  • Baby Skipped Crawling | Why My Baby Never Crawled. This topic was a huge cause of stress for me but I finally came to peace with the fact that my baby never crawled on his knees and only started walking independently at 15 months. I share what I think I should have done differently in this video hoping this helps many other moms who are in the same situation.
    If you're baby is not crawling at 12 months or later and you are getting worried, this video is for you!

    Do you have any parenting regrets? It can be hard to admit that we're not perfect parents but I think it's important to share the reality of things, especially with new moms who might feel guilty about not being able to attain certain parenting ideals.

    I so relate to this! My baby skooted on her bum with her leg. I wish I had of know earlier (1st time mom) to get magnets for fridge (encourage standing/reaching) and getting toys for her to push (i.e. lawn mower for kids). It was explained to me that my little one wasn't motivated to walk because she was seeing the world fine and getting around fine. Thanks for sharing such an important topic that worries many parents!

      Yep! Babies don't come with a manual and even with all the info available online we still have no clue what to do in certain situations :) eventually all babies turn out fine.

    Thank you for sharing your story. It sounds similar to mine. My baby has acid reflux and his pediatrician told us to keep him up right for 30 minutes after feedings, but when they are a newborn their wake windows are only about 30-45 minutes, so we almost never were able to do tummy time. We tried to squeeze it in, but as soon as we laid him on his tummy he would spit up all of his milk. My baby is now 9 months and stuck in sitting still working on crawling and we are working with PT. Thank you again for sharing.

    Oh my gosh this has got to stop. You don't have to do tummy time. This is stressing parents out for no reason. I've read the papers on tummy time; they're crap. The most you can say is that tummy time correlates with earlier crawling, but that's it. It doesn't affect anything else developmentally, not fine motor skills, not other cognitive development, nothing. Yes, you need to put your baby in different positions from birth and not just lie them on their back all day or they could get flat head. Yes, you need to give your kid floor time and a chance to explore their environment and not just strap them into a pram all the time. But you *don't* have to put them on their tummy for ages every day if they hate it. Babies don't hate anything else that is developmentally necessary, in fact they love it. How did all the previous generations survive without tummy time? This obsession is ridiculous and is definitely going to be one of those things that the next generation will look back on and be like 'I can't believe they used to say that'.
    There is nothing wrong with skipping crawling so long as they're crossing the midline, and exploring their environment.
    I wish child health nurses would stop stressing parents out with this soon-to-be outdated crap. It's not based on good science.

      @TiidiiLivingwithSabrina  Před 2 lety

      I agree, my second child did not like tummy time either but there are things that I did other than tummy time that helped her a lot for example, helping her reach for toys by extending her arm, helping her from laying down to sitting up, and putting her in the crawling position little bits at a time

      Same thing with my baby boy. He just turned 11 months old today and is still not crawling yet. He army crawls, but when he tries to use his knees to crawl he straightens out his legs and grabs onto something to stand up because he wants to walk.
      This video did help me feel a whole lot better about my baby. I've been worried and stressing out everyday trying to get him to crawl.
      I still try to get him to crawl, but we're working on walking without me holding both his hands for assistance.

    • @TiidiiLivingwithSabrina
      @TiidiiLivingwithSabrina  Před 3 lety +7

      I thought it was very rare and that I was doing something wrong, the pressure from family members and friends made it worse "is he crawling yet? Why isn't he crawling yet? Have you tried this and that etc.". And of course as moms we put all the blame on ourselves. But it seems like there are so many babies who are just not interested in crawling no matter what we try and we have to look at the bigger picture and accept that they will get there at their own pace :)

      It’s hard when you get pressure from family and you feel like everything is your fault. Tell them some babies never crawl or crawl really late and it’s ok as long as she doesn’t have any particular health problem, crawling is not a necessary milestone, she will eventually walk and crawl on her own time.

I know it can be so stressful, especially when other babies get ahead and you start comparing yours to others or when you feel pressure from friends and family asking if they are crawling yet etc. But eventually they all learn how to walk and catch up! PS: my son is now almost 2 years old and he STILL refuses to crawl! He walks, runs, climbs, goes up and down stairs. He shuffles a bit on one knee sometimes but no crawling. Doctors haven’t found anything wrong with him and we did all the blood tests and physical exams imaginable 🤷🏻‍♀️
