  • For 17 years Björn Natthiko Lindeblad lived in Thailand’s jungle as a forest monk. He learnt how calm can encourage clarity of thought, that he prefers walking meditation to sitting, and that freedom can come from not being bound to material possessions.
At the time of recording, Björn was very ill; he had ALS, a progressive nervous system disease. Sadly, Bjorn passed away from his illness before this episode was released. In this chat with Fearne, he talks about how his time as a Buddhist monk helped him make peace with the idea of death.
What resonated with you the most from today's episode with Björn?
Björn Natthiko Lindeblad was a Swedish economist, lecturer, and Buddhist monk. Björn became interested in meditation and Buddhism before and during his year in India, and in January 1992, he applied to Wat Pah Nanachat, a poor forest monastery in northeastern Thailand, and became a monk named Natthiko Bhikkhu.
Björn’s book is called I May Be Wrong: And Other Wisdoms from Life as a Forest Monk, and it’s out now.

Oh Ferne, what an amazing conversation with such an incredible human being, spirit. I have such fond memories of Chithurst Monestry, such a sacred ground. My heart burst open listening to his experiences as a monk, about emotions, attachments, anguish and many more. And cats.... Uncomplicated love...it is so so true and my hearts just burst open. I felt held, safe and loved whilst listening to your conversation and this episode definitely will be one that I will listen frequently
      Thank you wholeheartedly

Today I finished the book "I may be wrong" and realized that he is no longer among us. Listening to this podcast made me cry and laugh at the same time, just as I did when I read his book. I know he is now embarking on the great adventure of his next life. I wish he could hear me when I say, "Thank you, my dear Björn, for sharing your beautiful life story with us, Thank you! Thank you!
And dear Fearn, thank you too for your great work!

I’ve just read the book, I couldn’t put it down, I’ve bent over many pages to keep going back too. What a great man. So sorry he’s not still here in our living world, gone too soon.

With all the negativity in the world, fake news, bias media, we get lost and suffers mental numbness. Therefore, it is so refreshing to listen to a real human being. Thank you…”I maybe wrong” will be a part of my practice. I am more confident now in locating the source of truth, a real Buddhist/Christian/Islam person will give off a nurturing vibe, will make u open your heart and only truth is present. May we all be blessed with having these people in our lives…

Why so many ads? Do you need to monetize this channel so heavily?
The ads distract from happiness gained listening to this man.
