  • In this video I will be discussing what we have chosen to use for my 6 year old’s first grade curriculum for the 2022-2023 school year.
We will be discussing 1st grade Math, English (Grammer), Social Studies, Science, Spelling, Handwriting, and Bible, and we will be going over curriculum choices from The Good and the Beautiful, Accelerated Christian Education (ACE), All About Spelling, and Not Consumed Ministries.
I do want to note that just because these are the curriculums that we are using for our first grader this year, does not necessarily mean that they will be the right fit for your family. Every family has different dynamics and each child learns differently, so I would definitely encourage you to pray and research on your own to find out what the best curriculum for your child is. I do however hope that this video will give you some ideas of different curriculum that you might want to look further into for your child.
I hope this video is helpful to you!

I always enjoy watching your videos. I like the way you research things out and point out the pros and cons that you found for your family. I noticed you said you were praying for the best fit for your family. That is the best advice you can ask for and get. God bless you and your family as you serve him.

Thank you so much for your encouragement! I know that I definitely cannot do anything without God’s help, and so I try to remember to ask for His guidance. That is definitely the best advice I can give anyone who is looking into homeschooling. One of my favorite verses in the Bible is Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” ❤️

thanks for sharing your thoughts! i am thinking about adding ace english to our curriculum. i love that you don't have to buy the curriculum all at once, too.

We really enjoy using their English! (I personally did their English PACES all the way through my senior year.) Buying a little bit at a time has definitely helped our family when we are trying to watch how much we are spending on curriculum at the beginning of the year.

This is the first time I have seen a good, current review on ACE. I also grew up on ACE curriculum. My dad was an administrator for an ACE school. I have tried several different curriculums over the years having 2 graduates, 1 senior, 1 5th grader and 1 kindergartener. I have come back to ACE in most cases because of it's format and content. My kids have had the easiest time absorbing this curriculum with the exception of the math. I am trying The Good and The Beautiful math for the first time this year and am very excited. Thank you for your videos. I look forward to hearing more from you!

My mom was an administrator of an ACE school, too! I personally think a lot of ACE’s curriculum. I really love their phonics and reading program, and I believe that their English PACES are especially strong. - My son really loves using “The Good and the Beautiful” Math. It’s his favorite thing to do during our school day. I really hope it works well for your family!

WOW! This is impressive work! It helps the Emilee has such knowledge and first hand experience of the material and of it being executed. Emilee can be a true video mentor to any homeschool mother in or planning to be in those shoes some day.

How did these choices work for your family? Ace paces sound so interesting 🤔

They all worked well this year for our family. We actually ended up waiting on doing “All About Spelling.” This is only because after doing a couple of lessons we realized that our schedule was too full to fit it all in.
We definitely enjoyed ACE again this year! My son learned a lot (especially from their English paces). As my son gets older, I do plan to use a different Science curriculum just so he can have a little more hands-on learning approach for that particular subject. However, all of the ACE paces were especially great this year for helping with building his phonics and reading skills. They all involve the student reading a story or spelling words every day, which I could tell made a big difference. I plan to have 2 more videos out soon about this year’s curriculum and how it worked for us and a video on our curriculum choices for the next year to discuss it even more in more detail. 😊
