- Yall seemed to like the last sonic fandub I did, so I decided to do something a little bit longer, as suggested by one of the comments in the previous dub. Enjoy :)

What I love is how there is this subtle addition to Metal Sonic in that he sought out Eggman. Sure, his program seeks battle, but the IDW series seems to suggest (now this is my speculative opinion) that Metal actually cares about Eggman, and sees him as its parent. With that feeling being on some level reciprocated from the Doc, to Metal.
Just because Metal lost his ability to speak when he lost his Neo form doesn't mean his purpose lost too. Sonic was a dumbbell to have Tails reactivate him, let him go free. -_-
You can't say Metal Sonic without Metal Son
No way Metal "loves" Eggman, the 2 instances he transformed into Neo he always betrayed him and tried to be an Overlord on his own, they could have made him more of a threat and make the final battle the best the comics had to offer, like Super Sonic Super Shadow and Super Silver taking on a Super Neo Metal Overlord, or perhaps Super Knuckles and Super sonic but Knucklws cant turn Super for whatever reason
@@localdude2979 He was trying to FIND Eggman the second time! Also, this comic has plenty to offer! Still, it could do better in the department of Sonic himself.
@@videogollumer yeah, the comic is decent but is far from being awesome, it peaked on the Super Neo Metal Sonic Arc where the author himself said on a tweeter post he based the Knuckles and Sonic battle in Sonic 3 & Knuckles where Mecha Sonic turns Super using the master emerald AND he also took inspiration from Super Mario Bros Z "Brawl on a Banishing Island" hence the tittle of the chapters where they fight
They need to get this man to write dialogue for the actual games. Only time sonic has sounded like he has a shred of dignity
He's the writer of the next sonic game.
@@shock019 | That's... actually fantastic to hear! I have only passing interest in the Sonic franchise, but it's good to hear they're actually trying tocreate a compelling narrative this time, considering that's supposedly what Sonic Team has been trying to do with Sonic since his jump to 3D.
@@PotatoPatatoVonSpudsworth to be fair, it started back in Sonic 3&K. But for obvious reasons, it wasnt on the level of the Dreamcast and the future
Sonic became so bland since colors
@@graftongazaway5633 for me it was since riders.
This comic series is absolutely amazing. Ian Flynn has such an amazing understanding of these characters, its a shame Sega won't give him any work on the mainline games.
boy do i have news for you
What I wouldn't give for a do-over where he'd be allowed to actually write Shadow the way he would actually be. He would have absolutely helped with the child race heist. All the pieces were there to get the team dark band back together and sega wouldn't allow it 😤
Well surprise surprise he’s working on the story for the next mainline sonic game sonic frontiers
@@dissonanceparadiddle Yeah, and he could write Sonic like he's supposed to be too. Write him as the sensitive, uplifting, free-spirit we all know and love; not as a insensitive, self-righteous, irresponsible jerk who only cares about what HE wants! Goodness, Sega! Do you WANT your main character to be an unlikable idiot?!
@@videogollumer all the corporate of Sega care about is money I mean you're talking about a company that's literally run by the Japanese Mafia, Yakuza.
The people that work for them care about the art and passion but the investors the bigwigs people at the top. It's just "money number go up" for them
I do love how casual Sonic can be whilst running, especially when he's running backwards.
I mean, he's never once gotten tired from just running in thirty years. Lol
could we talk about how Metal Sonic is entirely metal with no way to really show facial expressions, but always has more emotion than any other bot in the sonic universe. like how in the frame when Sonic calls him a one-note jerk, Metal seems surprised in some way, or when egg-man was explaining his software, using Metal Sonic as an arm rest, Metal's expression seems annoyed (quietly screaming "get off me!").
(this is my thoughts though)
You're absolutely right, but go look back at the panel when Metal swats Sonic's hand away after he offers Metal a chance at redemption. The bottoms of eye-lights are flattened in a way that suggest an utterly disgusted scowl. It seems like he's capable of emoting in instances like that, but admittedly, even when he doesn't do that, like in the scene where he's examining the liquid metal virus, he shows so much despite not really moving his expression at all.
@@SwerveStarEx I absolutely love how detailed Metal’s personality is in this comic. Makes him feel like an actual character instead of just another lifeless robot.
It seems that adding expression to a seemingly expressive character is all in the angle their viewed at, as well as through body language. They kind of do this with Alphonse in full metal alchemist as well.
In a way iy's a subtle reference to the ova where he does the same thing but actually speak 1 line for the first time "there is only one true sonic".
I wonder if he remembered that and was disgusted that sonic forgot?
@@lPsychoMax The OVA is a totally different canon, dude.
Sonic: You just had to go back to Eggman, didn't you?
Me: Well, Sonic, you should have thought of that before you had Metal Sonic repaired and released.
I wonder, how it’ll be explained in Sonic: Civil War...
@@algalax2 Me too.
@@mysteriousgirl9211 Me three! Personally, I want to see characters starting to lose faith in Sonic. Seriously, do you think Blaze would still believe all that stuff she said about Sonic being a "paragon" had she known that RIGHT AFTER he left her dimension, he let Eggman get off Scot-free after he creating a lethal virus that almost killed everyone on Sonic's world?!!!
@@videogollumer I highly doubt it.
@@mysteriousgirl9211 Personally, I see Sonic being "inspirational" just by showing up to be kinda moot at this point, considering that he has over a dozen friends who are just as capable as him.
This is the time Robotnik won. He couldn’t actually defeat Sonic but he could give him doubt and he did. It was glorious.
If sonic was about 1 second slower... at all, eggman would have won and died cause of Mz-Froggy
The last 2 lines are actually a really good reference to sonic and eggman’s relationship in adventure 2, its for only the second time that eggman used his robotics for good and in the end he returns to his spot as the villain though just like how he used mindgames to trick tails into disclosing the truth about the fake chaos emerald in adventure 2, he does the same to sonic by asking a question he knows will get under his skin to get him to start sweating under pressure.
To summarise, Ian Flynn did eggman’s character the justice pontac and graff never did
*cough cough cough* Lost World!
I can't believe Ian Flynn made Sonic having robo-AIDS interesting.
why
Six issues later: Sonic just stands there while Eggman flies away in his Eggmobile, STILL thinking Eggman MAY come around eventually. -_-
Oh Sonic how Naive he is 😒
@@meheecan123 his still a teen.
@@meheecan123 To be completely fair to Sonic, how many of his friends were former enemies? Knuckles, Shadow, Silver, Blaze...all wanted to wipe out Sonic for one reason or another.
@@MisterFiasco How dare you lump any of them in the same basket as Eggman! Knuckles, Silver, and Blaze were never evil to begin with; each were honorably trying to protect something very important to them and to the safety of others! Knuckles is the guardian of the Master Emerald, Silver the guardian of his future, and Blaze the guardian of the Sol Emeralds and her Kingdom! Even Shadow was only doing what he did because he thought it was what Maria wanted because Gerald Robotnik "programmed" him that way! They were going up against Sonic because of misunderstandings, and they're motives were for the sake of others! Eggman has done everything HE has done for his ugly, egotistical, selfish self! He's motivated by a ego-centrism and a sick, twisted robot fetish! If you think this is the same case as with Sonic's rivals, you're of your rocker! Sonic's rivals have a sense of honor, even when up against Sonic! Eggman abandoned what little honor he had a decade ago, and his humanity by extension!
@@videogollumer And how dare you come so hotly at me for a comment that wasn’t even directed at you! You can talk about honor and good reasons all you want, and yes they were never evil (wasn’t my point in the first damn place) but it doesn’t change the fact that most tried to kill Sonic (Knuckles admittedly spent most of his time being a petty troll that only went for actual combat when Sonic got close to the Master Emerald’s chamber). Silver made multiple attempts on Sonic’s life but outside interference saved him twice. Shadow gets one better, threatening the entirety of the Earth (something even Eggman shies away from more oft than not).
Also, they weren’t being lumped into the same basket of Eggman, but they all HAVE gone up against Sonic with intent to kill. My point is Sonic decided not to hold a grudge and to extend to olive branch. To even quote the comic: “After all, is Eggman can’t be forgiven, can you?”
Does this excuse Eggman for his atrocities? Absolutely not. After thirty years of plotting his schemes wherever he goes, he likely deserves what’s coming to him. But “Mr. Tinker” suffered a grim fate being forced back into his “Eggman” persona. Although it wasn’t meant to be (there must always be a Robotnik to fight Sonic) everything was better and he was happy. One of his last words before being subjected to hypnotherapy was “I don’t want to be Eggman!” Don’t forget, he was primed to not only have a second chance, but use it to finally do some good. But Starline robbed him of that chance.
Honestly the metal virus is the first sonic comic im reading and i love how well Ian Flinn portrays these characters and the pacing of their cominication? *chefs kiss* the art is simply amazing too! As an artist i love how they framed each pannel and how expressive each character is. I love metals expressions the most tho
Only glaring issue I had was shadow a bit. But with how writers have to fight Sega on how to handle his character now-a-days. I can overlook it.
Though apart from that I loved the whole arc😂
Mister Tinker was a kindhearted person, but Dr. Eggman is just despicable!
Agreed.
@@mysteriousgirl9211 He might not be gone completely. Consider what Sonic and gang found in the recent story arc.
@@lazlow8788 Nah, he's gone; he wasn't really real to begin with. He was basically Eggman brainwashed into being good; he practically didn't have any freewill.
@@videogollumer I meant a part of him is in little miss Tinker. His daughter.
@@lazlow8788 Dead, that part is dead; Eggman annihilated it.
This is the Eggman we want, menacing evil genius who is not only proficient in mechanics but also psychological warfare. Not the joke we see in the games nowadays
True, but it came at the price of Mr. Tinker's life.

EDIT: I did a dub with updated voice work for a portion of IDW#23. You can watch that here: czcams.com/video/oLGTnI8WdKY/video.html
Thanks for watching again!
Okay, I guess this is going into people's recommended again. Welcome to my channel. I do voice acting stuff and this video was an extremely rushed request and recorded in one night with weird pitch shifting based on voices I planned on doing for a Sonic fangame. I was doing my best to emulate Mike Pollock for this Eggman voice and the Sonic voice was supposed to be a mix between something more modern mixed with Jaleel White. This was sort of me testing the waters with the voices thus how rushed and harsh they sound.
Thanks for watching!
'hello there'
This was rushed? o.o
@@Elris4 It was probably finished within in an hour
Egg man's voice could definitely be a little bit more different. He sounds too deep and gargly. Perfect for maybe Vector. But that may just be me.
Other than that, I actually enjoyed hearing this, for the first time watching your channel in particular. Keep up your good work!
@@benjaminbiessener4301 Actually not the first time someone said that'd it'd fit vector. I don't disagree at all!
"This should improve stability!" _Video immediately starts buffering_
The timing made me chuckle.
When I read this storyline I alway have the sonic x english voice actor in my head when sonic talk to anyone and alway current eggman voice as well
Not wrong they're definitely my favorite voices for both characters
I always have SA Knuckles voice and I prefer the other characters having their current voices
They're the same actor! Sonic X Eggman and Current Eggman
@@NBeeMC Mike pollock.
Flynn knows just how to write these characters. This comic is my favorite piece of Sonic media that isn’t the games.
Same!
I’d love to see a comic where Eggman just lives peacefully and his robots like use farms and do other tasks for him
And he's called 'Eggman' because he owns the biggest chicken farm company in the world?
I like how sonic and Eggman have a total conversation and no matter metal sonics expression in this. It’s always >:(
I saw Metal's eye at this part 0:27
Do you think that Metal understood what he meant?
Wow well this is a surprise! Was looking up metal sonic comic dubs and find the TC2 brute's voice actor doing one, neat! Great dub btw and was that you doing the sonic voice?
Yes
Ive always loved Metal Sonic, but I just feel like he never got the character development he deserves (In the games anyways) as do most robot characters in Sonic.

_[WHAT IN THE WORLD DID YOU EXPECT, MY LOATHSOME COPY? DIDN'T YOU HEAR ME CLEARLY SAYING "LORD EGGMAN REMOVED THE REBELLIOUSNESS FROM MY CODE"?]_
Honestly I felt like that only in Neo form.
You know I think the relationship between eggman and sonic Is more interesting than Batman and Joker, or Superman and Lex Luther.
They have a unique back and forth between them.
I never knew eggman with the brute's voice is something I needed in my life
“His software demands conquest and Power"
The Scrapniks, & Gamma: Are we a joke to you
Eggman VA interpretation sounds just a “little” guttural… but outside that, great work
TC2 Brute moment
Love this interaction so much, The characterization of these three here is on point.
"What good is there in being good, if its only a constant lie?"
Meanwhile, Eggman threating him like a son in comics and mania adventures
Guys, face it
Sonic is too pure of heart to finish Robotnik, even at his lowest.
Im more pissed IDW STILL wont negotiate with SEGA of Europe to use the Freedom Fighters.
They are, without question, the absolute BEST chance the Sonic Franchise has to become a legitament force of comedic/dramatic entertainment.
Archies legacy must NOT be in vain
I especially liked the Egg Bosses they were really some interesting characters and I loved how most of them had some of motivation into serving him whether it was out of fear, genuine loyalty or just a means to an end sucks we didn't see them in Unleashed
Good thing Movie Sonic isn't afraid to do that if it means protecting his family
@@edsonsengo2684 Too bad Robotnik is just as plot-armored as him XD
He still could have put the kibosh on Metal Sonic, though; in fact, if he did, Mr. Tinker might never have become Eggman again.
Who tf cares about the freedom fighters lol.

I'm glad you enjoyed. Personally I don't have any investment in the comics as both of the ones I did were by request, but I did manage to read a good portion of it online. Pretty good stuff. I think there is another fandub out there thats more complete
SatAM Sonic: Obnoxious jerk
Archie Sonic: Narcissistic jerk
Adventures Of Sonic: Mischievous but overall well-meaning
Sonic X: Okay but bland
Fleetway Sonic: *PURE EVIL*
IDW: Self-righteous and quick to shift blame and a bit idiotic
Underground Sonic: Meh but okay
OVA: Perfect Sonic
Movie Sonic: Fun and a bit hyper
Fleetway Sonic is pretty rude but actually becomes nicer in the later comics.
Prime Sonic: Video Game Sonic but with ADHD.
Boom Sonic: Tired of everyone's shit.
That’s Fleetway Super Sonic. There’s a difference
The reason metal sonic, at least in my opinion went back to Eggman is because he has nowhere else to go. He knows that Eggman will except him back, so where else would he go?
This whole thing feels like a reference to something else, i just can't put my finger on it.
Hey this is pretty good , loving it
There was a theory that metal was actually sonic from another timeline, one where he lost to eggman and was turned into a robot.
I wonder what small shred of that sonic would think of all this if it was real?
Seeing the other sonic slowly turn into a robot by the same guy who enslaved you?
This is pretty good
Medal is adorable in this wtf
I'd love if the metal virus saga made it into a game. This story was sooooooo good
The guy voicing Eggman would make an excellent Vector. The guy voicing Sonic may not be entirely accurate, but its close enough to be an alternative take on the character, one I personally prefer indefinitely over the one we have for the official games today.
I did both voices! Sorry for late reply
Need a Lausanne, Eggman?
Eggman is literally the same guy who voiced Brute from Typical Colors 2.
Yes
Oh shit, Dr Eggman was tc2 brute the whole time
Eggman's voice makes me hungry for some reason
So metal sonic is a gamer? Noice
Tonight the part of Eggman will be played by Yoda doing a Cookie Monster impression.
He feels so serious but also kinda Eggmany
IN THE NOTEPAD-
fun fact: its gonna be 2030 when this comic hits issue 149
The sonic voice is passable but I don't think Eggman is your thing. It might have been beneficial to try and get a friend to do him. Good enough work though
This video is nearly 2 year old, I think both voices were not really good as it was done in just a few takes. I definitely think I have improved since then but I just haven't done any sonic content in a long while

What is the metal virus?
Egg Man sounds like Sam Eagle on Muppets
Eggman sounds like the grouch
I remember when Sonic and Silver were left
ok srsly how long did Mr. Tinkerer even last? Was he just written off due some kind of poll or vote where he was deemed too much suck for the comic's survivability?
Well apparently he was around for 6 months until Sonic found him.
Egg man sounds like Fozzie bear with a cold XD
He's a brute :))
Eggman
*voiced by tc2 brute*
Louie “Eggman” Armstrong
This is what eggman really is like, a cruel sadistic man that just makes people suffer for his benefits, he's smart and evil
Brute be like:
This is the same kind of weird logic and portal one and two where GLaDOS is just mad at you because you tried to kill her of course she was going to send you into a pit of fire which is something they always forget and make the protagonist forget,
also Eggman created the metal virus but SOMEHOW wants to take the moral High Road just like GLaDOS.
This reasoning is insane.
Sonic IS at fault. Releasing Metal out into the wild like he's some kind of gazelle instead of a dangerous fucking weapon that would stop at nothing to kill them all is SO GODDAMN STUPID I lack the proper words to put it together, I'd need to write an essay breaking it down, and how video game Sonic would never do this. Metal then finds his creator, who was still innocent Mr. Tinker and no one could restore his memories, until his greatest creation waltzes right into his arms and POOFS his amnesia away. Then Eggman is back and brings forth the worst apocalypse known on the planet. That never would've happened if IDW Sonic didn't have the annoying morale of a boy scout with a few screws loose.
@@callmeascendant Actually game Sonic has let Metal live before. Right at the end of Sonic Heroes he just tells Metal about if Metal wants a rematch Sonic will be waiting instead of just trashing and finishing Metal off for good. (and then Omega picked Metal up while glancing at Shadow but that never goes anywhere)
Beutiful
Finally a sonic comic that is not Archie
UK's Fleetway/Sonic the Comic would like word with you
Bruh eggman legit sounds like brute from typical colors
Because he is brute
I’m just asking why he’s running on a treadmill
Is that important to the plot of the comic
He has to keep running or else the virus will take control of him
If there was a comic that would destroy metal sonic completely I would read it
Dammit, Sonic, I’m sorry, but you you gotta kill the man or leave him to die somewhere. Eggman has done too much , and he’s gonna do a lot more if he isn’t dealt with.
And he will keep on dealing with him as long as he live.
Also honestly Sonic has left it to fate when Eggman plans blow up in his face.
Can someone explain wtf the sonic comic writers are smoking
Ayo TC2 brute???
Lol
Bruh
I wish Metal Sonic became a good guy then staying evil.
Blame that on Ian Flynn
IKR? I hate that in IDW they made him Eggman's super loyal little pet without a rebellious wire in his body and gave the "Good Sonic robot role" to Mecha Sonic. Like Mecha Sonic had like no personality when in comparison to Metal who has always had slight hints of a personality and potential to become good.
I miss Shard!

so like shadow?
We could say the same about Sonic.
@@videogollumer Unfortunately true.
Lets ride! Twisted you into a little knot. Gonna be honest guys, fire sucks.
Don’t get me wrong, I like the series, but Sonic’s whole „I want that everyone has the freedom to make their own decisions!“ followed by him being mad at Metal for making HIS own decision just kinda felt… disingenuous.
Who are these guys? They look similair to Sonic & Dr. Eggman but… something is very diffrent about them
They’ve grown and the world is changing in their series.
It not that they are “grown” it’s that… they are very diffrent characters. The Way they speak, Sonic apparently cares about morality and tries to do what’s right instead of What he thinks is right, Sonic’s sarcasm & quips are a bit more overplayed, not to mention Sonic’s Ego is now more about him being a little full of himself rather than his belief that he Can do anything, Sonic’s now more sentimental and he thinks of himself as a hero now, etc. And There’s no explanations to the changes, it’s just the writers not understanding the characters.
Of Course, someone like Eggman is a lesser offender of This case since he does have many of the traits to be an “Eggman” but he does have some moments where I go “… No… This isn’t right to me”.
This is not me complaning either, it just that Ian’s versions of the character doesn’t feel right like the characters from the games to me, and I didn’t say that I disliked Ian’s versions of the characters
@@themissingbits6375- expect they are Sonic has seen people he’s treated as enemy change or how many many of Eggman robots have a change of heart. Amy showed him that it was possible and he wanted to take a chance. Eggman man had a chance as Mr.tinker and he was happy and when he regained it he never denied that happiness he felt.
Metal has a choice but his hate for Sonic out weigh that choice so he went an because of Starline the “Sonic Cycle” restarted. It’s not that Sonic cares about more morality he just a opportunist and accepts the possibility of changes but he makes it a choice not a demand.
Eggman is who he is but shown what possibilities that he can bring if he wanted to just be a inventor. Sonic doesn’t want more heroes or villains just people living a life that doesn’t hurt people.
I fuking love Metal Sonic only when he is an actual villain, seeing him taking Sonic's trashtalk and by the side of Eggman as a side kick is alwful, he should act like Neo Metal or Mecha Sonic (from SMBZ) more often, because when he is Metal he acts plain lame and boring
Yeah when Metal goes Neo he's more dangerous than eggman himself.
Context is key. Metal can’t really talk at this moment, he honestly wouldn’t really need to either. Its not like he cares about sonics approval and he’s basically servicing eggman’s well being so he wouldn’t attack him either.
And I do not like Eggman what have he had done to this world by infecting with his metal virus!
Not bad, but I'm not quite feeling your Eggman.
