  • The Balmorral Blues is a popular foxtrot rhythm sequence dance created by Robert Stewart in 1971. It is demonstrated here as a social dance and we have danced the popular social variation of dancing the side together steps in bar 12 as an underarm turn for the lady.
Demonstrated by Ross and Sue of Ballroom Moves to CZcams song - How it Began by Silent Partner.

Under arm turn is wrong as the Lady is meant to commence turning into shadow position as the gent dances two side closes.
Also at the end of the locks both Lady and gent should finish with a brush w/w

Yes, as pointed out in our description above, we have danced this socially with a popular variation of dancing the lady under the arm. The dance was created with side together twice with the lady turning to the right on the second side together, however for a bit of fun, we often turn under on the first side together.

Yes, thank you, this is just a popular variation that is often danced by couples wanting to add a bit extra to the dance. Instead of just turning 5/8's to the right, a whole turn can be applied to the first side together, and then finish with the 5/8's turn.
