In memory of my grandfather Albert Atherton who marched out with the 11th battalion of the Southern Lancashire Regiment(St.Helens Pals) from the town centre 100 years ago.
This is beautiful Martin!.....all those brave young men lost....so very sad.....we must never forget....my grandfather was also damaged by mustard gas....and died young because of it.....hope the 'men that send other men to war' can live with their conscience.....
Thank you Chris.. and yes we should not forget so we can remind people of the madness of it all. I hope, one day in the future, mankind moves beyond war, but has a day an international day of mourning to remember the cruelty we inflicted upon each other.
