This truly blessed me. I am 39 and single my whole life. What she said about not fitting in really touched me. I wasted so many years waiting for someone I believed God wanted for me and now that I realise (or finally accept the truth) I have been feeling episodes of deep lonliness that I haven't allowed myself to feel in years. A husband would be nice, if that is God's will, but my prayer more than ever now is for a church family a church community to call home. 🙏🏾

@Get IT J i get that-im 57 never married was engaged 2x but it was a blessing that i never married either one of those guys. Ive had so many medical issues and other things going on=i feel God is constantly testing me. Its worst this year-lost my teaching job because of covid-have cataract in one eye so i can longer drive-no family here etc. Even though i have a strong faith i truly wonder why im even here-those are the saddest and worst days for me!
@Get IT J I'm same age like u. Never married and no kids either. Few friends since I'm immigrant. came to the States at 35. My whole family and friends of years live in my born country. Yes. It's been hard, sad, and painful be here by myself. And yes sometimes I thought I was an outsider as well. However, when I feel deeply sadly I raise my hands and worship Abba, and I feel peace and company. Other times I dance in my bedroom with Him and I can feel His love in a warm hug. Surrendering my doubts, hurts, and pain help me to overcome loneliness. ❤
My sister. A church family and community is a good prayer to have. In this lockdown I have faced the deepest depression and loneliness. Out if that I have gained stronger faith in God, joined 2 bible study groups 1 via zoom,1 conference call also I have a single sister in christ who is walking this journey with me we talk cry laugh scream regularly. God has challenged us loads but that has not stopped us. After lockdown I want to join a wonderful church. It's my dream to create a safe space in my home where I pray..counsel chat to like minded people. God is real he hasn't forgotten us..just need to keep seeking him. I am 53 single no kids. Ever hopeful for love and christ

I've spent my life taking care of everyone else. Now, I'm fifty five, divorced three years and am experiencing the loneliest time in my life. Yes, Covid made it worse and I thought I'd be better prepared than most but I was mistaken. Being completely alone is not healthy in any way for anyone.... I don't care what they tell you.
It really isn't good for us to be alone. Is there some online way you can find more support? I also struggle but try to take one day at a time and allow my self to grieve, cry, pray, take good care of me and then I've lately started to allow my self to really think about what I dream of (either a good man ever cross my ways or not) and I've realized I need to allow my self to be more creative (it morphs the pain into life and joy) and to work on healing wounds in me and learn how to actually love my self more. Either way I relate and send prayers your way and much love. ❤🙏
I am in a similar situation. Trust me God has your best interest at heart and He will grant your heart’s desire when you are ready.
Am lonely & depressed & I never actually had a "real man" in my life & being 32 yrs of age, without a man or kids & makes me feel deep loneliness despite,having my family members being around me. ):

Im knocking on 35 never married no kids it does get lonely personally i worry at times if i will be alone no children but i hold on to my faith i believe you will be okay the lord will send you a great companion in his own timing
Better take long than marry wrong iwas married at 35 he was a cheater, abuser narcissist.. Just got my divorce in January and I would tell you trust yahweh he knows better don't rush nothing
You can be married and still be very lonely.
God will send you someone ,be productive in your singleness focus on what he wants you to do God's is saying he thinks you're so valuable he won't just send anyone your way you're his daughter so when he does send someone your way pray on it because Jesus won't send any less but his best ..

I have been single for 23 plus years. My children are all grown and I have experienced loneliness on so many occasions. I have been a believer since age 13. I pray for a few godly good friends.
It’d be nice to be friends, I have been a believer since I was 8 and gone through seasons of loneliness too... we’re one big family.

Tracy Yokoi I am glad Lisa was so open and honest about the reality of being single. So many times especially at church you just don’t fit the mold. You either too young or too old for certain groups. It’s nice to have a common ground. She keeps a sense of humor. Thank you for your response.
Hey dear sister. I'm also single, never married, no kids. Living abroad while not having my family around me. Cause they live in my home country. Some days can feel really lonely. The only things keeping me sane are constant prayer and reading the Scriptures. Sending love your way💕

Saved, Single and Lonely. I'm 80 and making each day depending on the Lord to get me ready for each day. Still fighting but getting tired. My strength is weakened. These lockouts is getting to me but the Joy of the Lord surrounds me. 🙏✝️

My honest opinion is that The Church doesn't know what to do with single people. They dont mean to be exclusive, but systematically, the programs and settings are just that. I can only hope in the future The Church can be more inclusive. If anything most married women will be quick to point out what you might be doing wrong, that's why God has not released a husband. The truth no one knows why other people remain unmarried for longer, or never get married.

Yes! I was too and was not looking for a husband but God surprised me with a great one! We have to be whole in a Jesus before we can be a half in a marriage or relationship.

Well I have to agree Sister in Christ. I was in a marriage with a sex addict who went to jail for domestic violence then left me for another woman. A so called Christian man and I gotta say I feel really blessed. I am not against what God wants for me but I am okay on his clock and his presence if mighty fine company!!!!
DeeDee, then God have that as a GIFT to you, bit not everyone had that GIFT! Church folk tells people like mer that have been single all my life (I am pushing 50) that I "must have the gift of singleness, but the REALITY is that I have been FORCED onto mens groups and all that had done is cause me to have to fight off homosexual feelings with being tempted to make a pass at one of the dudes in church! It had ALSO caused me to keep HOOKERS employed...but do you really think I am going to be honest about that one with "accountability?" HA! Give me a break. Accountability only works because it is based off of thin king that others are going to be honest and I guarantee you that no one in a church is going to admit to seeing hookers due to the shame and stigma that is put on it.

😢💔 the stupid thing in all of this is that so many of the married people struggle too underneath the 'nice surface'.. a lot of them are feeling lonley in their marriage.. there just needs to be so much more HONESTY and shared vulnerability in church.
So true. Church can be the loneliness place and make you feel left out. I am a widow and I am currently not attending because I feel like there is a big spotlight on me yelling “you don’t fit”. I think the hardest experience was on Easter when they called for families to come up and take communion together. I have no family that attends this church so I almost did not attend after they posted the plan on Facebook. Thankfully, an acquaintance who was also alone took me by the hand and we went together. I survived but it was hard.

I understand totally how you feel. As I am single. Widowed almost 7 years. I do have children but the church doesn't have an avid outreach for single/widows. Honestly, sometimes I don't go to church because looking at couples with their kids or seeing a husband with their wife makes me bitter.
@@rinaecotton1364 doesn’t make me bitter; just emotional and want to cry…not just want to…. I actually do cry. I found it especially hard to attend where our couple friends are.
Yes I can identify with that. Many years ago, I went to a neighbourhood church, because they seemed to have a vibrant young teens programme and also a group called P.O.T,S (Parents of teenagers) so I thought, cool, as a single parent, perhaps I can get some support and meet some friends. Well, they had a gettogether, one Friday evening, and I took my home made cooked beetroot, whilst the other moms, opened these fancy containers of prepared Woolworths salads and expensive snacks. Then before we ate, the leader / host said, :All the husbands come and stand behind your wives" well,...what was I to do, I had no husband and felt very alone and 'different'. Also, the Youth Leader had taken the kids to an expensive snack bar to have milkshakes etc, I was not told, so my son did;nt have money with him, and the shame that I felt because this Youth Leader had to pay for his milkshake. I said "Never again!"!!

I can always tell singles by the joy they have on their faces. We really dont have a lot of the struggles of marriage and family life. Wish we werent marginalised in the church tho.
Struggles of marriage??? The bible says that it is NOT GOOD for man to be alone...That mens that marriage is designed to NOT have struggles, you just have to go about finding the right mate GODS WAY, but we have not done that due to man made inventions. I.E. Dating!
@@saxmanjpr5092 finding the right mate is a key factor. Biblical men can’t be happy with a Jezebel/feminist woman; biblical ladies will never be happy with a worldly or overbearing man. Both people have to be equally yoked with similar spiritual maturity levels. A biblical lady (masterpiece) deserves a biblical man.

I can not tell you how many time I have seen that take place and those men do not tell the group leader what they are really doing, "Monday - Saturday night." I have also SEEN cases when God allowed a "Jezebel" woman into a mans life and then told him that he would used that man to save her life and ONE DAY ill be married! My Dad was married to one and she deceived him less that FIVE MINUTES after she said, "I do!" Read Genesis 27 to find out what kind of (step) "Mother" I had after my natural mom was MURDERED when I was an infant with the church telling my Dad that he should have given ME up for ADOPTION instead the Gods people who claim that the "love Jesus so much," IGNORED a SINLE FATHER! Abibical man (masterpiece) also deserves a biblical lady! What's with the double standard of not talking about both sides of the equation? You know, Hosea was told in Hosea 1:2 that he would marry a HOOKER! Using critical thinking, don't you think that he was a "John" and did not "cast his petals before swine?" Think about it! If YOU were seeing HOOKERS, I highly doubt you would write that in a book for the entire planer to read throughout the generations! I must ask, What happened in Hosea's life that would have caused that? Possibly a sexually abusive parent of the opposite gender than he was? @@saxmanjpr5092 I agree dating is a man made thing. It does go both ways of course. Overbearing people are very harmful to a health relationship. I agree most of the churches are backwards. I used to visit a messianic church where the pastor would stay men should only greet men, and women greet women. I think many church leaders are afraid to allow men and women together for liability issues, just like why some men (especially pastors) refuse to meet with women alone. The whole macho thing with guys is a only a facade, they are really insecure.

Wow, talk about, "stumbling onto something". I had no idea how much I needed this, but I sure did. I'm 48 single never been married and I have no children, well except for my fur babies. Lisa I’m sitting here feeling do I release the tears or rest in the peace of the spoken truth. I’ve been single 20 years praying for a Bonafide Godly man. So Jesus showed up to fill that role. He is the best husband. In this season, I’m still believing for you and me to find our Godly Husbands and become couples in ministry. Thank you for speaking to me today. I truly feel like God has called me to stay single- For now anyway. And I am SO grateful for the PEACE I feel with where I am at. I do not even WANT a relationship. Or anything to do with one. But I am NOT bitter or lonely or sad. And I have been single for years now. I am using this time to get closer to God and actually learn the Word and as much as I can about the Bible (which I have never done). Thank you so much for your message❤
I am the same I actually have an amazing Christian man who I adore who is my best friend. He is always there for me but I really do not want anything else. I love living alone. If that means I don't fit in the "Church".... fine. I fit with Jesus! (And we are called to take Jesus to the world. When the world is SO diversified now, if we stick to the "married" culture and that is all we know how to relate to, we will turn away a lot of people in the world. If Jesus could relate to anyone, even tax collectors and "sinners", if we don't, then we are letting Him down badly!!)

@@claudiacanales2662 I wish I had the answer. That is why i say i thank God for this peace, because it could have only come from Him. I did have a few years of tremendous pain. I called out to God and begged him to take this pain away. And slowly, but surely, it subsided. With no bitterness for my ex, and no real feelings of "missing out" while single. Being a single Mom of 3 probably contributes to me wanting to remain single, because I dont want them to see me with men coming in and out if my life. But before, I still had men I saw occasionally on days I did not have my kids. Mostly for attention and sex. God has completely taken that desire away from me and I am so grateful. I am not opposed to a committed, Christian partner, but I will know when the time is right and now is not that time for me. Praying for peace and happiness for you!
@Julie G thank you for sharing and your honesty. I’m in that pain stage now. It’s such deep pain. It’s heightened by the pandemic. Heightened when I see happy families and wonder why I wasn’t good enough for having one. Why others received that happiness and I didn’t. Wonder why I wasn’t “chosen” as Lisa Harper mentioned. That’s amazing that you are in that positive peaceful space now. Gives me some hope.
@@claudiacanales2662 I pray that you realize that you are MORE than "good enough". Gods plan does not make sense to us a lot of the time. But I truly pray for peace and also true happiness for you! We just keep working on ourselves and self love. Everyday. And when the time is right, if it is what you truly desire, love will find you. I do believe that. ❤❤❤

@@deltapeach5912 there is so much to live for my dear, there is a solution you have that no one else has. Find someone to share with, church a support group, friend etc don't give up. Jesus Christ didn't give up on you.

This is a great podcast. I'm 38 and single, never married , no children. I agree sometimes church can forget about single people as they are mainly geared towards families . However , in this current season my focus has always been that whatever my marital status .. single.or married ..it will be to give Glory to God and it's for His glory alone. Of course I feel the pain humanly speaking of loneliness and singleness, however , if I can give God more glory through being single than being married ..so be it.
I also learnt that due to my flexibility (no responsibility of kids and hubby) I can fill a ministry void that others cannot. I often can offer support to families through offering babysitting services to give couples their date nights, I can offer other ways to help.. it's about making opportunities for Christ. It's an important thing and I make a difference. Now it might be that one day I'll get married but ..who knows..for now I'm happy giving God the glory and He understands my tears on the days when being single hurts a little.

@@TheLightFM currently, I'm serving overseas, and I have been doing 11+ years. I've never been married or had children, but I'm a teacher, so I make sure to invest in students. What stood out the most was the honesty of singleness and how you just gave a reminder of His faithfulness to us.

It is true that feeling and being treated differently is real. People who love and care about you and maybe strangers may be unaware of their behaviors. I'm 63 and haven't become a bride to a Christian man. I ask God to help me forgive a lady who asked me if I was gay because I was in my 40's and never married. I thank God for giving me strength to live single. Some singles have to shovel snow, scrape ice off the car, etc. Generally, singles ate no whooses. I'm thankful to be able to do those things. I lived in shame, in pain, with so many scars. When the Holy Spirit was taking off all of the impurities in my heart and in my soul (He's not done with me yet!!) Thank you Lisa, I have felt that abandonment and seclusion the last 18 moths since my husband left me, I do feel lonliness and shame, as I ask myself what did I do to deserve this, but in my heart as a daughter of the Lord, I did nothing. I believe God removed him because God new, what he was doing and heard the things that he was saying so he took him far away in 3 days, gone. But in my flesh I still feel the desertion and the shame, especially as he left to go and and live with a friend of mine in another state, that he had been having an affair with, before she moved away. It's been a terrible season for me but like you said every morning is new and God has really shone me some things in my singleness that I probably never would have seen if I were not in this situation, and my relationship, my trust and my faith lie solely in my Savior, Jesus. You are not alone. My husband left me too. I too I’m struggling with abandonment and shame but I know God is good and hold to God’s promises like Jeremiah 29:11 Fry know the plans I have for you plans to prosper and not to harm plans for a future and a hope. Trusting God is so important and not to rely on your feelings to give it to God for he cares so much about us. He will deliver us through this.

Besides, even if I won't have this prayer answered, I will pray grace and contentment. I didn't ask to be single, it just happened. For now, God, faith, humor, music, pets and friends pull me through. Without them I would've commited suicide long ago.

Don’t worry in Gods timing it will be just trust in him. If you don’t end up having a child of your own the lord probably has another plan for you where you will mother another child who doesn’t have a mom or something great I don’t know just trust in him and do not worry. Just wanted to offer a friendly word of caution.
Not every woman has a child because they "had" a man. Sometimes it's rape. Sometimes it's adoption. Sometimes the woman was simply "used."
And, without knowing the details of someone else's story, please be cautious about assuming that a difference of current circumstances means their pain was less than yours. Whether or not it was intended, the "at least you" statement implies that someone you don't really know had it better off than you.... At which point the only options are to let themselves feel patronized or drag up their deepest pains as evidence before someone who really doesn't have a right to be a judge of their pain.
"At least you," statements, especially made to people we don't know really well, can often be unintentionally harmful.
Not saying that was the case this time, I can't speak for someone else, just suggesting it might be best to be a bit more cautious next time.

Thank you. I have been married more than once and regardless when I have been going to a church...Sunday and Wednesday and still always felt it is because I am alone. When married the lady 18 years. He went to church a few times and it felt different. On July 2nd my husband left for work and about 9am sent a text message to be saying he was not happy with me and leaving. 18 years and I get a text. Here I am.56 and alone again. COVID-19 alone. Locked up in my house alone. Working from home. The only time I speak with another person is on a zoom meeting for work. Thank you for the prayer. I know I am not alone.

I am 26 and male, and I identify a lot with what Lisa shares about not fitting in, struggling to see God as a loving father, and viewing ourselves in light of Scripture. CZcams recommended her to me and I truly value her insight and message... Thank God for this amazing woman.
I’m 55 and never found the right man. Part of it is because people think I’m unattractive, I think I’m cute but nobody else does. Another part is because I’m heavyset and we are so focused on appearance. I’m not Christian but I really appreciated what she said about how religious communities exclude singles. In my religion it happens as well and people do have negative feelings and opinions about someone who never married. ‘Something must be wrong with a person who couldn’t get it together enough to find a mate’ or ‘what a loser’ are all thoughts that people have. I get pretty lonely but I also have moments where I recognize how freeing it is to be alone; I don’t have to stop and think about someone else as I go through my day I can just do what I want. So thank you for posting this.

I wonder sometime if google and CZcams knows my status. I get this kind of suggestions for a couple of times. I am a Christian for 9 years. Dated a lot of guys Christian/non-Christian. I am 34 years old. I have 13 year-old daughter but not married and away from her because she's in my home country. Been here in Singapore for 5 years to sustain her.
It's hard to live alone in a foreign land. I have a community church here as well with lot's of Single women. I have seasons of being lonely. Idk how to gather myself at times that i always ended up compromising God's command. I am sometimes become desperate, feeling lonely and unwanted and isolated. No matter how affirm myself to it's only an enemy's tactics to play me or destruct me to focus on JESUS. It's hard to deal and process singleness. This message brought so much joy to me and uplifted my spirit. Thank you LORD JESUS that i/we belong to you.
Lisa, thank you so much. I’m single now for about 6 yrs. I was married for 35 yrs then through a divorce. I’m alone, but not alone. I truly have felt the Love of God through this loneliness. Only married one time. Just living for the first time. I’m good. But fitting in at church is difficult.

Greetings from 🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬I have purposefully kept men and relationships away and just clung to the confines of my family because of the shame of not having gotten a university degree. I have carried the spirit of just abject failure, like I’m not whole or normal. I am 33 years old now and I realized I have been carrying shame for 14 years 😰 and it's only these past two years that God has revealed my purpose and I am finally starting to let this shame go. First and foremost I am God's daughter period. I am not His daughter because I have an undergrad degree. Recognize the shame my sisters and let it go! I was married for 15 years up until 2015. I know what it was like to be married to a man who struggled with addiction’s and his self-worth. The Lord taught me through my marriage how to love someone who doesn’t love me back. But now that I’ve been single for the past five years I’ve grown even more because the Lord is showing me how to trust again, restoring my self-worth, and teaching me how he is my husband. In the season I have learned to rejoice in the opportunities to serve the Lord fully without distraction. This isn’t always easy as sometimes I feel lonely. But I always feel the Lord‘s presence comfort me and continue to heal me.

hey do you need to make a point that you are a single mom? So what?! My Dad was a single father and received absolutely no help to raiser me. If fact, the church told him that he should have given me up for adoption and he refused to do it!
Someone here really touched on it when she said singleness can be a struggle between loneliness and self-sufficiency. My thoughts are that we should start Christian singles groups where there are none. Everyone needs fun, love, support, and belonging for good mental health. There's always going to be those who would use the group for devouring and not for the support it's intended for. God bless you all and may we each find completion in Jesus only. Amen

I’m sure Lisa that I’m not the first nor will I be the last person that wishes you were my friend! I have to share a breakthrough I got last night after listening to one of your videos...something you said triggered a question in me about my odd way of worship( I can’t carry a tune) so when I enter into worship My body just seems to express what my voice lacks, and I was thinking, I wonder if I was even right to be so different in this expression and so unexpectantly I heard,felt, the Lord say “ I love it when you worship me the way you do” I can’t really explain the feeling of love that filled my being for a few minutes but it was something I will never forget.
I love how you talk about your "carb" addiction in other shows I've seen you, i grew up a big child and ever since i can remember I've always been trying to lose weight, yo yo dieting, fear of gaining weight, being ugly and unattractive... Writing this, i finally see the need to go for therapy, i just don't know where to start. I want to love myself, and understand the love of God for me so much that "not being loved" by "a man" doesn't bother me.

I was married...but it didn't work out due to infidelity and other issues..God really broke me in a good way..it was so painful...here I am 15 years single.
At first it was very difficult raising a son...but God showed me in many ways it's okay to be single...God showed me he was my husband and provider he loved on me and still does...now I am not sure if I ever want to be married..yes it can get lonely..but overall God has been showing me what a blessing it is to spend time with him...I am still growing in the Lord.

I was booted out of my church when my relationship ended within a week 🤣🤣🤣 I am saddened by this but found a church online to belong to in the meantime. The Lord will sustain me and comfort me during this season and bring about better times. I will wait for my Boaz and if he never comes, my Jesus is enough. Blessings to you all and may the Great I Am send us all a Believer for a companion even if it just a friend. 💙😊💪🏾
I encourage you to follow the pattern of betroths to find your Boaz. That is, to find out what it is that God ants YOU to do in order to prepare for a relationship. Foe me, it is by going to school to get a degree so that I dont have to flip burgers for the rest of my life. God reveled to me in a dream who my wife will be one day IF I go to school, even if it takes me 10 years to complete as my Dad always wanted me to do. (I never knew my mom) but my Dad came to me in a dream after he died and told me, Dont worry, WE"VE got 'Jane' for you." AND I learned ho to interpret may dreams and my MOMs name came up in an interpretation and that took place before my dad died...so she as behind all of this. One sorry about going to church (Colossians 2:16 says that it is not nessisasry to observe the Sabbath) Just focus on that Jesus wants you to do, and your "Boaz" WILL be revealed to you.

I know this video is 2 years old, but I just found it. I'm so glad I did. This topic needs to be discussed more. I am not interested in getting married. At church and work, I often feel marginalized because society pushes marriage and children. I do not experience loneliness or longing for companionship. I don't fully understand the whole "biological ticking clock" stuff because I never felt the call to motherhood/wifedom. Society wants people to believe the desire for marriage and children innate, but it's not. I'm living proof it's not. And maybe the thought of society being a manageable number, instead of the over-populated herd we are, scares people. I mean "safety in numbers" is drilled into us throughout childhood.
