX. He had no money left when he launched his final rocket which was successful and NASA awarded him 2.3 billion dollar contract. ISRO chairman says, we should open libraries at religious places. Thanks to Europeans they developed all this tech with their mindset. Asians don't even have a mindset to be able to copy what is already invented! 😂

@@John-ff5fwYou need to rethink about your thought over here,
Musk got the engines from Russian missiles and reverse engineered to make the Falcon rockets , We know that too
Political connections here is referred to the connection with politics by which he was able to grow so quickly
Somnaths quotes on temples is about preservation of ancient culture , This is not about Rocket science

    • @John-ff5fw
      @John-ff5fw Před 18 dny

@@vijayadeep0_0 doesn't matter. He did not get rocket engines from Russia. Russians laughed at him, so he made those engines all by himself with help of nasa scientists he hired. Tom Muller is his chief rocket engine developer. Somnath did not do to preserve ancient culture. He was just trying to woo bjp govt. Who can read at any religious place as there is always too much rush and noise around of devotees. Schools and libraries are built for learning and temples for worship. Everything has its own utility. Fyi Elon musk learnt rocketry all by himself in a very sophisticated library not at church. I speak the truth, I don't have to change anything as long as things I speak are factually correct.
If political connections are responsible for cutting edge growth of companies like SPACEX, Adani would have already terraformed Mars and Ambanis would have had a reception on Mars.

The "Pale Blue Dot" refers to a famous photograph of Earth taken by the Voyager 1 spacecraft on February 14, 1990. From a distance of about 3.7 billion miles (6 billion kilometers), Earth appears as a tiny speck, less than a pixel in size, against the vastness of space.
The phrase "Pale Blue Dot" was popularized by the astronomer Carl Sagan, who used it as the title of his 1994 book.
In this book, Sagan reflects on the photograph and what it symbolizes. He eloquently describes how the image underscores the fragility and smallness of Earth in the vast cosmic arena, serving as a humbling reminder of our place in the universe.
The photograph and Sagan's reflections on it have become iconic in discussions about space exploration, environmentalism, and humanity's future.
However, for most astronauts who go to space, Earth appears as a breathtaking and vibrant planet, characterized by its blue oceans, white clouds, and green and brown landmasses. Depending on the distance from which it is observed, Earth's appearance varies:
      1. **Low Earth Orbit (LEO) - Around 200 to 1,200 miles (320 to 2,000 kilometers) above Earth**:
      - From this altitude, astronauts and satellites see Earth in great detail. The curvature of the planet is visible, along with vast expanses of blue ocean, continents, mountain ranges, and large storm systems swirling in the atmosphere. The planet is predominantly blue due to the vast oceans, hence often called the "Blue Planet." White clouds and weather patterns are also clearly visible, creating dynamic and ever-changing views.
      2. **Geostationary Orbit - About 22,236 miles (35,786 kilometers) above Earth**:
      - From this distance, Earth appears as a full disc. The features of the planet, such as continents, seas, and clouds, can be seen but with less detail than from LEO. The colors-blue, white, green, and brown-are still distinct, with the blue of the oceans being the most prominent.
      3. **The Moon (About 238,855 miles or 384,400 kilometers away)**:
      - From the Moon's surface, Earth appears as a small, bright, colorful globe hanging in the blackness of space. The planet looks much smaller, but its round shape and the blue of the oceans, white of the clouds, and brown and green of the landmasses are still discernible. This view was famously captured in the "Earthrise" photograph taken by the Apollo 8 astronauts in 1968.
      4. **Deep Space (Millions to billions of miles away)**:
      - As spacecraft travel farther from Earth, our planet shrinks in size and eventually appears as a tiny dot in the vastness of space. The "Pale Blue Dot" image taken by Voyager 1 is an example of how Earth looks from about 3.7 billion miles away-a minuscule, almost insignificant speck of light amidst the dark, empty cosmos.
In all these views, Earth stands out as a vibrant, life-supporting oasis in the otherwise dark and hostile environment of space.
