  • Ciao! My name is Francesca. I'm an Italian knitter and I'm currently based in Italy, after a few years living (and knitting!) abroad.
    // AN ITALIAN BANDANA
An Italian Bandana is a little neck accessory that will keep you company regardless of the season. Knit it in a cozy yarn for the wintertime or in a fresh plant-based fiber for the summer.

Your Renunculus looked great on you, I'm so happy you decided to finish it. The Cindy Top also looked great.
I have knit two of your other patterns, and I love, loved them. They were so fun to knit. I will be casting this one on as well. Thank you so much for taking the time to write these patterns and share them with us.
Your Peacock Tee is so pretty I hope you will finish it. Do you think it is easier to make then the Renunculus?
    Congratulations on your new home.
    Take care

So great to catch up with you! I totally agree with you on the peach tank and creamy tee, not your “sparkle” colours. I had a tank, tee, and sweater that were “blah” on me, so I dyed them! It was not hard to do at all, and now I love them. I wasn’t wearing them anyway, so I had nothing to loose if they didn’t turn out. Here in Canada I used a product called Rit dye and also used their fixative to help keep the dye from fading. I did have my colours done a few month’s ago for fun and guidance, I am really happy I did. I used Carol Brailey online virtual service and she is amazing! (In case anyone is interested, she has a lot of you tube videos where you can see the before and afters) Looking forward to more episodes from you 💓

With the Top down sweater book, the guide says to put a wooden spoon or length of dowel in your armpit to ascertain your back width and to measure the depth of the armhole. The hummingbird beak is so long for a nectar eater. Our South Australian New Holland yellow/black honeyeaters' beaks arn't that long!

Hi Francesca, The peacock tee may need a scarf in some of that yarn and another yarn that would compliment your skin tone. Perhaps you can re-create the peacock pattern in a small neck scarf. It's a beautiful tee....enjoy wearing it.

My first ranunculus was a challenge too … never wore it because it was too big … but I decided to make mods also : I sized down a full needle size for body and ribbing and knitted the smallest size ! It actually worked and now I have another one on the needle lol it took me 2 years to even think of knitting it again but glad I did …

Love your Ranunculus. Shall take your advice and not do the increases before splitting for the sleeves. As I dont want an oversized garment. The Peacock tee is a lovely colour, you can wear it of an evening with a black pair of pants or skirt. As it has enough pattern to stand out on its own.

You look stunning in everything, I love all your pieces. If you are not in love with the colour of the peacock tee you could dye it over. Since it is so light in colour you have many options. Maybe you could do something really dark that wouldn't be joy to knit with?

Well done sticking with your Ranunculus, it was worth it but I am not ever going to make one! I think your Tank Top looks great on you, I have no idea why you don't like showing your arms they are great!! I can't wear cropped or tight fitted tops as I have a stoma bag (colostomy bag) which makes a bit of a bulge on my stomach but it,s fine I am 64 and I survived cancer so hey it's not a big problem!!

You said abandoned and I almost GASPED 🤣 I understand if you don't like the colour of your Peacock, I definitely think you could pull it off but if you don't feel comfortable then you just don't 🤷🏼‍♀️ maybe you can try dyeing it? 🤔
Also, the crochet method for the edge is exactly what I need!! Will look into that! My Lola top is stretching like crazy in the straps so maybe the crochet would help! 🙏
And got to say that the short rows in the back of your green summer raglan do really make it look so comfortable! Like you said - I love adding those to a cropped sweater for some extra coverage and it just makes it feel like it fits better 😊👌

Don't frog that peacock top . Just do duplicate stitch at the neck cast on edge in a colour that you do like and then on the cuffs and bottom cast off edge. I didn't think that colour washed you out on the podcast as much as you think. However, you must make use of hand knits. The little pop of colour in these places I mention might just work for you . Happy Knitting 💞

Hi Francesca, the Peacock tee is so nice... I'm stopping the video to comment. Have you think about dying it to make it to your taste?

Maybe you could dye the peacock tee into a colour you'll like better?

@ An Italian Knitter Podcast Hi Francesca I’m just going to start a Ranunculus. I love the look of yours. Did you use the smaller or wider collar? I don’t want it to be too loose.

Have you considered leaving your skirt length above the knee? It looks very good on you.

I like your Peacock tee. The stitch pattern is lovely. I like the color on you, but why not finish it and dye it in a rust color?

You should finish the peacock and maybe you could overdye it?

I like your ranunculus!👌 🌟What needle size did you use for ribbing and for body?

Had to look at my Ravelry page www.ravelry.com/projects/anitalianknitter/ranunculus as I have a bad memory 😅 Apparently US 8 (5mm) for the ribbing and US 10.5 (6.5mm) for the body

Love the bandana, Francesca! While listening to you I dived into my stash and found a lonely single ball of KFO Pure Silk just waiting for the perfect pattern. I cast on straightway. Thank you 💕
