    I was the original set designer for this version of Splash. If you’ve seen Disneyland’s original version you’ll see we changed a lot of the staging. The things I’m most proud of though are two things most people don’t notice-The silent anti rollbacks on the lifts and the retention system in the trestle in the front that allows guests to see the park and the guests watching the ride being able to see the boats go by from the pathway that crosses the front of the attraction. Good times

    After visiting DL Tokyo I understand why cannot be rethemed... because Japan doesn't care and doesn't want the retheme in the first place... and consequently, because the whole area is Splash Mountain-themed, they should not just remove one single attraction but close the whole, according to the park map, at least 1/4 of the park to get rid of everything related to this attraction since all references to Song of the South are scattered all around... at least we saved this one, the last normal Disneyland park in the world that didn't kneel to nonsense.

    • @Ariennon
      @Ariennon Před 6 dny +1

      They’re also keeping splash mountain because of how much the locals love it. It was a big hit when Disneyland first came to Japan and it still is (the wait time for this ride as of right now is 35 minutes, but it usually longer it’s just the weekday). Plus, Tokyo Disney is not owned by Disney AT ALL. So Japan can do whatever they want with it without American ceos telling them what to do. So it’ll be stupid of them to destroy their most popular ride.

    (Using translation)
    I don't think there are even 10% of people who think Splash Mountain is a problem in Japan.Nanbu no Uta itself was released right after WW2 ended, so not many people watch it.And OLC will remake Space Mountain by 2027. It's currently unrealistic for OLC, which lost a lot of money due to the coronavirus, to rebuild Splash Mountain.
    Also, there are still several souvenirs with Brer Rabbit printed on them.
    Furthermore, Japanese Disney fans are conservative and have a strong negative reaction to the removal of attractions.
    Some people are strongly against Marvel even coming to Tokyo.
    So Splash Mountain will be there until at least 2027.

    Contrary to what many people believe, Splash and Critter Country are not completely safe from being redone. The entirety of Tomorrowland (most notably SPACE MOUNTAIN) will undergo a huge transformation starting this year; BUT I don't think they will touch Splash Mountain because it's just too popular (and too good of an attraction; just look at how perfectly it uses the Frontierland sightlines in the outdoor portions... and those colorful detailed sets and figures!). There's a reason why it's one of the three DPA-eligible (paid fastpass) attractions in the park, while Space and Big Thunder are under the free fastpass service.
